"I could have not asked for a better person to cover my porch and extending it 8 feet. The work he did was more than professional. He helped design the overlay of the porch making it into a deck. Completion date was done on time, cleaned up every day at the end did not leave any debris laying around. I would highly recommend John block deck contractor to anyone looking to have a deck or porch cover extension work done. John and his son Josh were very professional and enjoyed working with them during the project."

"Our project started out as renovating a 16'x14' deck, 6 feet above the backyard grade, that had seen better days. We also had asked for an add-alternate to put a roof over the deck (we have always wanted to enclose it). After we received the quote, which was less than a few others (but not the cheapest), we asked them to provide a quote for converting to a sunroom -- just the shell as we would do the interior ourselves. The price they quoted was fair and reasonable. From demo of the old deck to the completed sunroom took 23 working days (not including rain/snow days -- they started in February). The structure is substantial and the roof tied into the existing house well. They didn't balk when we decided that we wanted to include a skylight or other minor extras. I kept telling Steve and Brandon (our contractors) that they are selling themselves short -- they do so much more than decks and fences, which was one of my concerns before they started. Steve is a fantastic carpenter who takes his time figuring things out and very attentive to the little dettails that makes a good project a great one. Brandon has experience in siding and roofing. And they work so well together, were very respectful and courteous of our property. Greg and Jen in the office are a treat to work with and very responsive -- always returning emails and phone calls right away if they can't pick up. We give this team 5 stars and cannot recommend them highly enough. I'd submit a picture if I could."

"Amazing work by Oak Roots. Jake met with us several times to design out our build which had a few unique features we wanted. We also threw in a last minute add that he was able to fit into the build (cost more of course). The build took a little over a week and most of the work was done offsite and when they arrived to build onsite everything went together perfectly."

"Our new deck looks terrific! We had an old, elevated wooden deck that was likely over 20 years old. We solicited multiple quotes from various deck builders, but Building Character won our business because of their product offering, extensive planning and design service, their competitive pricing, and their personal touch. We had a fairly large deck that spanned the entire house and we wanted a new elevated deck of similar dimensions, using composite decking, metal railing, and a new frame. We are thrilled with the results! They just completed the work this week and the deck looks amazing. "Went to their store a month ago , they were supposed to come out and give me an estimate , have never seen or heard from them again , guess I'll have to get someone else to do the job !"

"Someone came out to check our interior and exterior walls. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. He said there were no major leaks in the mortar that were visible and the leaks were most likely coming from behind the gutter. He explained that the gutter would need to be removed, meaning I would need to hire a roofer since they do not deal with gutters or roofing and that I would end up paying for two jobs. He suggested instead that I find a roofer that would remove the gutter who was skilled enough to do the necessary tuckpointing to save us money. He also looked at the interior damage and told us the materials to buy because we said we wanted to repair that ourselves. He was extremely helpful and gave us the most economical suggestions rather than booking repairs with them and hiring a roofer. If we need work done to our masonry or foundation only in the future, I will definitely go with Hicon."
