"I needed repairs or replacement for a furnace at rental property. I submitted a request through Home Advisor, and within seconds I got a call from Frank. Frank visited the property the same day (10/16), and came back the next day to fixed the furnace. I spoke to the tenant, and she said she now has heat. Prior to contacting Old Skool I contacted a contractor who had done work on the furnace for the last several years. "The technician was on time and polite, and careful about our home. He determined that the freon was gone in our system and tried to give it a freon boost. It was unsuccessful and he said that indicated a leak somewhere in the line between the basement and the outdoor unit. He suggested a new unit since our unit is 7 years old and was a base model. We discussed units and he suggested that he would get in touch with Mr. Dibiase who would be better able to give us the information we required. Mr. Dibiase called us and gave me some figures over the phone, but I wanted to have him come out in person and could not schedule it for several weeks because of my own commitments. He was very polite and helpful on the phone. Several days later, my husband recalled that he had added our heat pump to a Sears Service Agreement that allowed us to add existing appliances less than ten years old to our service contract for the Kenmore applicances we already had. We called Sears and they came out and were successful at adding freon. They suggested we call again at the beginning of the AC season to have them evaluate the system. This does not mean we won't use DiBiase, but we were surprised that Sears was able to add freon and the Dibiase tech was not. Perhaps we just didn't understand fully, but we will give the Sears service contract another try before replacing the entire unit.

It cost us nothing and we have had their home heating service contracts for over 20 years.  They have NEVER ONCE not shown up or not helped and in the two furnace emergencies we had--they were here with in 1hr.

"The first impression of this company was bad. The first salesman they sent just didn’t seem to care much about my wants. Just bragged about how they were a big company. The dispatcher offered to make up for his poor performance by suggesting I speak to the sales director I agreed but didn’t get a call back. About 5 weeks go by and I got a email from horizon I responded to and within a few hours I received a call. On that call we discussed my plans to go with another company and they were welcome to match or beat their price. Then the sales director called me and apologize for the poor service. And offered to send another guy out said it’s not entirely possible to beat that price due to the difference in service but can try. The new guy came out the following Saturday and was much better than the first. He offered more knowledge and definitely was more geared to what I wanted in terms of comfort and energy efficiency. I went with horizon because they offered a 12 year labor warranty and made it clear that my system would need new copper lines to ensure the new equipment isn’t damaged by old oil from the existing system. The price was very competitive and they still honored a rebate after a day it expired. So far the system is running great the installation was smooth and the installers were nice and considerate considerate my complex installation. I knocked a star off because of the first impression."
