He also agreed to replace the Flush rod and handle on our toilet, and carry a large broken microwave oven to the curb for trash pickup. "Energy Star came out to do two things for us which is installing a new Smart T and balancing the duct system in our house. For the smart thermostat, they absolutely nailed it. They did it right, had no questions or hesitation (unlike some other people who tried to quote it), and programmed it correctly. For balancing the duct system though, they did it very quickly and honestly, it was not as thorough as I was hoping it would be. I was hoping they would help me reach some ducts I had difficulty reaching or identifying some ducts I could not identify. Instead, it really felt like a case of me telling them what I knew where each duct went, and if they can easily pull the lever they did -- but that is something I could have done for free myself. So between the two cases, I would call it 50-50 success."

"MRI Mechanical is my new AC service provider. Mr. Patel is a miracle worker! My central air unit finally gave out after 34 years, and I was not prepared to replace it this season. Mr. Patel tirelessly worked on the issues (motorwheel, motherboard, etc.) until "Old Betsy" was up and running. Once he replaced the "guts" and "brain" of the unit, he quickly realized that my outdated thermostat was now incompatible. So close, and yet so far. He offered to install one that he happened to have in his truck at no additional cost, if I didn't mind that it was a used one. Are you kidding?!? As long as it works, I'll gladly accept! One man's trash is another man's treasure, and I have found a treasure in MRI Mechanical. Mr. Patel is prompt, courteous, neat and thorough. "The audit went well.  The follow-on work (water heater replacement, heat pump replacement, and caulking).
They did a pretty good job.  They did sub out the water heater and heat pump parts.  The new water heater had a heat pump unit on it too.  The water heater had an alarm that went out and was eventually replaced.
The subs did test my patience when they started late and ended even later than they said they would.  I eventually told them they had to get out at a certain time.
I took a year to write this because I wanted to back it up with cost savings info.  Unfortunately, the jury is still out on whether or not the system is paying for itself.
