"Excellent experience with this company. They lent us a portable air conditioner while we waited for our new air conditioner to be installed. They helped us with financing the new system. All the service employees were helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. They even came out to help us after the office was closed. I fully recommend their company."

"I get why Sandium has great reviews. They're install services are great and since 99% of systems probably work reliably for years that's the extet of dealing with them. But their after service support has been awful and if you're stuck with a system that fails prematurely then good luck. We paid $40k+ for a brand new Samsung heat pump system and all new ductwork last year. One of our attic air handlers died on Dec 11 taking out our bedroom zone and leaving us with nothing but space heaters for our bedrooms during our first winter with the brand new system. Took till early Jan to finally get it fixed which left us with space heaters over the holidays. Seems crazy to me when we paid a very significant premium for sandium over other competitors truly believing they were the best. Once the temporary fix was in the technician realized that the bearing failed because the cabinet was deformed. That could only have happened in original transit. They ordered a new air handler which took 3+ months to arrive. Now I'm being told this can't be installed till June or July because they're too busy. Given the system is likely to fail when under load this means there's a pretty good chance I'll lose cooling during a heat wave before they can get the new unit in. I'm by no means excited to get this new unit in as it'll be very disruptive and require removing our existing closet built ins but it has to be done. This whole situation is incredibly unacceptable. To take 6-7 months to fix a brand new system is crazy to me. I've really tried to be patient on this and it pains me to leave this review but hopefully anyone who reads this can see how unacceptable this situation is. I'm not even going to get into the back and forth with Samsung and the supply company since I made the check out to sandium and so they should be responsible for the system. When you hire an hvac company, turn around time for fixing things matters. I totally get that things can go wrong but the response to things going wrong matters. Sandium is too busy with new work to bother with that. It's not like fixing this is a favor to me. It's getting my system into the condition it should have been in on day 1."

"Ezra and Charles are very friendly and personable. That is, when they want to take your money. What good is a 12-year warranty if you start ignoring your customers at 2 years. I needed my HVAC replaced. Because the HVAC sits on my roof, I decided to redo the roof too. Ezra and Charles came out and were really friendly so I immediately had a good impression of them. Even though it would’ve been cheaper to go with a roofer and a separate HVAC company, I decided to go with Landmark Construction Crew, aka Landmark Energy Upgrades. I figured it would be a more seamless process for one company to do both. I got this done in December of 2016. The thing with a roof is that you don’t know if it’s a good job or not until it rains so I waited to write a review. Around January 2018 ( a little over a year later ) we got some much needed rain but unfortunately, I had a leak coming from one of my vents. I emailed Ezra and he sent out a roofer. The roofer came, looked at the vent, jumped up on the roof for ten minutes and said he was done. Months later, it rained again, it leaked again, I emailed Ezra again. I decided to take a closer look at the vent and noticed that there was sunlight in the ductwork. I figured sunlight equals gap somewhere. When the roofer came, I told him and he said it’s nothing, probably just a reflection, without even taking a look. Then the roofer tells me that the next time there is a leak, I need to call the HVAC guy because it’s not a roof problem. I couldn’t believe it so I told him that HIS company IS the HVAC guy!! I used one company to do the roof and the HVAC so there is NOBODY else to blame. So, he jumps back on the roof and was done and gone in 10 minutes. About a month goes by and the rain is back and so is my leak. It’s 2019 so it rained a lot this year. Good for California, bad for me. So, I emailed Ezra again. After a few weeks, no reply. So, I email him again with pictures, a few more weeks go by and no reply. So, I call him and he picked up the phone. He sounded surprised to hear from me (probably didn’t recognize my phone number) and I start telling him about the leak. He said he didn’t get my emails but just text him my address and he’ll send somebody. A couple of weeks goes by and nothing. So, I text him again and after weeks and weeks of waiting, no reply. I’ve emailed, called, and texted so, at this point, it’s very obvious he’s avoiding me. If you are looking for a friendly company that is willing to take your hard-earned cash then Landmark is for you. But if you’re looking for a company that is accountable for their work then look elsewhere. I know I am."

