"I have a large house that had two very old AC units. The previous units were installed in the 1980’s, and had always been inadequate for our needs. I will also say that I tend to have very high expectations. While I like to give out compliments when they are deserved, I find very few opportunities to do so when hiring different folks for my home improvement needs. I am almost always disappointed with this type of thing. We chose Tyler LLC for many reasons, and I’m so happy that we did. Their pricing is competitive, but I will also say that you get what you pay for. We did have some quotes that were cheaper, but the proposed plan was also inferior. Tyler came in with a competitive quote and offered much more in return than their competitors could. They were also able to provide me with various sets of offers covering a broad price range. They were not pushy towards recommending the most expensive system. They were engaged, and truly helped us finds package that best fit ALL of our needs. Donny is their manager, and is perhaps the most accessible person I have ever hired for a project. He responds to my emails immediately, even if it’s late at night or on the weekends. He does not work off of commission, and it shows! He’s a very honest person, and clearly enjoys his job. He goes WAY above and beyond in helping his clients. The installation crew was also fantastic. They were respectful, organized, and had exceptional attention to detail. It’s a very professional looking installation, and a major upgrade for us. I would recommend Tyler LLC without hesitation to anyone. They have a customer in me for life."

we had a leak problem and the tech came and looked over our equipment, fixed the problem and left. It cost us nothing and we have had their home heating service contracts for over 20 years.  They have NEVER ONCE not shown up or not helped and in the two furnace emergencies we had--they were here with in 1hr.

We are very happy.

"I had purchased a new digital thermostat and needed it installed. Ramon & his son installed it within an hour, replaced the outdated wiring to the gas furnace and made sure it was working. Overall, a great experience and a fair price."

"I rated them B for responsiveness because the first time I called I was told they would call back and they did not. As you would expect the price was too high. They ended up tightening a union of pipes and testing to see if it leaked. The first time it was tightened, it did leak and they went to replace the part. A second tech tightened it further, retested and it did not leak. Not sure why the first person didn't tighten further. So the question remains; is the problem solved. We will see when the heating season begins. The techs were young, personable and seemed knowledgeable and willing to answer all my questions. They spent over two hours here, some of it waiting to get the heating up for testing. Had a $50.00 coupon or the cost would have been over $400."

"He is honest. There's something to be said for honesty. It's a family run business, but he does everything the right way. Some of the other providers give poor customer service or rip people off and can't get business in their local area and are moving into our area. Lennox is good stuff. He went all the way to Philadelphia just to get me a part."

"The gentlemen from Green Ductors were incredibly professional and clearly explained the problem to us. They explained different options that we had and gave us an estimate for each. We decided to have them install a new dryer vent, and our dryer has been working wonderfully ever since! They even sent us a document with before and after pictures. We would definitely hire them again."

"Jim was very helpful and personable to work with.  I had recently moved to the Huntsville area and was unable to connect my wireless printer.   There were also some things going on with my laptop that made me suspect a virus had somehow gotten on to it, it was running more slowly than usual, and I wasn't happy with the Win7 configuration I had done when I bought the computer.  Jim came in and assessed the problems and we agreed on a time for him to take the laptop and reinstall the OS.  He was able to get the wireless connection to work as well.  He took the computer on a Friday evening and returned it Sunday evening in prime condition.
A few weeks later I  got an error message while reinstalling my accounting software so I called Jim.  He talked me through the problem over the phone and I was able to get the program installed so I could use the program.
Jim is great to work with, his pricing is very fair, he is prompt and reliable.  I will definitely use his services again.

"I needed an electrician to install a 240 volt outlet quickly for an electric dryer coming on Monday. And didn’t know who to use, so went on Angie's List and found Ohms Electrical Services, who responded back within a few hours of calling and was able to come the next day. Lloyd was the electrician, who came and did a great job. He knows his stuff and if very personable and professional. He also saw work a past electrician had done that was not to code and explained why and that is was a safety issue, so will be having him back soon to fix that as well as other projects. Definitely, would recommend and very reasonable price."

FAQs for swamp cooler installation and replacement projects in Newtown, CT

Swamp coolers are quite energy-efficient, using only 15% to 35% of the electricity that traditional central air conditioning units consume. This can lead to significant savings on your energy bills. However, keep in mind that swamp coolers require water to operate and may not cool your home as effectively in extremely hot or humid conditions. When considering overall efficiency, it is essential to weigh both electricity and water usage, as well as the cooling needs specific to your local climate.

Evaporative coolers only work in dry climates because they cool by moistening the air. If the air is already moist, this will have little to no cooling effect. Central AC is a better choice if you live in a humid climate, such as the Midwest, eastern, or western coastal regions.

To install a swamp cooler on a roof, a local HVAC specialist will first find and cut a spot free of wiring and obstructions. They’ll then install metal bracing, legs, brackets, the ceiling duct register, ductwork, power, and thermostat wires. Once installed, they’ll seal all openings, attach duct connections, and install a thermostat. Before leaving, they’ll run cool water piping to the unit and inspect all the connections.

The cost to repair your swamp cooler ranges from $50 to $600, depending on the issue, whether new parts are needed, and the chosen repair service. Depending on the type of pad your system uses, you will need to change out the pads every one to three years for proper operation. When budgeting for the cost to repair a window unit, expect to pay around $230.

The U.S. Department of Energy states that swamp coolers can cool a single room by five to 15 degrees Fahrenheit. However, this largely depends on the size and installation method of the evaporative cooler. You can only achieve these results in a dry climate, such as the American South, as it’s easier to cool rooms in humid environments with central air.

Swamp cooler water usage varies depending on the size of the unit. Smaller evaporative units may use one gallon per hour, while much larger units could use up to 15 gallons of water per hour. Most homeowners can expect their unit to use between seven and 10 gallons of water per hour of usage.
