"Outstanding company! The owners are mechanical engineers and were able to figure out why a unit previously installed by another contractor caused mold in my ductwork. They completed a Manual J calculation report that indicated the unit was too large, and they replaced the unit. Previously, this contractor identified that the static pressure on both of my HVAC units was too high and appropriate adjustments were made. All employees are professional, knowledgeable, friendly, responsive and extremely helpful. Hands down, this is the best HVAC contractor I have ever worked with."

"I had a great experience with Kelly's A/C. They installed blown-in insulation in my home, and the difference was noticeable right away—my house feels more comfortable, and I’m already seeing an improvement in energy efficiency. The team was professional, on time, and kept everything clean throughout the process. They took the time to explain the work and answer all my questions. I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing insulation or HVAC services!"

"Excellent service from John Moore! This review goes across the board to capture all those involved from the initial call for service to the final step of installation/replacement. We’ve used John Moore Services for several things in the past three months and once again they did not disappoint. Great customer service, pricing, speed and efficiency in installation! Highly recommend!!"

"Our AC couldn't keep up with the upper 90s. Discovered our the 29 year old condenser coil was leaking. Given that the system was using R22 refrigerant, which will no longer be produced after 2020, we decided to heed the recommendation of the technician and replace the entire HVAC system. We called a few different vendors in to compare quotes and have them provide a project scope. The Woodlands Heating and Air Conditioning provided a reasonable price for a project scope that was equivalent to the other vendors. More importantly, the technician who scoped out the project also was able to get the existing system working well enough to get us through until the install date. The install team arrived as expected and immediately got to work. The old system was hauled out and the new system was installed. The did a great job of cleaning up the mess that was the old system--both the compressor area outside and and furnace/condenser in the attic look much better. They cleaned up, packed everything up, made sure I knew how to operate the new fancy thermostat and headed out by 3pm. Even better, they followed up with a visit the following day to adjust dampers after we had the chance to see which rooms need more/less cooling. It's been a long while since I worked with an HVAC company that I felt I could trust. It was refreshing to work with Brian and Omar. I'll be looking forward to their visit in the fall to inspect the system and make sure it's ready for the cooler Houston months."

"I took my Buick down there. I had it towed down there and had the wrecker drop it off towards the evening. They are real busy, busy people and get good write-ups. I'm not sure if they did the full deal to what I really wanted. The reason I am saying that is I knew I had a shift problem and I had a feeling they were going to come back with what they came back with. They came back with it pretty fast, but they acted as if they looked at it, but I don't think they really did, but maybe put it on the rack because they had a hard time driving it in because it doesn't go in drive, it goes in all the other gears but drive. But I have a feeling when they called me up the next day. I wasn't personally there to watch it, that's the bad news too. They told me I needed a new transmission right away. They said they we wouldn't recommend a rebuild because you have a lot of issues you could have with a rebuild, which I understand. The car is a 2005, but it only has 112,000 miles on it. I took a lot of care with it. They came to a conclusion pretty fast because I thought they was gonna do a transmission scan. I paid for their diagnostics. It wasn't really expensive, I think it was about a hundred dollars or under a hundred. I had to have the tow truck take it there and pick it up so it cost me two trips from my membership and that's why I haven't taken it back into somebody. I have to get somebody to maybe come look at it. I am not sure what I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I'm just kind of reluctant. Since I wasn't there when they did it I can't say that they were bad but I kind of feel they came to the conclusion faster than I would have thought. They told me the next morning I needed a new transmission. They must do good work because they had a ton of people with cars there. They get I, guess good write-ups. It was about that close to where I live and not a convenient to me. I didn't want to take it to a dealer; it was further. I couldn't be there to see them either. They are busy. They are pricey on things because looking at their price list they are not cheap people. I don't even know if they pulled the car in, see that's what's bad. I guess if I would have been able to take the day off the next day and go there and virtually watch and see if they put the car on the lift and virtually walk out there to see if they went through. Even though they took a checklist and said such and such, you don't know. It takes a while to get your car in and get your car in and get it looked at. I had to really make an appointment to get it to where I could take it and have it dropped off and then they would look at it when they got to it the next day. I wouldn't use them again; I've got other people I've used."

