"Called Goff on Friday morning, 2/2. Tech arrived before noon and diagnosed the problem within 2 hours. Explained options for repair (almost $2k in parts & labor) and replacement. Long story short, we went with a new furnace (old furnace was 15 years old, and repairs would be complex). Given that it was Friday afternoon, they thought the earliest replacement could be made would be Tuesday. The office called me back and let me know they could get it done on Saturday, 2/3, for the same price. They were at the house by 8 am on 2/3 and were done by 1 pm. Awesome service, work and responsiveness."

"The compressor fan failed on our central A/C on Sunday afternoon. I called McGhee's and within an hour a technician was at our home and working on the problem. The fan motor was failing. We talked about the cost of replacing the motor vs. the cost of replacing the A/C unit entirely (it's 14 years old). I wound up deciding to replace the motor at this time, with the awareness that the A/C is probably in the home stretch of its service life. Within 90 minutes of my first phone call we were up and running again. I am enrolled in McGhee's customer care program so that wound up saving me nearly $300 on the work. Great service!"

FAQs for central humidifier installation and replacement projects in Niles, MI

A crawl space dehumidifier is a worthwhile investment, particularly in humid climates or if you've noticed musty odors, mold growth, or wood deterioration. Though costs range from $3,000 to $9,200, this investment helps prevent structural damage that could require far more expensive repairs later. Beyond structural protection, a properly dehumidified crawl space contributes to better overall indoor air quality and may reduce allergens throughout your home. Consider having a professional assessment to determine if your specific situation warrants this investment.

Addressing crawl space moisture effectively often requires a combination of solutions. A complete approach includes encapsulation plus dehumidifier installation. For minor moisture issues, a basic dehumidifier starting at $1,500 may suffice, while severe problems in larger spaces could require systems costing up to $14,000. The most effective moisture control strategy depends on your specific conditions, making a professional assessment valuable for determining the most cost-effective approach for your situation.

For a crawl space measuring 1,500 square feet, you'll need a dehumidifier with a daily capacity of 30 to 50 pints, with unit costs ranging from $150 to $600. Your local climate and existing moisture levels may necessitate adjusting this capacity—homes in particularly humid regions might benefit from higher-capacity units. Professional installers can measure your specific humidity conditions and recommend equipment that is appropriately sized, balancing initial cost with operating efficiency for your unique situation.

Crawl space dehumidifiers add $300 to $500 to your annual electricity expenses when operating continuously. Energy-efficient models reduce this consumption by roughly 15 to 30% compared to standard units. Most contemporary dehumidifiers feature humidity sensors that automatically cycle operation based on current conditions, helping manage energy usage. Proper crawl space encapsulation significantly improves efficiency by creating a controlled environment that requires less dehumidifier runtime, thereby reducing ongoing electricity costs.
