"My a/c wasn't blowing cold air and Jonathan was able to come out within hours of my call. He quickly and accurately diagnosed the problem (failed blower motor and capacitor) and assured me that it would be fixed the same day. Once he found the part he quoted me a fair price and after the work was done, he charged exactly what he had quoted me. He did not once try to sell me a new unit or a maintenance contract or any of those things the big companies often do. If, like me, you are truly just wanting your existing HVAC unit repaired without having to worry about somebody giving you the hard sell, this is your man. He did a great job and I will contact him in the future when the next thing goes wrong with this old A/C unit of mine."

"Scheduled an appt., requesting a quote. He showed up on time, inspect what needed to be done. He said he would call us to give his quote, but we never heard back from him. if we did not hire the other HVAC company, my husband and I would definitely consider using E&J Heating and Cooling to do the job."

FAQs for central humidifier installation and replacement projects in Smithfield, NC

A crawl space dehumidifier is a worthwhile investment, particularly in humid climates or if you've noticed musty odors, mold growth, or wood deterioration. Though costs range from $3,000 to $9,200, this investment helps prevent structural damage that could require far more expensive repairs later. Beyond structural protection, a properly dehumidified crawl space contributes to better overall indoor air quality and may reduce allergens throughout your home. Consider having a professional assessment to determine if your specific situation warrants this investment.

Addressing crawl space moisture effectively often requires a combination of solutions. A complete approach includes encapsulation plus dehumidifier installation. For minor moisture issues, a basic dehumidifier starting at $1,500 may suffice, while severe problems in larger spaces could require systems costing up to $14,000. The most effective moisture control strategy depends on your specific conditions, making a professional assessment valuable for determining the most cost-effective approach for your situation.

For a crawl space measuring 1,500 square feet, you'll need a dehumidifier with a daily capacity of 30 to 50 pints, with unit costs ranging from $150 to $600. Your local climate and existing moisture levels may necessitate adjusting this capacity—homes in particularly humid regions might benefit from higher-capacity units. Professional installers can measure your specific humidity conditions and recommend equipment that is appropriately sized, balancing initial cost with operating efficiency for your unique situation.

Crawl space dehumidifiers add $300 to $500 to your annual electricity expenses when operating continuously. Energy-efficient models reduce this consumption by roughly 15 to 30% compared to standard units. Most contemporary dehumidifiers feature humidity sensors that automatically cycle operation based on current conditions, helping manage energy usage. Proper crawl space encapsulation significantly improves efficiency by creating a controlled environment that requires less dehumidifier runtime, thereby reducing ongoing electricity costs.
