"Mr. Ferrell first connected his computer to my computer via internet and worked for quite a few hours trying to determine what exactly was wrong. The next day he continued working from his computer for several hours. He determined he would have to have my desktop tower to complete the repair. He and my son met in Huntsville to exchange the tower. He then cleaned up a lot of what was wrong and reloaded Windows 10. He deleted the D: drive which had way too much memory allotted to it. The tower was returned and I plugged it all back together and it is working better than it did when I first purchased it. I would use him again and I recommend him highly to anyone needing computer updating and/or repair. His work is warrantied and he is very personable, knowledgeable, and helpful."

"They came and installed the windows last October, and I have not been too thrilled with the quality of the windows.  Bruce told me that I had a lifetime warranty, but was never given anything in writing.  I was never show how to operate these windows as swell.  As of right now, when you bring the window in to clean it, you have to be very careful so that the window does not fall off.  One of the windows did actually fall off as one of the clips would not allow me to push the window up or down.  I am now not able to operate that window without the window falling off. When they came back to inspect the work, I was told that they did not cap the base of that window correctly.  Because the window was not capped correctly there is water coming in.  They said they would cap the base of that window on my next install. They are coming back out today to fix the window that will not open without falling off and they said they will cap the base of the other window as well.  Bruce told me that I would not be charged for any of these problems.  When I spoke to the company they said there would be a charge as Bruce was no longer working there anymore.  I feel very strongly that I should not be charged for the capping of the window that they forgot to cap."

"Various people told me that repairing a single pane in a 12 pane French window door couldn't be done, and I would have to buy two new doors for hundreds of dollars!   I called Renaissance Restoration because of its great rating on Angie's list and proximity to my home to see if they had a solution. Rene Lopez was very responsive in meeting me to assess and measure the window and help me obtain a replacement window.  Despite my frequent inaccessibility at one place for any given time, he persisted in a most gentlemanly manner to schedule a time to install the pane.  Glass shard removal, wood frame dissection and window caulking were performed efficiently and neatly so that I can't easily tell the replacement was ever made!  Mr. Lopez  is pleasant, professional, prompt and reasonably priced.  Highly recommended!

"After moving into a new condo, I had a variety of jobs to be
tackled from mounting a large heavy mirror to a wall to small fix-ups like
installing a new showerhead. A colleague recommended Matt Cholko and Total Home
Services. She had used Matt’s services when he was just starting out, and he
had made such an impression on her she kept his business card. I called Matt
and left a message with his answering service. He called back that same day,
and we discussed what I needed done. Right then and there, he gave me an
estimate as to how many hours the work would take, and explained the fees,
which I thought very reasonable.

On the day of the appointment, Matt and his colleague, Luke, arrived as
promised, carrying tools and equipment to my 8th floor apartment.
They were prepared with everything they needed right down to the mounting
hardware, and set to work right away. For positioning the mirrors and wall
sculptures, they asked for my input, but were also very helpful with
suggestions. When it came time to position the large mirror, it was discovered
that it couldn’t be placed exactly as planned because of the electrical wiring
in the wall behind that area. They recalculated and hung the mirror without any
damage to the wiring or wall, and moved the dresser so that mirror and dresser
were aligned and centered. Not only did Matt and Luke do all the jobs I
requested but they also noticed other little things that could be handled in
the allotted time.

Matt and Luke were polite, professional, friendly, and very efficient.
It took only a few minutes to see that they really know what they’re doing. I
had the greatest of confidence that the work was being handled correctly. And
they also managed the cleanup, carting away the mirror wrappings and vacuuming
the sawdust from cutting down the doors. Matt was right on target with his
estimated time, and the cost was as expected. I can recommend Matt and Total
Home Services without reservation. As my decorating and improvement projects
continue, I plan on calling Total Home Services for the help I’ll need.

"The Sears Technician (Randall T.) was very professional and used a mask at all times. He explained in detail the work he was doing and what parts was needed to complete the repair work. He then ordered the parts and it came to my residence in about a week. The only problem I was having was trying to get Randall or another Sears Technician to come back to my resistor complete the repair work. But things were worked out."

"Jay came out within hours of my call. He advised me that it would not be cost effective to repair my old doors. I will follow his recommendation and get new doors, but I appreciate his responsiveness and advice."

"I have used Pro-Home twice and both times the company has been very reliable and has done an excellent job.   The the first job involved intalling grap bars in my upstairs bathroom and the second job involved my downstairs bathroom, as described above.  I  have also had some email exchanges about selecting a storm door for them to install and have received great advice about how to go about this.  I highly recommend this company.

"We contacted Mr. DeWitt about fixing a second story sliding glass door that was leaking water into the level below. He responded quickly to my initial inquiry and scheduled an appointment within a few days. He showed up on time, examined the problem and proposed a solution which involved pulling up about a third of our decking to get to the flashing. He also looked at our front porch columns, which had shifted during this summer's earthquake and had become detached from the porch overhang. His pricing beat any other handyman we had contacted, so I inquired about a few more items from my "wish list". He priced these items very reasonably and proposed solutions which improved safety and saved us money.

Mr. DeWitt scheduled the date to begin the work, and he and his helper arrived at the time promised with the materials needed and ready to work. They worked quickly but neatly and dealt with further problems found on the front porch columns after the vinyl wrap was removed. He proposed budget-conscious solutions and reconstructed the column bases so that wood rot caused by water would not be a problem again. The work on the patio door was completed over several days; after it became apparent that over half the decking boards would need to be removed, he suggested that we just replace the whole floor, which was pretty worn, with new decking boards, and he gave me a break on the labor costs. The door has since withstood several very heavy rainfalls and has not leaked again.

His carpentry work on my kitchen cabinet over the microwave was outstanding. You would never be able to tell that the cabinet had been altered. He properly reinstalled my microwave at the proper height and I could not be more pleased. Through the entire process, he kept me informed about what was happening.  I would thoroughly recommend Mr. DeWitt and plan to call him again for further "wish list" items!"

FAQs for door or window screens install or repair projects in Cobb-Island, MD

Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.

To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
