"I ordered the gas valve and had it installed. It was done in 2 hours and had my furnace working again. They were very reasonable priced and were punctual. I was impressed with the professional and service friendly attitude that was given to me."

"JJ provided a detailed description of work needed to remove and replace my 20 yr old rusted cooler, complete with photos and an itemized list of labor and parts. Gerrod and James arrived within the time parameter, introduced themselves and got to work. They did need to go get a larger unit and within 4 hours my new cooler was up and cooling my house. What I paid was exactly what was estimated. I received photos of every step of the installation."

"Title: Exceptional, trustworthy plumbing — highly recommended Galactic Mechanical & Plumbing exceeded every expectation. After a frustrating runaround with other companies, Jordan drove up from Albuquerque to Santa Fe, waived the trip charge, and quickly diagnosed that I only needed a faucet fixture (not a full sink). He went to Home Depot, installed the new fixture, fixed a few other small issues, and left everything working — all billed fairly for one hour of labor. Jordan was professional, efficient, and honest; Megan in the office was courteous and helpful. As a longtime local with two homes, I’m already planning to use Galactic as my go-to plumber. Highly recommend them for reliable, respectful, and skilled service. Thank you, Jordan."

"I very highly recommend Air Pro to anyone who needs a/c or heating work! Everyone that I dealt with was friendly, responsive and professional. I had two companies (Air Pro and one other) come out and give me estimates for replacing my swamp cooler and for switching to refrigerated air. Both companies were "A" rated on Angie's List and "A+" rated on BBB. Both offered 10% discounts to Angie's List members. Jerod from Air Pro came out and spent over an hour measuring and inspecting our system and discussing the options with me. He explained everything very well and answered all my questions. While he was here, he also found a slight gap in our water heater vent that he said could possibly lead to a carbon monoxide leak. He said that it probably wouldn't because the gap was so small, but he wanted to point it out because carbon monoxide is seriously dangerous. He also found a slight leak in the water line to our current swamp cooler. (The t-bar valve wasn't closing all the way.) When I told him that our roof was just replaced 2 1/2 years ago, he suggested that if we went with a new swamp cooler, we should arrange to have our roofers come out at the same time as the installers. That way our roofers could install the flashing and seal everything up so that our roof warrantly would still be valid. I had not even considered this. I was very impressed with Jerod's knowledge and professionalism. The next day the other company came out and spent about 15 minutes total looking at my system and offering me their company's financing plan. There was nothing particularly wrong with the second company. But I was way more impressed with Air Pro. When I got the bids from both companies, Air Pro's bid was higher. But honestly, I did not care. I still gave them an "A" on price, because I felt like they were worth the price. Air Pro gave me a very specific estimate, listing everything they would do, including the water heater vent repair. The vent repair was listed as $230, but if we had them replace the swamp cooler or switch us to refrigerated air, they would do the vent repair for free. The second company gave me a rough verbal estimate for the swamp cooler replacement and a form letter estimate for the refrigerated air conversion. The second company's estimator also said, "Of course, we don't know what we'll find when we get the cooler off, so there might be more costs." Once I signed the estimate and let Air Pro know that we wanted them to replace the swamp cooler with a new one, they were able to have a team at my house in less than a week, even though this is probably their busiest time. Mike and Jon, who came out to do the actual cooler replacement, were also very professional and pleasant to deal with. They were working in 100 degree heat and yet they still had smiles on their faces every time they interacted with me. They kept me updated on the progress throughout the day and worked well with my roofing team, who were able to come out that day as well. Mike and Jon got the new cooler installed and working beautifully. They replaced the part on my water heater vent so there are no gaps. They also replaced the valve on the water line. As it turned out, they found another valve and pipe section around the water heater that needed to be replaced to keep the water pressure where it needed to be. They even had to make a quick trip to the store to get a part they needed. But they took care of it all and did not charge me one penny more than the estimate! The whole job was done by 2:30pm and my house is cool once again! After they were done with everything, I asked Mike for suggestions on getting the air flow stronger in the bedrooms at night. He gave me several suggestions on how to do that. Then he informed me that they are a 24/7 company. If we have any problems we can call at any time and someone will answer! (Also, on a side note...the women who answered the phone, Louise and Lori, were also very friendly and helpful in getting things scheduled.) I cannot imagine that I will ever use any other company than Air Pro for my heating and cooling needs. I was very very impressed! If you have heating and cooling needs...give this company a call!"

"After I was unable to get a response from Route 66 Plumbing for warranty work, I went to Angie's List and found Wilson Water Works with good reviews.  I soon got a call back from Leland, and after he realized my situation, gave me other references for the quick service I needed.  The plumber I used fixed a leaking shutoff valve in the yard the next afternoon, and charged a very reasonable rate.

"A great job from top to finish. Responded to my call promptly, came at specified time, was professional and friendly, and did the work quickly. All at a great price. The weather turned cool after the work was done so I waited until weather warmed up and the cooler went on by itself before writing this review. And, yes, the cooler came on without my even being aware of it, it was so quiet and worked efficiently. Thank you for your service.

FAQs for swamp cooler service or repair projects in Cochiti Lake, NM

A well-maintained swamp cooler can last between 10 and 15 years. Its longevity depends on usage frequency, water quality, and proper care. Regular maintenance, like winterization and protective measures, can preserve your system's efficiency and prevent premature breakdowns, ensuring reliable cooling performance over its lifespan. Hiring a professional to take care of any repairs over your swamp cooler’s lifespan will ensure it’s restored to proper functioning and can help it last longer.

You should consider replacing your swamp cooler if it shows signs of severe corrosion, inadequate maintenance, advanced age, restricted airflow, or ongoing leaks. When repair costs and performance inefficiencies make restoration impractical, replacement may be the best option. Evaluating these issues with a professional ensures you choose the most effective solution, preserving comfort and cost efficiency while avoiding further deterioration of the system.
