"Home Energy Services is great! My service technician was an actual mechanical engineer so he knew everything there is to know about heating and cooling efficiency and systems and home construction. The technician inspected my home thoroughly and did a fan in the door leak test - which said my house leaked a lot. Then he took thermal images that showed EXACTLY WHERE cold outside air was coming into my home (the test was in February) and where cold spots from lack of insulation were located. Afterwards he emailed a complete report with his observations, recommendations and the thermal images he took. I will save more in electric bills in a few months than the cost of this comprehensive evaluation. Thank you Home Energy Services! P.S. If any insulation or energy efficiency peddler shows up without a fan-in-the-door tester and a thermal camera, send them on their way, they do not t have your interests at heart!"

"Strongly recommend getting an energy audit completed on your home, especially when it's complimentary, thank you, Paul! There were quite a few items that needed attention in our home. The technicians Justin and Fernando were solid. They arrived on time, did a great job, were polite, and were very clean. They took before and after pictures, which shows how much I needed the work done. We went with the insulation to ensure it was at least 18 inches, the duct sealing of the junction boxes and HVAC unit, and we had to reroute the bathroom vent. We even did the optional UV-C light, which makes us feel much safer and takes a load off, especially in this current environment of being conscious of germs and all. Great technicians, great company, and solid work. Highly recommend Justin and Fernando :) The email and text reminder game is on point."

"My experience with Standard Renewable Energy was fantastic in every way. I got an amazing insulation job for the price and now my house is so warm! Everyone I dealt with from SRE (from the salesperson to the technician) was so nice and professional. I have already told all my friends and neighbors about this company...outstanding customer service!!!"

"German Agudelo was very professional and incredibly knowledgeable. He and his team did an excellent job. They caulked all my windows, plumbing pipes under sinks, and made sure my doors were well insulated. They also checked my ducts, A/C and heating units, and installed my attic insulation. They certainly did a lot more than I expected. I found him through the Oncor program and looked at reviews through Angie's List. I would highly recommend him to friends, family, and neighbors because of the thorough job he did in my home. It didn't hurt that Oncor sent out a representative to inspect his work, which produced a positive review. My home feels much cooler because of all the energy efficient work this company has done. I can't wait to see my electric bill drop."

"Owner mike came over the previous week to do an energy audit. Found we only had about 8 inches insulation and only passive vents to purge heat from attic. decided to add R49 insulation and add a solar powered attic fan. Work went great! Two of his crew started the following week. They were here pretty early in the AM and finished by mid-afternoon. Friendly guys. Took a look at their work (blown in insulation) and it look very uniform and nice and thick. Could hear the attic fan running so I know that works."

"Had replacement insulation put in the attic after several contractors had ruined the insulation. I chose Energy Attic because they were my original insulation installers and radiant barrier installers that did an outstanding job. I have to say kudos to Summer, The entire Energy Attic installation crew for doing such an outstanding job once again. I would highly recommend Energy Attic to do any type of HVAC, Insulation, radiant barrier work to your home. It was one of the best investments I ever made."

"Ricky explained the offers he had going with TXU in September. I did not qualify for the energy audit deal he was offering. However, I did ask him to come back in October to discuss other attic insulation offers. We did not discuss price or the variety of his offerings. Hopefully I'll know more in a month and have more to report. <br />"

FAQs for home energy audit projects in Dallas, TX

To prepare for a home energy audit, begin by preparing your space. Clear any obstructions around the attic, basement, ducts, crawl space, appliances, windows, and doors. Gather all your energy bills from the last year and information on home upgrades if you’ve made any changes. If you’ve previously had an audit done, include that information as well.

Finally, be prepared to discuss any questions or concerns you have. If you’ve noticed a rise in your energy bills, hot or cold areas in your home, or unusual sounds from ducts or appliances, make a list to discuss with your auditor.

How often you should get an energy audit depends on the age and condition of your home. New homes with no issues are recommended to get an audit every five years, while older homes should audit every two to three years. If you’ve noticed any changes to your energy bills or other areas of concern, you should get an audit as soon as possible. It’s also a good idea to conduct an audit if you’ve made changes or upgrades to your home, such as installing a new furnace, windows, or doors.

An energy audit takes three to four hours to complete. Your auditor sets up testing equipment, conducts an exhaustive walk‑through inspection, and performs all required evaluations to identify energy loss points. The audit follows a systematic review that includes visual assessments, mechanical tests, and detailed documentation, resulting in a precise report of improvement recommendations.

You can schedule a home energy audit any time of the year—it all depends on what's convenient for you. That said, timing it right can help you tackle issues before they impact your comfort and bills. If you live in a colder climate and want to avoid high heating costs in the winter, getting an audit in the summer allows you to make improvements before the temperature drops. On the contrary, if hot summers are your concern, a spring audit can help you stay cool and save on air conditioning.

To find a qualified home energy auditor, start by searching for local energy auditors with great reviews and recognized certifications like those from the Building Performance Institute (BPI). These credentials ensure they're qualified and can help you qualify for rebates. Don't hesitate to ask about their audit methods and schedule a consultation to see if they're a good fit for your needs. Doing some research upfront helps you get top-notch service and maximize your energy efficiency.

Once you have your energy audit report, it's time to take action. Review the recommendations and prioritize the upgrades that make the most sense for your home and budget. Reach out to experienced pros to get quotes and discuss how they can help. By making these improvements, you'll boost your home's energy efficiency, lower your utility bills, and enjoy a more comfortable living space.
