"I've had two great experiences with Atomic Plumbing and would highly recommend them to anyone! This job was to address an extremely slow draining kitchen sink that I had neglected for years plus a disposal that stopped working years ago. Justin R. did a fantastic job! He put down plastic to protect my property while he worked, cleaned out all the stinky sludge, replaced the disposal, and returned the kitchen sink to the properly working condition it needs to be in. He checked it to make sure all the seals were right and there was no leaking. Because he was so careful, there was hardly any clean up afterwards. The outside faucet was replaced and that required cutting open a small area of the wall to access the pipes. All this was carefully and cleanly done. My new faucet is beautiful and is properly installed and caulked (unlike the previous one). Throughout Justin was professional, friendly, easy-going, and answered my numerous questions about preventing freezing pipes and showed me how to turn my water off at the street in the case of an emergency or trip during the winter. I am so appreciative because if there is a water emergency, I need to know that. The first time I called Atomic was last year to replace a different outside faucet that was broken. I believe it was Erik that came out and he was friendly, professional, and did a great job too. So, if you have plumbing issues, don't wait, go ahead and call Atomic because they do great work and their technicians are friendly, know what they are doing, and want to get the job done for you. Also, office staff great and I got the "he is on the way" call as promised."

"I have used Worley for a variety of projects with excellent results, but I particularly want to shine a light on the most recent toilet installation. Many years ago, another plumbing company told us that there was a problem pipe in a walls that clogged when we used the two fixtures upstairs for #2. To fix them would have cost us as much as $15000 between the actual repair and putting in new drywall and wallpaper. So, we had a couple of guys come to check out the problem, and they thought the problem was that the two upstairs toilets didn't have enough pressure, and there were modern ones using the same amount of water per flush but had much stronger flushes. Combined, they cost less than $1500. So, they installed them last week and they are working wonderfully! So, Worley's probably save as $13,000 or more. That would be reason enough to hire these guys."

"The guys showed up and quickly figured out what was going on. The owner worked quickly to obtain the permits and schedule inspections for us so that we would not have to go through the weekend with out heat. They arrived early the next morning and replaced the pipe. They showed what went wrong and the improvements they made to prevent the same type corrosion from reoccurring. They left extra seals for the piping connections for the city, who would need to hook it back up to the meter once it had been inspected. Then later that day, they company called to make sure that every thing went well and our gas was back on. These guys were GREAT! <br />"

"Came out on a Saturday morning to provide an estimate, we provided 50% deposit. On the following Monday, the scheduler called us to set up an appointment for the install. Installation was on Wednesday (2 days later to fit our schedule). They got the city permit ($200 from Chesapeake-ouch), showed up on time, completed the work and set up the apparatus for the city inspector. Very professional, helped us out with another gas issue (no charge), left no mess. The city inspector showed up the next day(Thursday), project passed with no problems. Gas Specialty people showed back up to finish the install that afternoon, hooked up the stove, reset our water heater and furnace. Everything worked beautifully, no problems. Cooked supper on the new gas range that evening."

"They did a great job. He answered all my questions. He fixed my sink very well. It still works just like he fixed it the day he left. He went beyond just putting in fixtures. He also fixed underneath the pipes and underneath the sink as well. He was very efficient. He was very fast. He fixed everything and made it completely normal. He even inspected other plumbing issues that I had and he told me what to do."

"Jim Craig came to the house promptly when I had had to call in Virginia Natural Gas to get the gas turned off due to a malfunctioning oven. He came the same day and installed a shut off valve and new line and tried to figure out what was wrong with the oven but without gas he could not be sure. The VNG inspector looked at his work and said it was "by the book" and excellent. I ended up getting a new oven and the city inspectors said all looked good."

"First off, these gentleman know their stuff! They were not only punctual, they were early. We've had the worst luck with contractor's as a matter of fact we were referred to Norwood A/C initially. Homeowners be aware of this rude, unpolished, and completely unprofessional nut case. Darrel Norwood, is a creep. Do not leave your wives and girlfriends alone with this clown! To make a long story short he hung up on me when we were in discussion about the work and pricing. He started speaking in the third person and ultimately held a one way conversation about the work in my house. I had to call the Gas Guy and immediately recognized the level of sophistication and professionalism they had to off. Darrel Norwood is a rip off and tried to charge me $180 extra. Whereas, the Gas Guy only charged $95 for the same service. They even looked at my gas logs when they discovered it was a faulty logs they didn't charge me. They are honest and dependable. Their honesty and knowledge wins my business again. Again, choose the Gas Guy not these companies that use their namesake as a ploy to exploit women (Darrel Norwood A/C)."

FAQs for gas piping projects in Chesapeake, VA

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
