"Options explored in detail & selection of unit was made by me. The proposal was sent out after an onsite inspection. Vendor identified that additional ductwork was not needed which another bidder was anxious to replace at a much higher cost. Terms and conditions were agreed upon in writing. Installation was performed the following week and an onsite inspection was made by a reliable source, since I could not do so myself from my home in Illinois. The service met and exceeded my expectations."

"I purchased a Deal, spoke with Ken, the owner, and he was flexible about my schedule changes (due to the tile job taking longer). Since a crew was running behind, he came himself to do the work late in the afternoon knowing that I needed the vent cleaning that day before we moved in. Ken did an amazingly through job of cleaning and disinfecting, and shared his knowledge about HVAC systems and duct routing the whole time. He analyzed our system capacity, checked the duct routing in the attic, and gave us options for improving our HVAC system in future when the existing equipment is ready for replacement. So not just a simple service - an informed future strategy! Can't say enough about how impressed we were with A Breath of Fresh Aire, we will definitely use their services again."

"West Coast Cold Air, Inc., is a great company. The owner Fernando, is highly reliable and a man of his word. After an exhaustive search to replace a dishonest and failing A/C Contractor who lied to us about his LIC and qualifications, we found West Coast Cold Air on the City of St. Petersburg, FL License Contractor List. After the fact we discovered West Coast Cold Air is registered with Angie List. I called Fernando and he promptly came out to the house we are renovating to assess our HVAC project requirements for an older two-story home that never had A/C. After interviewing nine other A/C contractors with no success due to their insurance coverage or internal business policy preventing them from touching equipment or completing another A/C contractors work. West Coast Cold Air did not hesitate to take on the job and assumed full ownership of the recently installed but abandoned equipment and uncompleted second floor project requirements. Fernando informed us to go to the City Permit Office to change the Contractor name on the recorded HVAC permit to his company's name and guided us through the arduous city of St. Petersburg permit process. The install was completed in four days to include: completing the missing Manual J Air inspection to complete the permit; finishing the install of the downstairs Mitsubishi ductless mini-split systems/outside condenser; sourcing and installing a new Central Air system for the upstairs: installing missing air return ducts for four rooms, and passing the Final HVAC Inspection. In addition, Fernando provided an outstanding insulation contractor recommendation for the attic. We are so happy and pleased with West Coast Cold Air and cannot say enough good things about Fernando's reasonable prices, integrity, and quality of workmanship. He is a real professional who earned our respect, I will always highly recommend him first--he is a rare professional you can count on!"

"Larry, the owner from Trost Heating & Cooling LLC is incredibly professional and trustworthy, I highly recommend him to anyone who needs help and service related to your AC problems. Here is my story. My tenants from my investment property located in Sarasota FL reported an AC issue which is not cooling for cold air. I picked up a phone and called a service company who fixed same AC but different issue for me about 3-4 months ago to check it out. The owner then called back telling me that since the condenser coil was leaking and it seems unfixable therefore he recommend to replace a brand new Ac which would cost me between $4500 - $6000. I also went to Angie’s List made several price quote inquiry for comparison, and Larry is one of the picks to be contacted. When I was almost ready to hire someone to install a new AC, I got a call from Larry from Trost Heating & Cooling LLC. He asked me if he could go to the property and takes look at the issue first then let me know what he can do. Short after that Larry called me back saying he believe the coil leaking issue can be fixed instead of replacing the entire system, he also quote me very reasonable repairing price. I was so shocked and hardly to believe that someone I never knew and first time contact him all of sudden saved me thousands of dollars. Larry came back next day not only fixed the tube leaking issue, also performed a full maintenance on the system, the AC has since been up ruing with no issues. While living in New Jersey and having an investment property located in Florida, it’s impossible to be presence when this kind of issues happening. Thus, the decision-making judgment relies so heavily on the service company in which not only they can provide high quality of service, most crucially they have professionalism and honesty work ethics. To my case described above Larry could scam me so easily and make much more money should he is like the first service company guy I called. Larry, again greatly appreciate the great service and most importantly to your honest and professionalism."

"The service went great. Darren showed up right on time and went straight to work. He explained the entire process to me and let me watch along side him. Unfortunately the dryer vent was very clogged. The last part of the service includes going on the roof and cleaning out the vent cap. This includes a video with audio illustrating the vent being completely freed of debris. The dryer is now in great working order again. Would definitely recommend Fresh Air Services."

FAQs for swamp cooler installation and replacement projects in Laurel, FL

Swamp coolers are quite energy-efficient, using only 15% to 35% of the electricity that traditional central air conditioning units consume. This can lead to significant savings on your energy bills. However, keep in mind that swamp coolers require water to operate and may not cool your home as effectively in extremely hot or humid conditions. When considering overall efficiency, it is essential to weigh both electricity and water usage, as well as the cooling needs specific to your local climate.

Evaporative coolers only work in dry climates because they cool by moistening the air. If the air is already moist, this will have little to no cooling effect. Central AC is a better choice if you live in a humid climate, such as the Midwest, eastern, or western coastal regions.

To install a swamp cooler on a roof, a local HVAC specialist will first find and cut a spot free of wiring and obstructions. They’ll then install metal bracing, legs, brackets, the ceiling duct register, ductwork, power, and thermostat wires. Once installed, they’ll seal all openings, attach duct connections, and install a thermostat. Before leaving, they’ll run cool water piping to the unit and inspect all the connections.

The cost to repair your swamp cooler ranges from $50 to $600, depending on the issue, whether new parts are needed, and the chosen repair service. Depending on the type of pad your system uses, you will need to change out the pads every one to three years for proper operation. When budgeting for the cost to repair a window unit, expect to pay around $230.

The U.S. Department of Energy states that swamp coolers can cool a single room by five to 15 degrees Fahrenheit. However, this largely depends on the size and installation method of the evaporative cooler. You can only achieve these results in a dry climate, such as the American South, as it’s easier to cool rooms in humid environments with central air.

Swamp cooler water usage varies depending on the size of the unit. Smaller evaporative units may use one gallon per hour, while much larger units could use up to 15 gallons of water per hour. Most homeowners can expect their unit to use between seven and 10 gallons of water per hour of usage.
