"I bought a really nice regency gas fireplace from South Shore Fireplace and couldn't have been happier with the way they treated me and completed the installation. They were the most attentive and considerate companies I approached which is why I went with them. We couldn't get the time of day from other fireplace stores. These guys were right on the ball from the start. Spent a lot of time going over the different stoves and options that go with them all. The installation was scheduled and went very well. Installers were very thorough and clean. This was a complete installation, needed the chimney as well as the stove. Everything was done perfectly and I couldn't be happier. Recently, the stove I picked had a recall and I was informed and updated by Scott as soon as he had news. This actually went on for a couple of months but Scott would contact me every couple of weeks and let me know what was going on. When the replacement part came in, they scheduled the work IMMEDIATELY and I met Jon, one of the senior techs and installers. Jon was on time, meticulous and thorough. Very clean and organized as you would expect a master craftsman to be. The repair went very well and made my stove run better than ever before. When your happy with a job someone does for you, you hardly ever write a review but something turns sour, people can't write one quick enough. When I need something done, I go online and read all the awful reviews of probably great companies so I do not hire them. This review is for all of you that are like me and come here to get the low down on a business. Do not hesitate to go with South Shore Fireplace. "I needed 2 dryer vents cleaned - one on the 2nd floor and a vent cap replaced (also on the 2nd floor). All the companies I initially contacted would not do the job for a variety of reason. Superior did all the work I needed plus replaced the dryer hose on one unit (which we had not discussed). Additionally, I had purchased a vent cap but it did not fit. Superior had one on the truck which did fit and they got the job done! Excellent service!"

"Steve returned my initial call promptly and came over the same day for a rough estimate. I wasn't quite sure yet when I needed the work, Steve was fine with that, and gave me an estimate. As soon as my landscapers were ready to have the place cleared, I called Steve and he scheduled me in for a week later. When he came, he showed up exactly when he said he would (6:45 AM to make sure to scope out the place properly before his crew showed up), and made sure that he understood exactly what I wanted. Throughout the two days of work, Steve called me to check in and to make sure that he was doing the job the way I wanted it. There were no problems at all, and Steve even called and emailed after the job to make sure I was happy with his work. The yard was cleared perfectly, and for a reasonable price, and there was no debris, dirt, or anything left anywhere."

"Tingley Electrical has been great.  I originally contacted them in January via their website to address a number of electric projects I had been putting off.  Someone from their office called me quite quickly to discuss the various items I wanted done, explain their pricing and schedule a time for them to perform the work.  They were able to provide me an appointment very quickly and accommodate my schedule.  Mike showed up a few minutes early for the appointment, was professional and courteous, and he walked through each of the items on the list.  He explained the options he had for timers, dimmers, etc and then went to work.  He performed each of the items on my list quickly and efficiently.  For the items I had requested an estimate for (installing ceiling lights in a few rooms), he said someone from the office would follow-up with an estimate by e-mail.  After I followed up a few days later, Vincent sent the estimate quite quickly and the estimate was quite reasonable.  I decided to hold off on having the ceiling lights installed, but I had a few more electrical items (replacing a motion sensor and installing a few additional LED dimmers) so contacted Tingley to perform these additional tasks.  They again responded quickly by phone and set up an appointment for only a couple days later that worked for my schedule.  Mike again showed up promptly, walked through the items with me and worked quickly on each item.  I have used Tingley twice now (1/16/14 and 2/10/14), and I have been please with their prices, quality, responsiveness and professionalism.  They are definitely my go-to electrician going forward.

"Sooo....first, Jim is a very nice guy.  However, Jim now works in Nashville during the week and is only home to the Huntsville area on the weekends.
My first impression of him was that he was awesome.  My computer system had crashed because I pulled the plug during a thunder storm before the computer fully shut down which resulted in the computer hanging up.  Jim took my call while in Tennessee and suggested how to fix the system.  For this I am very grateful.

What happened next was I had him come and check my computer to make sure everything was working properly.  He came to my house and spent an hour tweaking it (basically running various checks on the system), for which I paid him $50.  He suggested that my laptop would work much better if I had Windows 7 and increased my RAM up to 4 GB.  He said he could install it for me for (including the RAM) for about $160.  We met the following weekend for the handoff and he loaded Window 7.  When I received the call it was ready, the bill was $227.50.  I was surprised that is was $70 more than quoted, but paid it anyways.  When I asked about the RAM, he mentioned he did not upgrade the RAM and this would be another $60.  I was a little discouraged at that point since I felt like I was being taken advantage of, but the guy is relatively nice, so I said to go ahead and order the RAM.  He did so and the following weekend was supposed to install it.  Due to some personal things in his life, he wasn't able to install it, so I picked it up since I had to go out of town and could use the IT guy at my new location to install it for me.  When we went to install the RAM, the system wouldn't let us do it since my particular type of laptop can only take 2GB of RAM max.  If Jim had gone to the crucial.com website (where he bought my RAM) and entered my computer system on it, it would have told him the max amount of RAM that could be installed on that unit.  He did not do that.  He is supposed to refund my $60 this next weekend.

I think if Jim wasn't burning the candle at both ends by having a job in Tennessee during the week and trying to run this business on the weekends, it would've been a better experience.  Perhaps taking a few extra minutes to SLOW DOWN and write out an estimate of everything he would need for the job including the prices would ensure people know up front how much the repair would/should cost so they can budget accordingly.  I think if he had taken that approach, it might've been a better experience.  So now I am stuck with a laptop that runs slower because Windows 7 uses more memory and a laptop that can't be upgraded to more RAM.  Basically, the last step which cost me almost $300 was not necessary.  If you need something simple done like coming back from a system crash, he would be okay to use.  Otherwise, for the bigger jobs, I recommend he provide a written estimate with the items he plans to do.

UPDATE:  After posting this review, I received a number of text messages from Jim commenting on the bad review.  I understand he is upset, but harassing someone about a review is not a good way to go.  My review was honest and not meant to be mean, but to let those that use Angie's list get what they pay for...an honest review of someone's experience."
