"The audit went well. They worked with me and my tenant to perform an energy audit and provided a detailed report with their recommendations. I could not be there in person because I now live out of state, but the staff set up a phone appointment to review the report. They also provided an estimate for some of the work that I said I was interesting in having done. They were easy to work with, thorough, and punctual. <br />"

"These guys did a bang-up job of air sealing and insulating my attic. 37% reduction in air leakage! Everybody was courteous, hardworking and professional throughout the process. The communication was great, and they honored their timeline and price with no fuss. They were very clean during the work and had great attention to detail. They were very responsive to my specific requests and questions and made the whole process very easy. I can't emphasize how important it is to go with a reputable company for insulation and ESPECIALLY air sealing work. It is work that is so tempting to cut corners on since most people will never crawl into the tiny spaces needed to inspect the work before the contractor blows insulation over the whole thing. BUT, you will pay for it for 30 years if the air sealing isn’t done right. I passed over some cut-rate companies to go with REenergize and I don't regret it for an instant. I work in commercial building energy efficiency, so I’m very dialed into the wide array of experiences and results you can get from an insulation upgrade. I got the measurable results I wanted from REenergize. Now I have a much warmer and more comfortable house, and I'm burning a lot less energy to heat it. Top notch work. I highly recommend this company for your home energy efficiency project."

"My technician, Jameel, from Applewood Plumbing and Heating, arrived promptly, introduced himself, put his booties on before entering my home and explained the process clearly. His friendly, good natured and professional manner were as exceptional as his skills. I continue to be absolutely amazed by the consistency of the kind of employees hired by Applewood. Excellent experience as always! Several months ago I purchased a "Service Club" membership which entitled me to a free furnace check up so no money was paid. Best decision I ever made because of the many incredible benefits offered. Check it out."

"The gentleman who performed the audit was punctual, courteous, and thorough. He answered all my questions and did a careful job. He asked permission before drilling very small holes needed to check insulation, then filled them in. <br /> <br />The gentleman who reviewed the final report was also courteous and thorough. He welcomed and answered my questions. Although they do many of the upgrades and fixes recommended in the report, at no time did I feel any pressure to hire them to do those fixes, and there were several that he explained how to do ourselves. <br /> <br />My only complaint is they kept losing our phone number. After waiting almost 3 weeks for the report, I called the office and was told that they had left a message on voice mail. I did not receive a voice mail, and when I asked what number she left it at, the employee could not find a phone number in my file. She did, however, have our correct email, so why they didn't contact us by email when there was no response to the voice mail, I do not know. She took down my number again, and we set up an appointment to review the report. The man who reviewed the report with me was a few minutes late - not a problem, really - but he was apologetic and said he didn't call because he didn't have our phone number. <br /> <br />They did all the paperwork for the Xcel Rebate, so all we had to do was sign some papers and pay the $105 fee to Stellar. I feel the job was thorough, and the money well spent. I would highly recommend this company, with the caveat that you may need to call to get the final report. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />"

"The owner of Heritage Electric came to the house and provided a bid for the electrical portion of kitchen remodel.  He was very knowledgeable of the different types of lighting and electrical fixtures currently available on the market.  After learning of pro's and con's of the different approaches we agreed upon a plan for the wiring of the new kitchen. <br /> During the entire remodel we had a single electrician that was very courteous and professional.  If we were behind in one phase of the project, we were able to postpone electrical, with little to no notice, while the ventilation or floor contractors were working.  In retrospect this was a extremely helpful.  If we experienced delays in the arrival of appliances we were able to call Heritage and our electrician would be out the next day or the day after . . . very accomodating. <br /> We were very pleased with the work that was done."

"We have had new and different projects over the past eight months that we have been going back to CPH&D for the professionalism of their employees and the quality of the work completed. <br> <br>They deserve an A+ rating.  I gave a "B" on pricing to authenticate this as an unbiased and real person review; their pricing is good to excellent given the quality of the work. <br> <br>They have worked in teams and individually on our projects and every one of them that has been to our house has just been a genuinely nice guy - that counts for something. <br> <br>With some contractors you get a feeling when you're being taken advantage of, or worse when the job is done and you know it wasn't done well.  That is not CPH&D. <br> <br>"

FAQs for home energy audit projects in Idaho Springs, CO

To prepare for a home energy audit, begin by preparing your space. Clear any obstructions around the attic, basement, ducts, crawl space, appliances, windows, and doors. Gather all your energy bills from the last year and information on home upgrades if you’ve made any changes. If you’ve previously had an audit done, include that information as well.

Finally, be prepared to discuss any questions or concerns you have. If you’ve noticed a rise in your energy bills, hot or cold areas in your home, or unusual sounds from ducts or appliances, make a list to discuss with your auditor.

How often you should get an energy audit depends on the age and condition of your home. New homes with no issues are recommended to get an audit every five years, while older homes should audit every two to three years. If you’ve noticed any changes to your energy bills or other areas of concern, you should get an audit as soon as possible. It’s also a good idea to conduct an audit if you’ve made changes or upgrades to your home, such as installing a new furnace, windows, or doors.

An energy audit takes three to four hours to complete. Your auditor sets up testing equipment, conducts an exhaustive walk‑through inspection, and performs all required evaluations to identify energy loss points. The audit follows a systematic review that includes visual assessments, mechanical tests, and detailed documentation, resulting in a precise report of improvement recommendations.

You can schedule a home energy audit any time of the year—it all depends on what's convenient for you. That said, timing it right can help you tackle issues before they impact your comfort and bills. If you live in a colder climate and want to avoid high heating costs in the winter, getting an audit in the summer allows you to make improvements before the temperature drops. On the contrary, if hot summers are your concern, a spring audit can help you stay cool and save on air conditioning.

To find a qualified home energy auditor, start by searching for local energy auditors with great reviews and recognized certifications like those from the Building Performance Institute (BPI). These credentials ensure they're qualified and can help you qualify for rebates. Don't hesitate to ask about their audit methods and schedule a consultation to see if they're a good fit for your needs. Doing some research upfront helps you get top-notch service and maximize your energy efficiency.

Once you have your energy audit report, it's time to take action. Review the recommendations and prioritize the upgrades that make the most sense for your home and budget. Reach out to experienced pros to get quotes and discuss how they can help. By making these improvements, you'll boost your home's energy efficiency, lower your utility bills, and enjoy a more comfortable living space.