"I originally asked Stacey for a quote last March, when I had to have some pipework done under the house and I thought I might be able to roll them in together and save some money. That didn't work out, so I had to put off the renovation. I recently had a hip replaced and am about to have the other replaced and it's very difficult to manage showers with the old setup. I decided to ask Stacey if he was available although it was very short notice. (I think he fit me in within less than three weeks.) Stacey's quote was $7500 and he stayed with this same price although six months had passed. The price included demo, providing and installing hardie board, laying the shower floor, building the shower frame, building a chair-height bench, providing and installing a new toilet and vanity, providing and installing a new light/fan/heat combination, installing miscellaneous bathroom hardware (that I provided - towel rack and toilet paper holder), installing a large mirror (that I provided) to replace the medicine cabinet, providing and installing new floor tile, new shower floor and wall tile including an accent tile, providing and installing new shower fixtures, providing and installed a new glass shower door, providing paint and painting everything that wasn't tiled including the linen closet. (I think that's everything!) The work took just shy of seven days. In everything, Stacey went above and beyond. (I was surprised that he worked with the crew and worked very hard.) Most of all, he managed my expectations very well. I was concerned about the shower door because the only kind I could remember seeing were the frameless, hinged style, and the sliding door he chose had a frame at the top and bottom (not in the middle). At first I really wanted those entirely frameless doors, but thank God he talked me down. In such a small bathroom, they would have been a nightmare. The towel rack that I ordered from that big online retailer arrived with the end open, and Stacey discovered that one of the screws was missing (and the hole stripped), so I'm guessing this item had actually been returned and then re-sent to me. Stacey did a workaround and it looks beautiful. He also was very helpful in guiding me with choices. There are so many choices out there in tiles and paint colors and EVERYTHING that I nearly shut down just trying to pick out accent tile. He provided paint cards so I could choose colors. Finally, he knew I had some blinds in my front window that I had installed improperly and now (recovering from the surgery) am not able to fix myself. He installed these for me as well! I just really couldn't be happier with the work. I highly recommend Calahan Construction. FYI, I asked Stacey if he does floor tile for the rest of the house (he does) and I am looking forward to working with him again on this project in the coming months."

"The job went well during all phases, from the initial home visit with work estimate to the final installation of the new equipment. The owner is a great listener and did her best to understand the home owner's situation, provided good feedback, recommendations, and showed strong knowledge in HVAC system installation. The field estimate crew was also very knowledgeable. Though the initial price seemed a bit high, the owner was willing to work on it, and ultimately secured the work. The equipment was installed per the scope of work developed, on the date it was scheduled, and within budget. Also, the property was left clean after completion of the work. I would definitively use this company again in the future and I am happy with the work. Thanks!"

FAQs for swamp cooler installation and replacement projects in Cypress, TX

Swamp coolers are quite energy-efficient, using only 15% to 35% of the electricity that traditional central air conditioning units consume. This can lead to significant savings on your energy bills. However, keep in mind that swamp coolers require water to operate and may not cool your home as effectively in extremely hot or humid conditions. When considering overall efficiency, it is essential to weigh both electricity and water usage, as well as the cooling needs specific to your local climate.

Evaporative coolers only work in dry climates because they cool by moistening the air. If the air is already moist, this will have little to no cooling effect. Central AC is a better choice if you live in a humid climate, such as the Midwest, eastern, or western coastal regions.

To install a swamp cooler on a roof, a local HVAC specialist will first find and cut a spot free of wiring and obstructions. They’ll then install metal bracing, legs, brackets, the ceiling duct register, ductwork, power, and thermostat wires. Once installed, they’ll seal all openings, attach duct connections, and install a thermostat. Before leaving, they’ll run cool water piping to the unit and inspect all the connections.

The cost to repair your swamp cooler ranges from $50 to $600, depending on the issue, whether new parts are needed, and the chosen repair service. Depending on the type of pad your system uses, you will need to change out the pads every one to three years for proper operation. When budgeting for the cost to repair a window unit, expect to pay around $230.

The U.S. Department of Energy states that swamp coolers can cool a single room by five to 15 degrees Fahrenheit. However, this largely depends on the size and installation method of the evaporative cooler. You can only achieve these results in a dry climate, such as the American South, as it’s easier to cool rooms in humid environments with central air.

Swamp cooler water usage varies depending on the size of the unit. Smaller evaporative units may use one gallon per hour, while much larger units could use up to 15 gallons of water per hour. Most homeowners can expect their unit to use between seven and 10 gallons of water per hour of usage.
