"I have used other plumbers before...none of whom did the work entirely to my satisfaction, and many of whom found ways to increase their "firm" quotes. I chose Drain Pro because of their almost perfect 5-star rating. I now know why they have that rating. The man who took my call was Raymond or Raman (Ramandeep Singh), the company president. He was pleasant, friendly, and gave me a reasonable ballpark quote (assuming no major problems). It was not the lowest estimate to do the job, but I wanted it done right. He arrived right on time. The only part of the job that went smoothly was the bathroom faucet replacement, and it went quickly. The kitchen sink partial-clog turned out to be several heavy accretions of hardened grease in one eight-foot section of pipe that had become CONcretions over the years -- some of the grease had come from previous owners...and likely some from us. He tried the big power-snake twice, but couldn't force the gizmo (heavy steel screw-spring) through the blockage. He slithered into the crawlspace to see if there were some abnormality in the pipes...nope. So up he came -- he took off the gizmo, and forced the bare cable-end through the blockages, back and forth several times -- ran the water to see if the blockage was gone...nope, even worse than before (he felt that some of the smaller blockages had moved, become a "log-jam"). He tried it again with the gizmo...nope. At this point he said there were only two good solutions: (a) cut out and replace the section of pipe with the hardened blockages; and (b) bring in the cavalry with special equipment and do a "hydro-jet" clean out -- both these processes would more than double his original bid. But just to be sure, he tried it once more with just the bare snake-end. And lo & behold, the blockage was gone! ...I hope. Raman said it could come back, and we could do the hydro-jet operation, if needed. Then he rebuilt a toilet (several small problems). The bolts holding the tank on were so bad he had to use a sawzall to cut them off. He replaced all the parts, installed the new flush mechanism, and it is now as silent as can be. Hallelujah! With all the problems he encountered, I expected a demand (or request) for more money. Nope. He stuck with his original bid. As I said at the top, his wasn't the low bid. But he did all the work correctly, kept everything spotless clean, and was friendly and cheerful throughout. Without any hesitation, I strongly recommend this company in general, and Raman in particular."

"Another plumber charged over $4k and said it would be another $31k to dig up my front yard and replace a sewer line. I think I was being conned! Geoff showed up quickly, fixed it easily and the cost was about $1.5k. Tenants are happy, I'm happy, Geoff is a superhero! "

"This sewer line project required a few days from camera work to excavation, replacement of pipe, installation of an additional clean-out, backfill and clean up of not only our excavation area, but consideration of our neighbor's shrub close to the work area. Chris and Ryne, the company supervisors/representatives, provided knowledgable and detailed information prior to, during and upon completion of the work. They were professional and exceptionally courteous in person, to our neighbors, and over the phone. This was especially important as one of us was out of state during the project, and the other had to leave early for another trip out of state. That meant the final inspections and details were handled by the guys for us. Excellent work, start to finish!"

"Veteran-owned business. Honest, reputable and on time for the appointment. Ross and David spent all afternoon clearing out two clogged drain spouts and replaced/repaired a badly cracked PVC pipe after hydro jetting them. They inserted a snake with a camera and showed me the problem. They also provided a veteranâ  s discount! Thank You. Brad Pesek"

"Harts replaced all of our water and sewer lines and did a great job. Our crew was extremely courteous, professional, and respectful annd we trusted that they were treating our plumbing like their own. Jason did a great job leading the crew. It was a big project and we didnâ t quite know what to expect, but Jason was incredibly communicative and accommodating throughout the project and worked hard to ensure that we understood everything they were doing. They took extra care to minimize our service disruption which was greatly appreciated. We would absolutely recommend Harts!"

"My sewer line backed up the afternoon of 4/19. I've used Roto-Rooter previously and had reasonably happy with response and work. The office asked questions to determine the severity of damage and impact. Since the flow had stopped, I was willing to wait until the next day for service. Given to choice of 4 hour time windows, I choose 8am -12noon. Next morning, I was called by dispatch, asked more questions. The service charge of $400 seems pretty steep, but I reminded myself part of the charge is for expedited service which I needed badly. Service Technician Narcis Ciceu arrived about an hour after the dispatch call. Narcis proved to be a smart and conscientious person. He was polite and very good at explaining what he was doing. I've had other technicians look at my sluggish back drain, but Narcis was the first to take the time to get it open. I was extremely happy about that. If I have plumbing/drain problems in the future, I would request Mr Ciceu be sent on the call. I'd know for sure things would be done right."

"Jerry was very enjoyable and professional in replacing a bent lead toilet connection which had leaked at the toilet. He replaced the old lead connection to the cast iron sewer pipe with modern ABS pipe and installed a flange to attach the new toilet to when the floor is completed."

"We were in a jam. We are attempting to buy our first home. We had our inspection scheduled and on the morning of, we learned of a potential plumbing issue. There was a report filed with the city stating that a couple of years ago there was some kind of sewer back up. This house is old, so I wanted to make sure we weren't signing up for any potential problems. I called around to local plumbers in the area. NONE of them were able to accommodate our need on this shortened time frame. I got Zach's number from a contractor friend of mine and in a last ditch effort gave him a call. Unlike some of the other plumbers I'd spoken with, Zach validated my concerns and informed me that he would recommend that I have my system inspected. He was very patient with my partner and I, making room for us that evening to show up in exemplary fashion. He did a full inspection of our sewer lines with a camera and explained to us what the different piping meant. He then tested our water pressure and advised us to request that the seller offer concessions to cover the cost of putting in a pressure reduction valve. He explained the reasoning behind his recommendations and took time to insure that we understood why he was recommending these services. He also took the time to explain and answer questions about potential upgrades as my partner wants to upgrade the hot water tank. He outlined different product options and explained with great knowledge and detail the differences between the products. I would highly recommend this company. If we get the home we will definitely be having this company come back and preform the necessary work that is needed for our new home."

"This was a large pipe with significant blockage near the far end of where Seattle Select inserted the hydro-jet hose. They were able to remove some of the obstruction, but, unfortunately, did not remove the major root obstruction and therefore did not clear the pipe. Since it takes about 30 minutes to fill the water tank, we only got about 1.5 hours of work and they were not interested in running the pipe again. My neighbor asked them to run the video camera down the pipe, but the water was so murky, they weren't able to see much. We had to dig up the pipe during the summer and clear/repair the pipe ourselves. <br />"

FAQs for sewer main install, replace or repair projects in Seattle, WA

When installing a sewer line, you should consider extra costs like tree removal, driveway repairs, or patio resurfacing. Hiring a professional plumber is essential, and you may need additional specialists if landscaping or heavy excavation is involved. Addressing these potential extras up front helps ensure accurate budgeting and prevents sudden cost overruns.

To calculate the length of sewer piping you need, measure the distance from your house to the main sewer line, adding the depth of the city main to this distance. Be sure to account for any obstacles like tree roots or utility lines that may require additional piping.

City sewer lines are installed at a lower elevation to prevent unwanted backflow and water damage. This lower positioning ensures enhanced performance and long-term safety, meeting all technical and safety standards.

With trenchless methods, a plumber inserts a smaller pipe within the existing plumbing, avoiding full excavation. It can be more cost-effective and less disruptive than traditional methods, but it's not suitable for all homes.

Yes, you must secure permission from your local water authority before connecting to a public sewer line. This approval ensures your connection meets all regulatory requirements.

Sewer lines are buried between 18 inches and 8 feet deep, with most systems placed between 18 and 30 inches. In colder regions, pipes are set deeper to remain below the frost line.
