"We met Robert Pouncey from Sunpower by The Solar Quote at a local home and garden show. We had been interested in having solar installed on our steel frame home for a couple of years, but just couldn't find the right contractor. Robert was very friendly and professional, and extremely knowledgeable of their solar product. He answered all of our questions. The quote that he provided was exactly what we ended up with--no surprises. He even showed up at the home on the day of the installation to ensure we were ok with everything and continued to follow up with us after the install to see if we had any questions re: the install, functionality, and/or paperwork with the local energy provider. We def recommend Robert from Sunpower by The Solar Quote!"

"A pleasant experience from start to finish. The quoting process was a good two-way discussion, and cordial - no pushy salesman telling you how bad Company X or Y was. Just honest, factual, and straightforward. They quoted us a system with the panels, racking, and inverter which we wanted, not what they were pushing. The quote wasn't the best (hence the 'B' for price) but it did offer the best VALUE when we considered the equipment specification and the stability of the company - an important consideration when looking at a system with a 25 year life! The installation was scheduled by our coordinator, Sherry, and the team showed up when promised and got the job completed on time. Quality of workmanship was first rate and the entire installation was done with care, and tidied away before the team left. Permitting and PG&E inspection were all handled by Sherry, and that was also quick and flawless. Overall, the system they installed easily meets their projections in terms of performance, and it effectively pays for itself. We really couldn't be more pleased with NRG Clean Power and have recommended them to friends and neighbors. We'd recommend you give them your consideration if your looking for solar power."

"After installing our pool, we quickly realized we wanted a pull heating system. After doing extensive research and quotes from multiple large solar companies we decided to give Mid-State Solar a call. The moment Mid-State solar showed up to our home to talk to us about a pool heating system we were impressed. With the larger companies, it felt like they just wanted to get the sale and be off. Mid-State actually took the time "before we signed anything" to go above and beyond to educate us on the system, what to expect, etc. Needless to say we were impressed. Even more impressive was the price. We went with Mid-State for our pool heating solution. They were exceptional, prompt, and answered any questions we had. <br /> We then decided to start looking into "purchasing" a complete electric solar system for our home. We did extensive research, we got quotes from all the major solar providers in our area. To be honest, this research left a very bad taste in our mouths. We quickly learned that these large solar companies will do some very unscrupulous things to get you to not "purchase" the system. They would rather you lease and use the financing options. Leaving you essentially paying twice the amount the system is worth and after the lease is up you still do not own the panels. We then decided to give Mid-State Solar a call. <br /> Mid-State Solar again shined. They went 100% above and beyond in helping us. No pressure to finance, no pricing gimmicks. We own the system, we got all the tax breaks. The complete 32 panel install only took two days to finish, they were professional in every step of the way. I wholeheartedly would recommend Mid-State Solar to anyone looking into a solar. <br />"

FAQs for home energy audit projects in Modesto, CA

To prepare for a home energy audit, begin by preparing your space. Clear any obstructions around the attic, basement, ducts, crawl space, appliances, windows, and doors. Gather all your energy bills from the last year and information on home upgrades if you’ve made any changes. If you’ve previously had an audit done, include that information as well.

Finally, be prepared to discuss any questions or concerns you have. If you’ve noticed a rise in your energy bills, hot or cold areas in your home, or unusual sounds from ducts or appliances, make a list to discuss with your auditor.

How often you should get an energy audit depends on the age and condition of your home. New homes with no issues are recommended to get an audit every five years, while older homes should audit every two to three years. If you’ve noticed any changes to your energy bills or other areas of concern, you should get an audit as soon as possible. It’s also a good idea to conduct an audit if you’ve made changes or upgrades to your home, such as installing a new furnace, windows, or doors.

An energy audit takes three to four hours to complete. Your auditor sets up testing equipment, conducts an exhaustive walk‑through inspection, and performs all required evaluations to identify energy loss points. The audit follows a systematic review that includes visual assessments, mechanical tests, and detailed documentation, resulting in a precise report of improvement recommendations.

You can schedule a home energy audit any time of the year—it all depends on what's convenient for you. That said, timing it right can help you tackle issues before they impact your comfort and bills. If you live in a colder climate and want to avoid high heating costs in the winter, getting an audit in the summer allows you to make improvements before the temperature drops. On the contrary, if hot summers are your concern, a spring audit can help you stay cool and save on air conditioning.

To find a qualified home energy auditor, start by searching for local energy auditors with great reviews and recognized certifications like those from the Building Performance Institute (BPI). These credentials ensure they're qualified and can help you qualify for rebates. Don't hesitate to ask about their audit methods and schedule a consultation to see if they're a good fit for your needs. Doing some research upfront helps you get top-notch service and maximize your energy efficiency.

Once you have your energy audit report, it's time to take action. Review the recommendations and prioritize the upgrades that make the most sense for your home and budget. Reach out to experienced pros to get quotes and discuss how they can help. By making these improvements, you'll boost your home's energy efficiency, lower your utility bills, and enjoy a more comfortable living space.
