"Smart Electric is the best! Joeseph was recommended to me and he also had the best quote! He was patient to answer all my questions and I could text him directly! All the guys showed up on time every day and were polite and friendly, always asking first before cutting the power off. This was a huge job with 80% of our home being re wired, I was nervous that our walls would have holes everywhere but the only needed to make one hole!! They also finished one day earlier then expected! Also, Jenny in the office is very friendly and helpful. I am so glad to have worked with them and would recommend them 100%!!!"

"I just bought a large older home and received my first electric bill.....wait for it.....$850 for this month! Ouch!! I decided I needed to figure out where to start and what to replace and where and how exactly I was burning through so much energy. I called Evergreen Energy Services. Kirk was great! He showed up on time and with a smile. He was very professional and explained exactly what tests he would be preforming during my homes energy audit. He showed me all of the areas my home was not sealed and letting cold air in and letting all my warm air out. Kirk offered ideas and advice on making my home more energy efficient, lowering the heating bills and saving money. Kirk does not sell Energy Products so I felt like I got a very non bias energy consult and was not pressured towards certain Brands or Systems. I would definitely recommend Evergreen Energy Services! Megen 😊"

"I had Charlie come out to my condo today to perform an energy audit, as we have issues keeping our condo warm in the winter, and it gets hot and stuffy in the summer. We're also getting a new roof put in, and I had some concerns as to whether our crawlspace insulation would be adequate for the new ridge venting system that is going to be installed. <br /> He gave me an extremely detailed, very informative analysis about all the areas where we were losing heat, and places where circulation could potentially be a problem. I feel much more well informed now about the issues that my wife and I will need to tackle - or hire someone to tackle - as the colder weather moves in. He was also very helpful in providing guidance on how I should prioritize the various tasks that we will need to get done in order to make our place more comfortable to live in. <br /> I'm very glad I had him come out - this definitely was not a situation where he told me things that I already knew. I can't believe how much I learned in just a couple of hours. I highly recommend Charlie if you want to have an energy audit done in your home! <br />"

"It went really well. Erin showed up early and jumped right in. He covered every aspect of our new home, caught tons of issues, and was very thorough and reassuring. We felt like we were in good hands and he was very clear about what he was seeing at every step of the way. This really helped us out because we felt like he gave us the information we needed to make good decisions about our counter offer."

"I received an independent energy audit from a different vendor, and at his suggestion, engaged HomeRx to do the actual insulation work needed. It took a few tries to connect with them, and to schedule an appointment for a walkthrough. <br /> <br /> The walkthrough went well, no complaints. But the initial bid was missing some key items that we had discussed. This required an minor amendment to the bid. It took some time to get the job scheduled--something like 3 weeks, with a couple of false starts. I would suggest some slightly better communication on when the work would be starting. Saying, and quot;I think we'll likely start the week after nextand quot; doesn't really cut it. I'd like to get the job scheduled down to the day and if possible, when the workers would show up. <br /> <br /> When the work was actually done, I think they did a decent job. Hard to say, as no one ever really walked around with me to discuss how it went or what was done. The workers annoyed some family members by parking in the driveway without asking first. <br /> <br /> After the work was completed, the owner called to ask that I pay the foreman for the work. It seemed a little strange. I had planned to pay the day of, but it seemed an odd request. <br /> <br /> Overall, I think the work was fine, but the business practice needs a little more polish. Needs better response on returning calls and communication."

"Omid did an absolutely fantastic job installing our new Rheem Hybrid Water Heater. He was the one that recommended it to us after we installed our solar panels and saw the energy usage coming from our old water heater. He redid all the pipes in order to install it and explained how the heat pump on the heater works and the benefits. I've been using Green House Plumbing for years and will continue doing so. These guys are absolutely fantastic and helped us cut down our water heating bill 4x."

"Fuller Electric did a tremendous job of changing my electrical panel.  They have been one of the most responsive and responsible companies I have ever dealt with for any kind of service.  When I expressed interest in the project, I was contacted immediately.  After that, all my contacts with them were incredibly quick and helpful.  There are so many companies that are slow to respond that we as a society are numbed to their bad business practices; Fuller Electric restored my faith.  Every time I called them, I got an immediate response (from Patti who we mainly dealt with).   <br /> The work itself, by Joey Devore, was beyond excellent.  The panel is in our garage, and on a cold, rainy day like it was when he did his work, the conditions were about as bad as they could be.  It did not bother him; he did his work in the timeframe expected, and his work was thorough, neat, professional and effective.  Our electrical system works perfectly now.  Even the State electrical inspector complimented Joey on the tremendous job he did.   <br /> A few days after the job, I noticed that there was no obvious generator hookup that was supposed to be part of the job.  I contacted Patti at Fuller, and she called back immediately to say that Joey would be at my house within an hour to connect the generator hookup (Fuller Electric is 40 miles away from my house).  There had been a communication breakdown that did not enable Joey to know the generator hookup was part of the job.  But what a quick and effective response!! <br /> I cannot praise Fuller Electric enough for the work they did at my house.  I will always use them in the future even though they are located some 40 miles from my house.  I would give them the highest recommendation to anyone. <br />"

FAQs for home energy audit projects in Seattle, WA

To prepare for a home energy audit, begin by preparing your space. Clear any obstructions around the attic, basement, ducts, crawl space, appliances, windows, and doors. Gather all your energy bills from the last year and information on home upgrades if you’ve made any changes. If you’ve previously had an audit done, include that information as well.

Finally, be prepared to discuss any questions or concerns you have. If you’ve noticed a rise in your energy bills, hot or cold areas in your home, or unusual sounds from ducts or appliances, make a list to discuss with your auditor.

How often you should get an energy audit depends on the age and condition of your home. New homes with no issues are recommended to get an audit every five years, while older homes should audit every two to three years. If you’ve noticed any changes to your energy bills or other areas of concern, you should get an audit as soon as possible. It’s also a good idea to conduct an audit if you’ve made changes or upgrades to your home, such as installing a new furnace, windows, or doors.

An energy audit takes three to four hours to complete. Your auditor sets up testing equipment, conducts an exhaustive walk‑through inspection, and performs all required evaluations to identify energy loss points. The audit follows a systematic review that includes visual assessments, mechanical tests, and detailed documentation, resulting in a precise report of improvement recommendations.

You can schedule a home energy audit any time of the year—it all depends on what's convenient for you. That said, timing it right can help you tackle issues before they impact your comfort and bills. If you live in a colder climate and want to avoid high heating costs in the winter, getting an audit in the summer allows you to make improvements before the temperature drops. On the contrary, if hot summers are your concern, a spring audit can help you stay cool and save on air conditioning.

To find a qualified home energy auditor, start by searching for local energy auditors with great reviews and recognized certifications like those from the Building Performance Institute (BPI). These credentials ensure they're qualified and can help you qualify for rebates. Don't hesitate to ask about their audit methods and schedule a consultation to see if they're a good fit for your needs. Doing some research upfront helps you get top-notch service and maximize your energy efficiency.

Once you have your energy audit report, it's time to take action. Review the recommendations and prioritize the upgrades that make the most sense for your home and budget. Reach out to experienced pros to get quotes and discuss how they can help. By making these improvements, you'll boost your home's energy efficiency, lower your utility bills, and enjoy a more comfortable living space.
