"I cannot say enough great things about my experiences with Ben's Heating and Cooling. If you have a complicated system/job, you need these guy's experience and help. They are more than helpful; they listen and are super responsive. They do what they say they will do when they say they will do it, and their prices are more than fair. My story follows: To start, we bought our house about 8 years ago and the heating unit has never performed well; I'll get to why shortly. On 2 occasions in the past, we reached out to Ben's for repair work on it, initially because of the maintenance sticker on the unit had their info. And though the unit was REALLY old, they did what they could to limp it along as best as they could (at our request). Well, after (what ended up being) 42 years of service, the furnace finally had had it. I called up Ben's because they had been so helpful in the past. Because we had a situation where we did not have any heating (and it was starting to get really cold outside), they gave us priority to come out and get things going. Keith came out and did a great job listening to my concerns and made some great recommendations. When it became clear that our house was going to be more than just a swap out of old unit to the new unit (we also wanted to add AC to the house), he brought in Brandon (Keith's manager, I believe) to come out and see if there were any other considerations that needed to be addressed to make this happen. I'm glad he did, because he found that there would need to be some drastic changes to how the unit would be installed to accommodate my requests (this due to the space constraints in the location the furnace was in and what we wanted in a new system). I really wanted that AC, so we talked about some clever ways that they could make that work. In the meantime between when we settled on the equipment I'd need and when they could install it (only a few days later), Brandon offered to have space heaters brought out to the house for us, and they did a couple hours later that day. To take a story that is already going long and summarize: what we ended up doing was moving the location of the furnace/AC stack to a place in my house with more room for it and altering the duct design to suit the new location. This allowed for much more even air flow in my late 70s 2-story house. The problem was that the house's duct design was compromised when a previous owner (probably in the late 1990s), had had the basement finished and the contractor (who obviously had no experience with duct design) just hooked up the vents the easiest way possible, with no consideration to air flow/pressure. Our downstairs media room was ALWAYS cold, as was our family room (these locations are at the extreme ends of the house). When Bruce (the lead installer for my project) came out the Friday before the work was to begin on Monday, that is when I was absolutely sure I was working with the right company. Bruce came up with some great ideas to take a simple idea I had: 'let's just add AC while we are getting a new furnace', and detail it out and turn it into a workable solution. Due to the complexity of the job, it took 2 and a half days to get the system installed and calibrated, and Bruce, Walker and Austin were fantastic to work with. Great guys and they worked hard each day, all day. Their results speak for themselves. I got a new thermostat with the system (Honeywell with remote sensors, Ben's sells them) and it is showing even temps across all measured rooms in the house (never more than a degree or two) variance. I consider that to be amazing in this house, and this is not a multi-zone system either. Here is what it is: the right system, the right design, installed and setup by the right people. That is what you can expect from the team at Ben's Heating and Cooling. Thanks for reading this and I hope you will consider Ben's for your heating and cooling needs as well (easy or complex, they do it right)."

"An ongoing nightmare that started two days before Christmas 2025. Sunset responded quickly when my furnace stopped. Recommended a new furnace which I agreed to and they charged my card. They sent a young man to do the new furnace install. It turns out that he had never done an independent install before. He worked unsupervised, The job was meant to take 4 hours- turned into 9 and he totally damaged the thermostat and zoning system which had previously worked perfectly. I won't bore you with the details- and there are lots- the manager of the company Casey Clemons agreed to reverse the charges and did not, we had to cancel Christmas plans to deal with the ongoing drama- we could not leave the home with no heat-but after a month of the manager Casey not returning calls - I traveled from out of state back to the house and it took an entire week to resolve the problem. Sunset did acknowledge responsibility, but there was additional damage and now the manager is not returning calls."

"This company advertises on their website and all other profiles that they offer 24/7 emergency services but very clearly only operate 40 hours a week. After repairing a part for me 6 weeks ago, I found my furnace malfunctioning again and due to the recent repair I felt obligated to go through Rose Heating again in case it was the same part malfunctioning (as it would be under warranty). I called and left voicemails on 4 separate days (all during regular business hours) and did not receive a call back until I reached out to a competitor. The competitor (who does not advertise 24/7 services) was not able to schedule me for a few weeks but was kind enough to call Rose Heating while I was on the line to attempt to reach them directly. It was not until this competitor left a voicemail on my behalf that I finally received a response from Rose Heating. After explaining my gripe to Jim (owner of Rose Heating) he was not apologetic whatsoever and essentially told me I was free to use another company in the future. I was not offered any consolation and was charged for the full service fee and part that needed to be replaced. I'm extremely disappointed in their customer service for ignoring my voicemails for 5 days (while advertising 24/7 services). I fully believe I would have been ignored had the competitor not reached out on my behalf. Jim also did not understand why I felt obligated to use Rose Heating even after explaining that I, as a layman, have no way of knowing if it's the same part he had just replaced that is malfunctioning again. Jim will tout over and over again that they've been in business for over 60 years (3rd generation owner) and they're the oldest HVAC company in the state. However, inheriting a family business does not give you a pass to provide non-existent customer service. The success of his grandfather's business is not any indication that Jim will provide the same level of quality they might have once been known for."

"If you need a garbage disposal installed then by all means use David (fyi there are no other employees). However, I paid $150 an hour for David to learn how to install shower hardware/plumbing and toilets in four bathrooms as he has ZERO knowledge of anything outside of your run of the mill Home Depot Kohler or Moen fixtures. Several times I had the saleslady from the hardware store on the phone with David explaining how the pieces went together. In the end I had to finally find another plumber as he was just eating up time at $150 and hour. Oh, and yesterday the new plumber discovered that he installed one of the toilets incorrectly and it leaked and warped the wood floors. I emailed this to David who of course said it could never have been his fault. AVOID"

"NW Seismic made a very easy process for estimating and installation. Their drywall and plaster work was particularly well done. They also made some excellent recommendations regarding natural gas shut-offs and securing our water tank. Very professional from beginning to end. Would hire again anytime."

FAQs for gas piping projects in Scappoose, OR

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