"Shady and poor quality. Rando was assigned to replace my failed Furnace which they did under First American Home Warranty. During this work, they had to disconnect and replace the drip line which exits the furnace and which takes the water condensation to the outside of my home. First they clogged the drip line which caused the drip pan to almost overflow before I noticed the issue. At this time, Rando admitted to the issue and sent someone out to repair it. The guy they sent was the original guy who came and provided the estimate for the furnace replacement. He had to cut the drip line pvc pipe and send a snake down the pipe to clear it. However while putting it back together he did not glue it properly so the drip line is seeping water into my home. Upon calling Rando which claims to 'warranty' their work, they are lying and claiming that they never touched the drip line pvc pipe which is a total lie because I have pictures of them doing exactly this. They are refusing to answer my calls or call me back and just denying any responsibility. All I want them to do is just fix their issue and re-glue the seams of the pvc pipe that they did themselves. Honestly it would probably take them 15 minutes since they should be professionals at things like this. Meanwhile during the actual Furnace replacement work, the installers damage the threshold to my attic space by gouging the walls and frame around the entrance to my attic space. Rando initially acted apologetic about it and stated that they would make it right and repair the entrance/frame after the installation work was complete - but upon work completion I could not get them to do anything about it. Now I have a dripping condensation pipe that they won't lift a finger to resolve their own quality issue. Shady and shameful service which is likely why they only do warranty work instead of running an actual sound business. If First American assigns you Rando HVAC, call them back and refuse to use them as a service provider. Trust me that they'll screw you somehow and when their poor quality causes issues down the road, they'll ghost you and do nothing."

FAQs for home energy audit projects in Gilroy, CA

To prepare for a home energy audit, begin by preparing your space. Clear any obstructions around the attic, basement, ducts, crawl space, appliances, windows, and doors. Gather all your energy bills from the last year and information on home upgrades if you’ve made any changes. If you’ve previously had an audit done, include that information as well.

Finally, be prepared to discuss any questions or concerns you have. If you’ve noticed a rise in your energy bills, hot or cold areas in your home, or unusual sounds from ducts or appliances, make a list to discuss with your auditor.

How often you should get an energy audit depends on the age and condition of your home. New homes with no issues are recommended to get an audit every five years, while older homes should audit every two to three years. If you’ve noticed any changes to your energy bills or other areas of concern, you should get an audit as soon as possible. It’s also a good idea to conduct an audit if you’ve made changes or upgrades to your home, such as installing a new furnace, windows, or doors.

An energy audit takes three to four hours to complete. Your auditor sets up testing equipment, conducts an exhaustive walk‑through inspection, and performs all required evaluations to identify energy loss points. The audit follows a systematic review that includes visual assessments, mechanical tests, and detailed documentation, resulting in a precise report of improvement recommendations.

You can schedule a home energy audit any time of the year—it all depends on what's convenient for you. That said, timing it right can help you tackle issues before they impact your comfort and bills. If you live in a colder climate and want to avoid high heating costs in the winter, getting an audit in the summer allows you to make improvements before the temperature drops. On the contrary, if hot summers are your concern, a spring audit can help you stay cool and save on air conditioning.

To find a qualified home energy auditor, start by searching for local energy auditors with great reviews and recognized certifications like those from the Building Performance Institute (BPI). These credentials ensure they're qualified and can help you qualify for rebates. Don't hesitate to ask about their audit methods and schedule a consultation to see if they're a good fit for your needs. Doing some research upfront helps you get top-notch service and maximize your energy efficiency.

Once you have your energy audit report, it's time to take action. Review the recommendations and prioritize the upgrades that make the most sense for your home and budget. Reach out to experienced pros to get quotes and discuss how they can help. By making these improvements, you'll boost your home's energy efficiency, lower your utility bills, and enjoy a more comfortable living space.
