"Wonderfully, not only did we have our house done but they installed solar on our business as well. The deal on our house was so good we decided to put a system on our business. We are going to be able to take advantage of the tax credit for both properties. They also came back and turned on all of our monitoring and showed us how to use. All together they are a 10 our of 10"

"Both of us have been in the building trades, so we are very particular, and were careful in selecting a contractor.  Diamond met and exceeded our expectations.  We were impressed by Bob's straightforwardness - no hype or sales pitch.  He  is very honest - you can count on him following through with whatever he promises.  (Another bidder changed his work scope on his second visit.)  Bob was thorough in explaining the type of system needed, the SEER rating of the equipment, best locations for various components including additional registers, and the benefits of the energy upgrades he could provide.  A job this size was not without glitches, but Bob handled all problems immediately, decisively, and to our satisfaction.  Bob's experience as a general contractor was appreciated in various aspects of this project.  He is a perfectionist, and will go out of his way to make something right, regardless of the cost to him in time and resources, as evidenced by his top-notch subcontractors (sheet rock and painting).  We were pleasantly surprised by the extra things that he did for us, such as painting the newly emptied closet space where the old air conditioning equipment was, and replacing the baseboards where the old return air registers had been.  His crew took extra care in protecting walls and flooring from dirt and damage during the installation, and cleaned up everything daily.  Even though Diamond had several jobs going, Bob and Elaine made us feel as though we were their only customers, giving us their full attention and as much time as we needed in answering our questions.  Bob was very understanding when we had to stop the project due to an out-of-state death in the family, and the project started again in a timely manner upon our return.  Each room in our home is now conditioned properly and comfortably."

"Our Service Tech, Alex Peck, arrived on time to perform the annual check up & tune-up of our HVAC System. He was very professional and following the Tune-Up asked if there was any other items that needed done or looked into that he could take care of. His services were very much appreciated and very professional. Lee"

"I interviewed 4 solar companies and NRG stand out the most because of the pricing. Kaelen came over and went through the numbers and everything made sense. I like the inverters and panels that NRG offered. Tiffany was great coordinating the project and handling the H.O.A. To get it approved by HOA took 3 days and after installation the city inspection took 1 day. Installers took 2 days to install 32 panels on a two story home. NRG seems like they really care because they sent out Robert after everything is completed to make sure I am completely satisfied with my solar. Love using the solar edge app and monitoring my production. Very useful tool if you want to manage your electricity. I am so pleased with NRG I am going to refer my neighbor who also wants solar. Thanks for everthing!"

"My pump was leaking and getting worse. I had used Matt before and he did a good job. I gave him a call and he came over, checked out the pump and said I need a new one.  When he told me the price, I decided to try to fix the pump myself. So after spending $375.00 on parts, the pump lasted a few more months before it seized. I called Matt and he came over on a Saturday to replace the pump. I should have listened to Matt in the first place. Now I have a super-quiet, energy efficient pool pump. They even cleaned the pool before they left. Just call Matt."

"The entire process went smoothly. Begin with a system quote from Paul Sherer with a design layout, followed by a feasibility study of the roof and where the panels are to be installed. I have a metal tile roof and the previous solar vendor actually rejected the project. Slingshot first installed the 240v outlet and that took 2 people a whole day to complete, as my electric panel is at the other side of the house from the garage. The panel installation took another 2 days that included the interconnect, upgrading the breakers on the panel. The staff was professional, courteous and focus on doing the job right. Then the city inspection and followed by submitting the application to PG&E. The approval took only 3 days which was a pleasant surprise. Slingshot came out to install a CDD so I can monitor the performance and output of all 13 panels. Not only the project completely very smoothly and on time, the final price I paid is exactly what was quoted from day 1. Now that my electric car is here, I think I can recover the cost within 2 years."

FAQs for home energy audit projects in Sacramento, CA

To prepare for a home energy audit, begin by preparing your space. Clear any obstructions around the attic, basement, ducts, crawl space, appliances, windows, and doors. Gather all your energy bills from the last year and information on home upgrades if you’ve made any changes. If you’ve previously had an audit done, include that information as well.

Finally, be prepared to discuss any questions or concerns you have. If you’ve noticed a rise in your energy bills, hot or cold areas in your home, or unusual sounds from ducts or appliances, make a list to discuss with your auditor.

How often you should get an energy audit depends on the age and condition of your home. New homes with no issues are recommended to get an audit every five years, while older homes should audit every two to three years. If you’ve noticed any changes to your energy bills or other areas of concern, you should get an audit as soon as possible. It’s also a good idea to conduct an audit if you’ve made changes or upgrades to your home, such as installing a new furnace, windows, or doors.

An energy audit takes three to four hours to complete. Your auditor sets up testing equipment, conducts an exhaustive walk‑through inspection, and performs all required evaluations to identify energy loss points. The audit follows a systematic review that includes visual assessments, mechanical tests, and detailed documentation, resulting in a precise report of improvement recommendations.

You can schedule a home energy audit any time of the year—it all depends on what's convenient for you. That said, timing it right can help you tackle issues before they impact your comfort and bills. If you live in a colder climate and want to avoid high heating costs in the winter, getting an audit in the summer allows you to make improvements before the temperature drops. On the contrary, if hot summers are your concern, a spring audit can help you stay cool and save on air conditioning.

To find a qualified home energy auditor, start by searching for local energy auditors with great reviews and recognized certifications like those from the Building Performance Institute (BPI). These credentials ensure they're qualified and can help you qualify for rebates. Don't hesitate to ask about their audit methods and schedule a consultation to see if they're a good fit for your needs. Doing some research upfront helps you get top-notch service and maximize your energy efficiency.

Once you have your energy audit report, it's time to take action. Review the recommendations and prioritize the upgrades that make the most sense for your home and budget. Reach out to experienced pros to get quotes and discuss how they can help. By making these improvements, you'll boost your home's energy efficiency, lower your utility bills, and enjoy a more comfortable living space.
