"Carlos with Pacific United Power always answered my calls (there were a lot) and made it an easy transition to getting solar installed onto my home. He went into much more detail than all the other companies I sat with and he ultimately had the best prices and the fewest steps I had to physically be around for."

"While Suncoast Inspections.com is not the lowest cost home inspector,  I got every cent of value out of my home inspection. The home inspected is over 1700 sq ft with attic and crawl space and has a 15 x 30 pool. Chris explained everything he saw taking pictures of all items described in the home inspection report. Essentially, I got a to do list of items that may need maintenance and how long I should expect what is currently installed to last. He was extremely thorough, and provided excellent service. I would recommend him whether you are handy at all or not. You'll go into a home purchase, eyes wide open to what you are getting into. He even provides a list of contractors and other resources in the community. <br />"

"I worked with Martin and Solar Advantage to install a 5KW PV solar electric system at our home. <br /> <br /> We had previously contacted another installer, that basically said that there was too much shading to do anything on our property. <br /> <br /> Martin leveraged his training and prior experience to come up with a layout that included 26 panels on the back and sides of our home.  The best part is that the panels are barely visible from the road. <br /> <br /> The installers were professional, neat and on time/schedule with respect to the installation.  Martin and the rest of the installation team responded quickly to any questions or issues that we had. <br /> <br /> Martin was also very helpful in completing the related rebate paper work. <br /> Overall, the installation is fantastic!  After 2 months of operation, our electric bill is now $15 per month ? the minimum regulator charges.  Our home is basically a zero electric grid home now! <br /> <br /> I highly recommend Martin and his team! <br />"

"They always do a really good job. They have the service contract that I pay a flat fee for about $90 for once a year service. I see them at least once a year. The people in the office are always personable and the people that come out are very knowledgeable. I don't have any problems. I can get it cheaper but I don't think I will get the kind of service that they offer. Every time I talk to someone in the office or if they come out, they are always very courteous and always very willing to talk to me. We replaced a unit last year. We had trouble with it earlier in the year and we have a baby in the home. Every time I had a problem, they were out within an hour or a couple of hours. They were very fast to come out here and fix the problem. When they say they are going to be there in an hour, they are there in an hour. I haven't had any problems."

FAQs for home energy audit projects in Tampa, FL

To prepare for a home energy audit, begin by preparing your space. Clear any obstructions around the attic, basement, ducts, crawl space, appliances, windows, and doors. Gather all your energy bills from the last year and information on home upgrades if you’ve made any changes. If you’ve previously had an audit done, include that information as well.

Finally, be prepared to discuss any questions or concerns you have. If you’ve noticed a rise in your energy bills, hot or cold areas in your home, or unusual sounds from ducts or appliances, make a list to discuss with your auditor.

How often you should get an energy audit depends on the age and condition of your home. New homes with no issues are recommended to get an audit every five years, while older homes should audit every two to three years. If you’ve noticed any changes to your energy bills or other areas of concern, you should get an audit as soon as possible. It’s also a good idea to conduct an audit if you’ve made changes or upgrades to your home, such as installing a new furnace, windows, or doors.

An energy audit takes three to four hours to complete. Your auditor sets up testing equipment, conducts an exhaustive walk‑through inspection, and performs all required evaluations to identify energy loss points. The audit follows a systematic review that includes visual assessments, mechanical tests, and detailed documentation, resulting in a precise report of improvement recommendations.

You can schedule a home energy audit any time of the year—it all depends on what's convenient for you. That said, timing it right can help you tackle issues before they impact your comfort and bills. If you live in a colder climate and want to avoid high heating costs in the winter, getting an audit in the summer allows you to make improvements before the temperature drops. On the contrary, if hot summers are your concern, a spring audit can help you stay cool and save on air conditioning.

To find a qualified home energy auditor, start by searching for local energy auditors with great reviews and recognized certifications like those from the Building Performance Institute (BPI). These credentials ensure they're qualified and can help you qualify for rebates. Don't hesitate to ask about their audit methods and schedule a consultation to see if they're a good fit for your needs. Doing some research upfront helps you get top-notch service and maximize your energy efficiency.

Once you have your energy audit report, it's time to take action. Review the recommendations and prioritize the upgrades that make the most sense for your home and budget. Reach out to experienced pros to get quotes and discuss how they can help. By making these improvements, you'll boost your home's energy efficiency, lower your utility bills, and enjoy a more comfortable living space.
