Customers say: True professional

"Peter is a very knowledgeable and patient guy - he helped us understand our energy usage and even showed us how to read the usage of individual appliances used in our home. He also provided a full report on potential issues with specific windows, and had really good information about planning for future HVAC improvements. We feel so much better about our future home improvement projects after our home energy audit with Posert Energy!"

"It's excellent.  They came in stages and explained what they have to offer and that person was really good; he answered all my questions.  The second day, they had the construction form and told me what to do.  He looked all over the place and he looked it over again; the salesperson too.  He was passing on the information to the other former construction to tell them what they were going to do.  The actual crew who came in were very open to what they were doing; open to the changes I was requested.  They were open to addressing my concerns but noise; that was what I really concerned about.  The same company came in to do the energy audit.  The third group; she was doing the rebates for me and I didn't have to do anything.  They're really on top of it all and the guy who does the billing; he's giving me breakdowns on what they're asking for payment.  It was halfway was 45 % and the other was another 45%.  All this groups are really specialized.  Everything they promised me; I got and it's really hard quality.  I like this quality.  They had my business.  They were very well-staffed and they're really top-notch.  They really know what they were doing.  It was just spontaneous and it was really nice.  The inspector was genuinely impressed on what he saw.  The inspector was quite meticulous.  They said they would be there and they were.  The office is only 5 minutes from my house so that really helps.  Everything they did was excellent.  Everything was placed nicely.  He put a lot of thought were the switches would be; the light fixtures would be.  It is functional and effective.   They're very reasonable.  They're very trustworthy.  They're legitimate."

"Sasha Shempliner at Harmony Air is a man integrity, and is extremely knowledgeable about HVAC systems and solar energy. I wholeheartedly recommend working with him for your HVAC and solar needs. We built a new home in 2016, and had met Sasha at the Rebuild Expo in Middletown. Once we had our plans, Sasha walked us through what we would need to heat and cool our home comfortably and efficiently. We went with a ductless system of six Mitsubishi mini-splits, and are very happy with the efficiency of the system he installed for us. The fact that you can choose to heat or cool individual rooms as opposed to turning on a whole house system means we can avoid using too much energy. The units are very quiet when operating too. The filtration system is waste free, which is another bonus. Simply remove the filter, run it under the sink, let it dry, and put it back in place. Nothing to dispose of, and no need to go buy new filters. We can also remotely control the system using an app on our phone. One of the exterior compressors had a circuit board get “fried” by a power surge. Sasha explained that this was something he had never seen happen with the Mitsubishi units, arranged to get a replacement, and installed it without charging us for the labor. Sasha also installed a solar energy system for us. He came and determined whether a system would work at our site with no consultation fee. He then explained what we were capable of producing given the solar placement we agreed upon. Sasha suggested we wait to purchase the full capacity of what we could install so we didn’t spend money on solar panels we didn’t need. My parents also hired Sasha to install a solar system on their home, and their praise of his work is equally high. I believe you will be very satisfied should you work with Harmony Air."

"We are a large family, and require heating and air conditioning, HVAC, throughout the year. At the same time, we were looking for a solution that would not cost us an arm and leg. So without hesitation, we consulted with Charlie from Landmark Energy Upgrades. Charlie, was referred to us by my sister in law that used them in the past for a similar work. Landmark Energy Upgrades really proved to be energy efficiency experts and audited our home thoroughly while patiently answering our questions. They not only made us aware of the total energy consumption, but also how we can cut down the utility bills. Charlie and his team have been accommodating in finding the right solution for us while totally staying within our estimate. <br />"

FAQs for home energy audit projects in San Francisco, CA

To prepare for a home energy audit, begin by preparing your space. Clear any obstructions around the attic, basement, ducts, crawl space, appliances, windows, and doors. Gather all your energy bills from the last year and information on home upgrades if you’ve made any changes. If you’ve previously had an audit done, include that information as well.

Finally, be prepared to discuss any questions or concerns you have. If you’ve noticed a rise in your energy bills, hot or cold areas in your home, or unusual sounds from ducts or appliances, make a list to discuss with your auditor.

How often you should get an energy audit depends on the age and condition of your home. New homes with no issues are recommended to get an audit every five years, while older homes should audit every two to three years. If you’ve noticed any changes to your energy bills or other areas of concern, you should get an audit as soon as possible. It’s also a good idea to conduct an audit if you’ve made changes or upgrades to your home, such as installing a new furnace, windows, or doors.

An energy audit takes three to four hours to complete. Your auditor sets up testing equipment, conducts an exhaustive walk‑through inspection, and performs all required evaluations to identify energy loss points. The audit follows a systematic review that includes visual assessments, mechanical tests, and detailed documentation, resulting in a precise report of improvement recommendations.

You can schedule a home energy audit any time of the year—it all depends on what's convenient for you. That said, timing it right can help you tackle issues before they impact your comfort and bills. If you live in a colder climate and want to avoid high heating costs in the winter, getting an audit in the summer allows you to make improvements before the temperature drops. On the contrary, if hot summers are your concern, a spring audit can help you stay cool and save on air conditioning.

To find a qualified home energy auditor, start by searching for local energy auditors with great reviews and recognized certifications like those from the Building Performance Institute (BPI). These credentials ensure they're qualified and can help you qualify for rebates. Don't hesitate to ask about their audit methods and schedule a consultation to see if they're a good fit for your needs. Doing some research upfront helps you get top-notch service and maximize your energy efficiency.

Once you have your energy audit report, it's time to take action. Review the recommendations and prioritize the upgrades that make the most sense for your home and budget. Reach out to experienced pros to get quotes and discuss how they can help. By making these improvements, you'll boost your home's energy efficiency, lower your utility bills, and enjoy a more comfortable living space.
