"We had a 20+ degree temperature difference between the finished basement and the upper level in our recently purchased home.  We had been using modern mechanical for a few years for annual hvac inspections in our previous home but that system never really required much service.  They have always been professional, punctual, and have a problem solving attitude.  We had them come out to provide recommendations and pricing for installing a new zone.  They provided the following three options: manual dampers, electronic zoning board with digital dampers, or install a completely separate system for the upper level.  The second choice is relatively new technology and they highly recommended it because it cost 50% - 75% less than installing a completely separate system and would have the same effect.  They followed up with a written proposal in 24 hours and had the system installed only a week after signing the proposal.  When the crew came to install it they were professional and polite.  The system has now been up and running for several weeks and works perfectly.  We highly recommend this company and the system/technology that they used.

"Contacted Total Comfort as soon as we realized our unit had stopped blowing cold. Unfortunately it was in the evening and after hours (isn't that always the way). Received a call back from an on-call technician within just a few minutes. I explained what was going on and he was more than willing to jump in is truck and head over but was very straight forward and explained that he could diagnose but there was always a possibility he may not have the parts needed that night. I hadn't considered that and was appreciative of his candor. Thunder storm rolling (thankfully) so I knew the temps were going to drop for the evening and told the tech I'd push the service call until the next day. He asked that I contact the office first thing to get on the schedule. Next morning I received a call from Total Comfort before I could call them and they scheduled a tech to come out between 1pm and 4pm that afternoon. A little before 1pm, the tech "Alex R" called to let us know he was on his way. Yes, that's correct. They set a service window between 1pm and 4pm and they actually showed up at the beginning of the quoted service window not and hour or two after it (which seems more the norm for service contractors). Skipping ahead to the most important part... Alex was awesome. Not just punctual but extremely polite, knowledgeable and efficient. He diagnosed the problem, offered the solution, answered our questions, asked for authorization before proceeding and didn't try to up-sell. That's the support a homeowner expects. "After living in our Toll Brothers home for 12 years we were fed up with the poorly functioning heating and air conditioning in our upstairs bedrooms.  We had made several repairs and modifications to the system over the years, but none helped.  We were considering moving because the upstairs bedrooms were so uncomfortable in the summer and winter.  We must have talked to 5 different HVAC contractors.  We asked Climatic for an estimate to repair or replace, if necessary, our upstairs unit.  Sonny Swann came out and gave us an estimate.  He suggested we replace everything in order to make the system and duct work finally work as it should.  We signed off and agreed to all his suggestions.  I told him that this was mission impossible, but he remained convinced that he could make it work.  Well he did it! It took A LOT of work on their part - some of which they did at no charge, but it works great.  I highly recommend Climatic Heating and Cooling.

"Outstanding installation and good pricing for Carrier HVAC (Heat Pump) system replacement. Salesman was prompt and thorough, although he did not provide us any brochures, booklets, etc. Installer was courteous, experienced, knowledgeable, and professional. Took the time to ensure system was thoroughly operational, confirmed electrical requirements and changed breakers accordingly, cleaned up all debris, and explained operation to us. However, since he was new to McCarthy's, he did not have any installation or service stickers or other company material. The sales representative had promised the following to us, included in sales/order form: one year free service, service information and schedule, copy of registration with Carrier. Three months later, we have not received any communication or follow up from McCarthy's -- despite our calling, texting and emailing the sales rep and office. This is our primary concern: the lack of follow up and poor responsiveness."

"I had to go to an out-of-town business meeting, and because the location of the meeting was exotic, my husband opted to accompany me. Unfortunately, shortly before we were scheduled to leave, my husband developed medical issues that left us in some doubt as to whether or not he would accompany me. When he was cleared, the day before my flight, I contacted Boris (based on his ratings on Angie's list) and asked if he could drive us to the airport. Despite the short notice, and despite the fact that we had to leave at 3:15 AM to be sure of arriving in time for our overseas flight, Boris actually arrived early at our house. His vehicle is comfortable and clean, and we appreciated that we didn't have to wait for him to pick up other people, as has been the case for some other services we've used in the past. He provided us with cold water to drink, and was pleasant company for this early morning drive. When we reached National Airport, he offered to drive us back home when we came back 8 days later. Even though our flight arrived shortly after midnight, he was in telephone contact with us within minutes of when our flight landed, and he picked us up shortly after we told him which door we'd be exiting. Again, he drove us between National Airport and our home for $75, and as he had done when he picked us up, he again offered us cold water to drink during our drive. We're very happy with his service and would highly recommend him. I definitely expect that we'll use his services again."
