"Mr. Ferrell first connected his computer to my computer via internet and worked for quite a few hours trying to determine what exactly was wrong. The next day he continued working from his computer for several hours. He determined he would have to have my desktop tower to complete the repair. He and my son met in Huntsville to exchange the tower. He then cleaned up a lot of what was wrong and reloaded Windows 10. He deleted the D: drive which had way too much memory allotted to it. The tower was returned and I plugged it all back together and it is working better than it did when I first purchased it. I would use him again and I recommend him highly to anyone needing computer updating and/or repair. His work is warrantied and he is very personable, knowledgeable, and helpful."

"Called another company originally they asked how old the furnace is and I said about 5 yrs. old (it is 6 yrs old). They informed me that I should get a hold of the company that put it in because it should still be under warranty, which after I looked it was. So I called Service Today to set up an appt. to have them look at it. Andrew came out and with various questions asked I said that the thermostat we have is wifi and that is how we run it. Comcast upgraded the wifi in the neighborhood the day before and it was today I woke up and noticed that the thermostat wifi was not connected to the wifi anymore. He looked into it and noticed that when I put it on heat via by phone app or manually by the wall thermostat, it was turning on the A/C instead and visa versa. He came at a price to me of about $350 to run a diagnostic to find the issue. He did and then he comes back and tells me that the thermostat itself is burn out (I bought the thermostat from them when I had the new furnace installed 6 yrs. ago). Andrew goes to his van and of course comes with only 2 thermostats that he has on hand. One is not wifi and it was $350 or so and the other was $800 which was wifi programmable. He did say we could just go and get one from Best Buy or something but we would have to install it. We decided on the lower cost of the 2. As he was installing it I looked up the retail cost for the same exact one he was putting in (Honeywell T4Pro) and it was $75 at Best Buy. I mean really.........that much of a mark up in cost!!! It is like this company does not understand that we are in a pandemic and that money for so many people is really really tight!! To gouge customers like that. As I sat in my office crying about the cost I let myself get washed into, after a while I asked Andrew why such a big cost increase on the thermostat. He said he has nothing to do with the pricing of items, which I understood. Andrew was a nice guy and just doing his job. I put this gouging at the feet of the company because right now, people have to decide to either pay a heating/electric/etc. bill or pay a company a massive cost to have a thermostat put in. Andrew did take down some wires that were for a humidifier that was on the old furnace prior to installing the new one and also cleaned some dust and lint from the furnace. Will I call these guys again, only if I know that there is something wrong with the furnace that is under warranty still, other then that, I cannot afford them. They were better when they were Airtech. The C rating I gave it has more to do with how nice Andrew was then the company. For the company itself, I give it an F"

"We were unaware of an extra-large build-up of lint in our dryer.  The lint eventually caught fire and we had a small fire inside our dryer.  Fortunately, the fire did not spread and nothing was damaged except for the dryer.  We called SOS to see if the dryer could be repaired -- we were thinking it would need to be replaced.  The technician came out, inspected the dryer and told us it could definitely be salvaged.  We were thrilled.  He worked on the dryer immediately, but had to schedule the vent cleaning a few days later.  However, we were not charged until the vent cleaning was completed.  SOS provided me with one of the best experiences I have had with a repair company.  I was thrilled with the end result!"

"It is always so nice to come home to a clean house after a long day at work.  Especially when I didn't have to clean it.  I like that I can communicate with them via text or email.  My dogs really like them.  When I get home they always leave a card behind.  They are friendly and helpful.  I was nervous about hiring someone because we are not clean or neat people.  So I sucked it up and got over the embarrassment and I'm so glad I did.  They put me at ease from the first appointment.

"It went great! Very knowledgeable and provided me with great options for replacing my 17 yr old AC, 40yr old furnace and old water heater. We chose to install a tankless water heater and love it! They have stood behind there work and were quickly available when an inspector had some questions."

"I am providing an update to this review. I received a call from companies owner and was patient to hear what I have to say. Explained in details in their billing practice and apologized for scheduling discrepancies. He also refunded $200. That was a grand gesture made to correct previous overcharge and I appreciated that very much. I thought I should take time and provide this feed back and revert my review for excellent responsiveness and work. My experience with Hoffman Cooling & Heating was a disaster from start to end. I called them on Friday morning, I received a call back at noon scheduling me for Saturday with $89 initial visitation price. I waited Saturday till 2:30 and called them to see why no one showed up. I was told there is nothing on their schedule but they can set one up but it be $129 cause its Saturday. I somehow convinced them about how I scheduled it previous day and quoted price of $89. Thankfully they obliged to send a repair person for that agreed price. He (Joe) showed up and replaced a Capacitor. I asked how much that Capacitor costs, I was told it is $316. He sepnt about 15 minutes and charged me a total of $405.83 ($316.83 for part and $89 for service). After he left I Googled the replaced part GE 97F9833, it was available on Amazon for $19. I promptly called them and asked why I was charged $316.83? Especially conning me thats how expensive that part is and it is hard to get it from factory and such. I understand someone charging me for part & labor. If they told me part is $50 and we charge labor $1000 per hour I would have hired someone else. So simply put, if you want a honest business that charges you a fair price go somewhere else. I definitely not giving my business to these greedy people."

"The guys that work for Cady Handyman were on time and showed up when they said they would. They installed a custom made shower for us that turned out beautiful. We needed it finished before the closing on our house, and they did everything including staying late in order to get it finished."

FAQs for swamp cooler installation and replacement projects in Waite Park, MN

Swamp coolers are quite energy-efficient, using only 15% to 35% of the electricity that traditional central air conditioning units consume. This can lead to significant savings on your energy bills. However, keep in mind that swamp coolers require water to operate and may not cool your home as effectively in extremely hot or humid conditions. When considering overall efficiency, it is essential to weigh both electricity and water usage, as well as the cooling needs specific to your local climate.

Evaporative coolers only work in dry climates because they cool by moistening the air. If the air is already moist, this will have little to no cooling effect. Central AC is a better choice if you live in a humid climate, such as the Midwest, eastern, or western coastal regions.

To install a swamp cooler on a roof, a local HVAC specialist will first find and cut a spot free of wiring and obstructions. They’ll then install metal bracing, legs, brackets, the ceiling duct register, ductwork, power, and thermostat wires. Once installed, they’ll seal all openings, attach duct connections, and install a thermostat. Before leaving, they’ll run cool water piping to the unit and inspect all the connections.

The cost to repair your swamp cooler ranges from $50 to $600, depending on the issue, whether new parts are needed, and the chosen repair service. Depending on the type of pad your system uses, you will need to change out the pads every one to three years for proper operation. When budgeting for the cost to repair a window unit, expect to pay around $230.

The U.S. Department of Energy states that swamp coolers can cool a single room by five to 15 degrees Fahrenheit. However, this largely depends on the size and installation method of the evaporative cooler. You can only achieve these results in a dry climate, such as the American South, as it’s easier to cool rooms in humid environments with central air.

Swamp cooler water usage varies depending on the size of the unit. Smaller evaporative units may use one gallon per hour, while much larger units could use up to 15 gallons of water per hour. Most homeowners can expect their unit to use between seven and 10 gallons of water per hour of usage.
