"We had a gas leak that needed to be addressed immediately and Nathan from Triangle Plumbing saved the day! He came out the same day I contacted him, quickly diagnosed the issue and gave us a very fair estimate. (Much better than a different quote we got) He fixed the leak quickly and we were able to get Peoples Gas to turn the gas back on without any issues. Weâ ll definitely be contacting Triangle Plumbing for future plumbing needs, thank you!"

"Our furnace broke down last week, I had 3 estimates with other companies. However, were pleased with the warranty and coverage offered by Four Seasons Heating and Cooling. The installation process truly EXCEEDED my expectations. Both techs arrived on time and respected COVID-19 guidelines- very knowledgeable, courteous, went above and beyond with removing old furnace and installing new one. Previous company that installed our old furnace made multiple errors, but Jermaine (tech) had a great deal of patience throughout the difficult challenges in replacement (moving gas pipe, electrical wiring, vent pipes, etc.). He would keep me up to date on the process throughout the day. You'll definitely be lucky if you're scheduled with this AMAZING tech! After a week with no heat I finally have a very warm house and I'm a super happy customer!"

"I called various companies, they either seemed to lack confidence to do the job, didn't want the job, or didn't know how to do the job without the gas on. When I called this company, they knew exactly what needed to be done. I made an appointment and took the day off from work. My appointment came and went with nobody showing up. I called and asked for an update and they said they were busy and would have someone out ASAP. The plumber showed up 45 minutes after the original 3 hour window I was given. The plumber had an appointment sheet with my name and info with the wrong appointment window on it. It basically seemed like my appointment got lost in the system and they didn't send someone out until I called to see why no one had arrived. The plumber was great, he really was an expert. He gave me a breakdown of what needed to be done and gave me prices. At this point I had been without gas for a few days and was ready to get this process going, which is why I was willing to overpay. The plumber then informed me that they charge extra because it was getting late, so I replied that it wasn't my fault because his company lost my appointment for an earlier time. He called in and they said they would do it. He did the work, did it well, was very knowledgeable, was very polite, and I got my gas back on. My biggest problem is the price, which is my fault because I agreed to pay it, I understand that. I agreed to pay because I was able to and needed my home to be fully functional for my children, not because I thought it was a fair price. The cost was $1900. As far as parts go, I don't believe it was more than $300 (3 ball valves, 1 pipe cap, joint sealant, air compressor, gas leak solution, air gauge with pipe to tap into gas line), that means they charged $1600 for 4 hours of labor. $400 an hour just seems high to me. Again the work was done perfectly, the plumber was an expert, I have no doubt that they can do multiple jobs at a very high level, and I understand that you get what you pay for, but it just seemed high."

"Peoples Gas had turned-off gas to fix a minor leak and the hot water heater pilot wouldn't go back on. Neither we nor Peoples Gas knew the correct way to do it. We called Scottish Plumber who had installed the hot water heater two years ago and they set an appointment for the next morning. Fred came on time, remembered installing the heater, showed my husband the proper way to light it if ever needed, and refused to charge us. He was personable and knowledgeable, and very kind."

FAQs for gas piping projects in Markham, IL

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
