"Infrared Diagnostics is an independent Energy Auditing company. Flemming is great to work with because he's a consummate professional at what he does. Very knowledgeable about building energy issues and in my case I needed an expert I could trust to tell me what I needed and to prove it with science. Flemming did exactly that by providing me with an infrared scan to show me what and where the problems in my home. With this information, and Flemming's recommendations, I can now speak to contractors intelligently and direct them to perform the work that I need done to make sure that the problems are resolved and the job is done as efficiently as possible in a way that saves me time and money. Thanks for your time and advice on how to resolve the issues Flemming!"

"We had previously worked with Energy Monster on a Mass Save audit and then adding insulation to our house. This time, we had the guys from Energy Monster back again to perform an electrical upgrade on our house (100 to 200 amps) and then install five ductless mini-splits for more efficient heating/cooling than our ancient terrible radiators. Despite dealing with a lot of obstacles -- a heat delay due to several 90 degree days and then tons of rain that prevented them from doing the outside work on the days they wanted -- the whole team was professional and efficient and made the most of the time when the weather finally cooperated! (Plus, my dog loved the whole crew and the loved him back.) It has been such a pleasure to work with Energy Monster as we turn our house into the energy efficient home of our dreams. Thank you!! We can't wait for Energy Monster to come back later this summer to install solar panels next!"

"SumZero has been great to work with on this rather complex project. From Paul's communication to Marcelo's great installation leadership, and Daniel's final adjustments this was executed with precision, great communication and quality. I looked at several options, probably had 3-4 other quotes, various vendors, Paul was the only one who understood that I needed an extra zone split and embedded that into the proposal. His team further revised the details during the install to optimize air flow. When COVID-driven supply chain difficulties got in the way, Paul kept us informed and was able to exceed his commitments. Sarai also guided us to a 0% 84-month loan in a couple of days, and promptly refunded deposit money not covered by it. We are excited to have our new Bosch Heat Pump and looking forward to many years of fine operation!"

"Set up an appointment for an initial 10 minute phone call to talk about what we wanted. Tom ended up spending 25 minutes with us and answered a ton of questions. We subsequently set up an appointment for an initial pre-build inspection of the foundation, framing, roof, and windows. Tom was very thorough. He obviously knew his stuff. Pointed out several items that needed addressing before the insulation and walls went up. Couldn’t be happier with the amount of time he spent, how thorough he was and how much he listened to all my stupid questions and answered them in a language that I could understand. We will have him back before the next phase starts and probably a couple more times before we close. Anyone building a house or buying a new home would be wise to hire Tom. Great piece of mind and cheap insurance. Plus, he’s a really nice guy to boot."

"We consider ourselves very lucky for having chosen New England Clean Energy as our solar installer. From the beginning to the end of the project, NECE was responsive, punctual, helpful and very focused on giving us the best - we always felt they put us, their customer, first. We are very happy customers, secure in the knowledge that no matter what issues may come up with our system, NECE is a phone call or an email away, with courteous, prompt answers. We wholeheartedly recommend them."

"James Richardson, my sales rep has been excellent throughout the entire process, providing expertise in all areas of the sale, service, banking, product. He has set the right expectations along the way. Unfortunately, Palmetto moved too fast to distance themselves from Sunlight Financial, causing me significant anxiety and distress, ultimately backtracking to get me back on track losing two weeks in my installation."

FAQs for home energy audit projects in Norwood, MA

To prepare for a home energy audit, begin by preparing your space. Clear any obstructions around the attic, basement, ducts, crawl space, appliances, windows, and doors. Gather all your energy bills from the last year and information on home upgrades if you’ve made any changes. If you’ve previously had an audit done, include that information as well.

Finally, be prepared to discuss any questions or concerns you have. If you’ve noticed a rise in your energy bills, hot or cold areas in your home, or unusual sounds from ducts or appliances, make a list to discuss with your auditor.

How often you should get an energy audit depends on the age and condition of your home. New homes with no issues are recommended to get an audit every five years, while older homes should audit every two to three years. If you’ve noticed any changes to your energy bills or other areas of concern, you should get an audit as soon as possible. It’s also a good idea to conduct an audit if you’ve made changes or upgrades to your home, such as installing a new furnace, windows, or doors.

An energy audit takes three to four hours to complete. Your auditor sets up testing equipment, conducts an exhaustive walk‑through inspection, and performs all required evaluations to identify energy loss points. The audit follows a systematic review that includes visual assessments, mechanical tests, and detailed documentation, resulting in a precise report of improvement recommendations.

You can schedule a home energy audit any time of the year—it all depends on what's convenient for you. That said, timing it right can help you tackle issues before they impact your comfort and bills. If you live in a colder climate and want to avoid high heating costs in the winter, getting an audit in the summer allows you to make improvements before the temperature drops. On the contrary, if hot summers are your concern, a spring audit can help you stay cool and save on air conditioning.

To find a qualified home energy auditor, start by searching for local energy auditors with great reviews and recognized certifications like those from the Building Performance Institute (BPI). These credentials ensure they're qualified and can help you qualify for rebates. Don't hesitate to ask about their audit methods and schedule a consultation to see if they're a good fit for your needs. Doing some research upfront helps you get top-notch service and maximize your energy efficiency.

Once you have your energy audit report, it's time to take action. Review the recommendations and prioritize the upgrades that make the most sense for your home and budget. Reach out to experienced pros to get quotes and discuss how they can help. By making these improvements, you'll boost your home's energy efficiency, lower your utility bills, and enjoy a more comfortable living space.
