"Your Community Heating and Cooling handled our repair. Rakim, the company owner came out the same day, spent some time to thoroughly examine our heat pump. The compressor was not working. He attempted to perform maintenance on the compressor to "buy us some extra time" with the unit but was unable to make it work. Rakim offered two solutions, and recommended what he thought was the best plan of action. We agreed and chose to replace the heat pump. The diagnosis visit was timely and inexpensive ($80) for the level of professionalism we received. Rakim came out the next day, and replaced our unit (a York) with a higher quality Rheem. The work took approximately 2 hours (maybe less) and within a few hours, the temperature in our house decreased from 87 degrees to 75, and when we woke the next morning the house temp was 70 degrees. By the way, both visits occurred between 7 and 9 PM. Rakim recognized our need, and gave selflessly of his time and experience providing us with excellent service. I would recommend that you choose Your Community Heating and Cooling for your needs as well. Both visits were $2330.00. Extremely pleased with all facets."

"We had excellent service from Old Dominion Heating and Air Conditioning. He called us within in minutes of receiving our request for service. He was out the very next day. Found the problem went over every detail with us. We had 3 other technicians come out from different companies and none of them could find the problem but they didn't even take the cover off to look at the inside of the Mini Split. Old Dominion gave us a fair price to fix the unit and they ordered the parts and had the work done the day after parts arrived. We can say we are more than pleased with their service and would highly recommend them. They went above and beyond to find the problem. Great Job and very polite."

"I was referred to Element after going without heat for so many years only using 1 lg base board heater in a 1200 sq ft rancher house. After receiving my double electric bill.I knew I had to try and do something. Greg came out assessed the hobe recommended a Split mini system which is ductless and suppose to be cost efficient.I am still in denial with my last power bill with Dominion VA Power.I have been in the home since 95 and never had the bill been doubled.I am curious to see what my next bill will be The Element team Greg & Eric definite know their trade & take pride in their work. They were punctual and coordinate all aspects of the job. I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking to upgrade, repairs or even if you have questions like I did. I never even knew these mini split systems existed. They are convenient heat & cooling combined so I am moving in the right direction I believe. I am just so blessed I do not have to do me up on clothing anymore. I am blessed."

FAQs for heat pump repair or service projects in Richmond, VA

Heat pumps move air to cool or warm your home during different seasons. In cold weather, they extract heat from the outdoors and bring it inside to warm your home. In warm weather, they remove heat from your home to keep it cool. This efficient heat transfer increases indoor comfort, improves energy efficiency, and reduces the need for additional heating systems.

Replacing a heat pump costs between $4,200 and $7,900. The actual cost depends on the type of heat pump. Geothermal models are the most expensive to replace, with the price of the unit plus labor ranging between $6,000 and $20,000. Air source models cost between $4,500 and $8,000 to replace, while the replacement costs for a mini split unit run between $1,300 and $8,000.

The average heat pump is designed to last about 14 years, roughly the same as a central air conditioning system (12 to 15 years). Newer models can last 20 years or more. How long your heat pump lasts depends on how frequently you use it and whether you perform routine maintenance like annual tuneups.
