"Matthew responded very quickly to my call and showed up promptly thereafter. He was very professional and worked diligently to get my boiler working again and the heat restored to my home. He was able to diagnose the problem rather quickly and fixed the issue, even going so far as to explain many of the parts he had to replace and made me feel very comfortable that my unit was running efficiently when it was all done. "I am a big fan of Heritage. We needed to replace our broken furnace and I got quotes from five different HVAC companies, all of which had many 5-star reviews. Heritage was the best, by far, for a few reasons: Dexter, the HVAC project manager from Heritage, was professional and patient. He answered all of my questions, applied no sales pressure, helped me customize the job to my budget and needs, and even brought us space heaters to keep the house warm since we had no heat in winter. Heritage was one of only two companies to actually take detailed measurements of my home before recommending a furnace size and submitting an estimate. Three of the companies just eye-balled it and recommended furnaces that were twice the size of what Heritage recommended. Some of them told me I had to replace my entire heating and cooling system or I would have major problems (which Dexter debunked). If an HVAC project manager does not bother to measure your house before recommending a furnace size, you should be concerned. Dexter helped me every step of the way with the HEAT loan and furnace rebate process. Dexter worked around my busy work schedule and communicated in person, phone, email, and text, depending on what was best for my workday. After the furnace was installed, the house got uncomfortably dry and we realized we needed to add a whole-house humidifier (which Dexter had recommended originally). Heritage was able to come out the morning after we called and put in a humidifier and the house was comfortable within a day. The Heritage install and service guys (Fran, Bob) were professional, patient, and courteous from start to finish. The installation site was clean and well-labeled. They checked in with me and explained important items along the way. The Heritage office staff are always reachable and helpful with any scheduling, billing, or follow-up questions. The only drawback is they are definitely a premium brand and charge on the higher end for their work. They quoted higher than any of the other four companies. That said, I was able to negotiate the price and I was happy to pay a little extra for a job well done, a strong warranty, and professional service. Honestly, Heritage won me over and I will only use them in the future for my HVAC needs. They were transparent and professional and I never felt like I was getting hustled (unlike a few other big-name brands). Now I recommend Heritage to everyone I know."

"I needed 2 dryer vents cleaned - one on the 2nd floor and a vent cap replaced (also on the 2nd floor). All the companies I initially contacted would not do the job for a variety of reason. Superior did all the work I needed plus replaced the dryer hose on one unit (which we had not discussed). Additionally, I had purchased a vent cap but it did not fit. Superior had one on the truck which did fit and they got the job done! Excellent service!"

"Sooo....first, Jim is a very nice guy.  However, Jim now works in Nashville during the week and is only home to the Huntsville area on the weekends.
My first impression of him was that he was awesome.  My computer system had crashed because I pulled the plug during a thunder storm before the computer fully shut down which resulted in the computer hanging up.  Jim took my call while in Tennessee and suggested how to fix the system.  For this I am very grateful.

What happened next was I had him come and check my computer to make sure everything was working properly.  He came to my house and spent an hour tweaking it (basically running various checks on the system), for which I paid him $50.  He suggested that my laptop would work much better if I had Windows 7 and increased my RAM up to 4 GB.  He said he could install it for me for (including the RAM) for about $160.  We met the following weekend for the handoff and he loaded Window 7.  When I received the call it was ready, the bill was $227.50.  I was surprised that is was $70 more than quoted, but paid it anyways.  When I asked about the RAM, he mentioned he did not upgrade the RAM and this would be another $60.  I was a little discouraged at that point since I felt like I was being taken advantage of, but the guy is relatively nice, so I said to go ahead and order the RAM.  He did so and the following weekend was supposed to install it.  Due to some personal things in his life, he wasn't able to install it, so I picked it up since I had to go out of town and could use the IT guy at my new location to install it for me.  When we went to install the RAM, the system wouldn't let us do it since my particular type of laptop can only take 2GB of RAM max.  If Jim had gone to the crucial.com website (where he bought my RAM) and entered my computer system on it, it would have told him the max amount of RAM that could be installed on that unit.  He did not do that.  He is supposed to refund my $60 this next weekend.

I think if Jim wasn't burning the candle at both ends by having a job in Tennessee during the week and trying to run this business on the weekends, it would've been a better experience.  Perhaps taking a few extra minutes to SLOW DOWN and write out an estimate of everything he would need for the job including the prices would ensure people know up front how much the repair would/should cost so they can budget accordingly.  I think if he had taken that approach, it might've been a better experience.  So now I am stuck with a laptop that runs slower because Windows 7 uses more memory and a laptop that can't be upgraded to more RAM.  Basically, the last step which cost me almost $300 was not necessary.  If you need something simple done like coming back from a system crash, he would be okay to use.  Otherwise, for the bigger jobs, I recommend he provide a written estimate with the items he plans to do.

UPDATE:  After posting this review, I received a number of text messages from Jim commenting on the bad review.  I understand he is upset, but harassing someone about a review is not a good way to go.  My review was honest and not meant to be mean, but to let those that use Angie's list get what they pay for...an honest review of someone's experience."

"I installed central air with zoning and converted oil to gas. Some minor mistakes were made during the installation and I ended up with a giant vent in the floor I did not know was going to be there. Thermostats were swapped, on floors but I was able to fix it. They never insulated any of the pipes for me like the owner said he would do when we were installing. He later said that costs extra. The upstairs AC is not very good, because it does not blow out with much power. This is an oversight on the company when it comes to unit size and whether or not the air would actually reach the second floor. Overall disappointed with the AC but I am happy I have natural gas. This was one of the only companies I could find that would do the AC, but now it feels like they were using smoke and mirrors."
