"I had another company tell me my HVAC was too old to maintain and tried to rush me into buying a new unit for well over $5000. They seemed suspicious so I called Air Summit. He came and repaired the unit with normal maintenance. Air Summit has earned all my business and I would not go anywhere else."

"The team at Hayes was quick to respond to my initial request and explained my options in detail. They provided me a variety of choices and helped me determine which would be best for my needs and budget. The install team was efficient and respectful of my home ensuring it was protected through the process and thoroughly clean when they finished. They followed up with me and I could not be more pleased with the service, product and value I received! I noticed a substantial reduction of my next heating bill, too!"

"When the tech came on 4-25-18 to do the bi annual tune up there were no issues with the unit. A couple days later the unit starting tripping the breaker. It continued to do this so I called and they sent another tech out who didn't even bring a flashlight when he came at 10:00 pm. He said it was just a breaker and he didn't need to look at unit because they were just here. Then the unit continued to trip breaker. I called again and they sent out another who tech that took the panel off and found the hard start hanging by wires and not completely connected. The inside of the panel was also charred. The whole unit now needs replaced and they are refusing to take care of"

"We had this company come out to resolve a dust issue in our home. They recommended sealing our ducts with aeroseal, sealing our attic, replacing our insulation and adding more spray foam to our basement rim. We agreed to all of the recommendations. They had mechanical problems with all of their equipment. They left pools of liquid spray foam in our attic where their machine leaked. The hose they used to pump in the insulation broke in our front yard leaving a mountain of insulation, they had to use our shop vac to clean up the mess. They never put any protection down on our carpet or over the window ledge where they brought insulation into the house and they didn't cover the walls in the closet where they entered the attic. We had to repaint the closet and window ledge. They left stains on our new carpet. They made the attic entry so tight you can't close it properly. In the basement the same spray machine leaked all over our basement floor, over furniture, they made a huge mess and have not answered or replied to our letters of dispute. They never came back to do a second blower door test. Our power bills have actually increased since they did all this work. They will say they are coming out and never come back to fix their mistakes. What a waste of money. Our ducts were lined with fiberglass and they told us the aeroseal would seal everything. You can see in the photos the fiberglass did not get sealed, it doesn't even look like the ducts were sealed. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!! THEY DON'T KNOW THE MEANING OF ATTENTION TO DETAIL."

"Insulation guys were great but the windows are horrible. They let cold air in worse than our old windows. We called them and they finally came out and put a little strip of Insulation on them and they still let in cold air and whistle when the wind blows. We have called and left messages and no calls back. I wouldn't recommend Rolox windows to anyone. Paid around 1000$ per window and still cold air comes in. Never again."

"We previous had KC Daylighting install a solatube inour kitchen. We were so happy with their product, service, expertise, and professionalism, that we knew they had to install the whole house fan when we decided to get one. They arrived exactly when they said they would, installed the new fan (even though we have a somewhat difficult attic), and it works wonderfully. We really couldn't be happier with the product or the installers. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone in the market for any of their products."

FAQs for home energy audit projects in Kansas City, MO

To prepare for a home energy audit, begin by preparing your space. Clear any obstructions around the attic, basement, ducts, crawl space, appliances, windows, and doors. Gather all your energy bills from the last year and information on home upgrades if you’ve made any changes. If you’ve previously had an audit done, include that information as well.

Finally, be prepared to discuss any questions or concerns you have. If you’ve noticed a rise in your energy bills, hot or cold areas in your home, or unusual sounds from ducts or appliances, make a list to discuss with your auditor.

How often you should get an energy audit depends on the age and condition of your home. New homes with no issues are recommended to get an audit every five years, while older homes should audit every two to three years. If you’ve noticed any changes to your energy bills or other areas of concern, you should get an audit as soon as possible. It’s also a good idea to conduct an audit if you’ve made changes or upgrades to your home, such as installing a new furnace, windows, or doors.

An energy audit takes three to four hours to complete. Your auditor sets up testing equipment, conducts an exhaustive walk‑through inspection, and performs all required evaluations to identify energy loss points. The audit follows a systematic review that includes visual assessments, mechanical tests, and detailed documentation, resulting in a precise report of improvement recommendations.

You can schedule a home energy audit any time of the year—it all depends on what's convenient for you. That said, timing it right can help you tackle issues before they impact your comfort and bills. If you live in a colder climate and want to avoid high heating costs in the winter, getting an audit in the summer allows you to make improvements before the temperature drops. On the contrary, if hot summers are your concern, a spring audit can help you stay cool and save on air conditioning.

To find a qualified home energy auditor, start by searching for local energy auditors with great reviews and recognized certifications like those from the Building Performance Institute (BPI). These credentials ensure they're qualified and can help you qualify for rebates. Don't hesitate to ask about their audit methods and schedule a consultation to see if they're a good fit for your needs. Doing some research upfront helps you get top-notch service and maximize your energy efficiency.

Once you have your energy audit report, it's time to take action. Review the recommendations and prioritize the upgrades that make the most sense for your home and budget. Reach out to experienced pros to get quotes and discuss how they can help. By making these improvements, you'll boost your home's energy efficiency, lower your utility bills, and enjoy a more comfortable living space.
