"Ryan did a fantastic job roughing in my post frame building for a bathroom and running a gas line extension from my house. The project had a small window to get the work done, making scheduling a plumber difficult. Citywide arrived on time and provided a professional service and product, rolling with changes that popped up during the build. I will definitely call on Citywide to finish the plumbing in the shop next year and to help with any other future work in our house! I will recommend them to my friends in the area!"

"The faucets in the shower were slow. I decided to replace the usual problem: washers. Not so easy in a set of faucets that haven't been touched in probably a decade. Long story short, "discretion is the better part of valor", and I decided to call in a pro. My neighbors on "Nextdoor" (You are a member, right??? You should be!) recommended Dave. When we (and I do mean WE) opened up the wall it was revealed that all that was holding the pipes and fittings together was rust and corrosion. I am VERY lucky that things didn't explode and flood the lower floors. Dave did great work, and the price was fair. The thing I liked was that some tasks that he could have done and charged me for (taking out the old framing that covered the plumbing area and building a new one) he handed off to me. As soon as he was comfortable that I wasn't going to screw things up he said "have at it". This morning I took a shower for the first time since the repair. Bliss! Highly Recommended!"

"Broken sewer pipe was 14 feet deep and they had to dig in a very tight space between my electricity and gas lines. The break ended up being directly below my gas line and slightly outside of the excavation box. I thought it was totally hopeless but they were calm and professional and improvised a way to make it work. They had put the huge mound of dirt on special boards so everything went back into the hole so all I have in my yard is a relatively small 4x8 section to re-sod. Those guys are the BEST! <br />"

"I had an old water heater (was in the house when I moved in about 20 years ago) and it started to leak. After shutting off the water to the water heater, I did a little Angie's List research to find a company to do the replacement. I called a couple and decided to use Randy Lane, based on cost and my interaction with them, which I felt was cordial and helpful, and made an appointment. <br /> The service person arrived on time on the day of the appointment and went to work. He disconnected the old heater and hauled it out. The new heater was brought in and he did the needed plumbing work to connect the water and also made the natural gas connections. He fired up the unit and briefed me on the new unit - how to turn-off the water and gas, if needed, temperature, etc. <br /> The area was left in the same condition as when he arrived. <br />"

"I called Dana because i had a gas leak in my dryer. His assistant told me he was booked out for a few weeks, but still managed to squeeze me in since she felt bad that I couldn't do laundry! He found the leak and fixed a pipe that wasn't up to regulation, and did it all in less than an hour. He was great. <br />"

FAQs for gas piping projects in Lakeville, MN

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
