"We were having a problem with ground water getting in under the slab that our house sits on. They installed drainage pipes and dug a gravel pit for the water to go into. They also installed a sump pump at the low spot in our garage."

"Our downstairs bedroom and bathroom were freezing cold. A BSI insulation engineer came in to size up the problem and provide a solution. They insulated the basement and crawl space of our 1893 Plantation home and now our said rooms are warm and inviting. We are so grateful to them and will save a ton of money in heating costs in the years to come. So happy and so grateful. What a great company."

"This is the third time that we have used Hope Plumbing. The schedulers and the technicians have all been very nice people. However, I do not plan on using them again for the following reasons: - The first service call was to install a new faucet in a bath. The technician chipped the countertop during the installation. Yes they did make an attempt to repair it, but the repaired area is very obvious. - The second service call was to install an outside faucet. They had to cut a hole in the basement ceiling to do the installation, which was fine. However, the technician splatter flux all over the basement wall and made no attempt to clean up until we called to complain. - The latest service call was to install a new sump. The technician did not reconnect the discharge line from the water softener when he finished the sump pump installation so we had a wet basement floor the next morning. When I called them to ask them to come back to fix the problem, I asked that they also install another check valve on the back-up sump. I called on Monday to make the appointment for first call on Friday. I received a call around 9:30 on Friday saying that they would not arrive until afternoon because of problems they had on Thursday. Since I had to take time off from work to coordinate the repair it would have been nice if they would have notified us on Thursday when they knew they would not be able to keep the appointment. The last straw was when the technician arrived without any supplies and had to go pick up a check valve even though I had specifically noted that was going to be needed."

"We were pleased with the customer service, skill set and careful attention provided by Indiana Foundation during last week's waterproofing work on our basement. Josh Solomon and Noah Salisbury were diligent in their attention to our questions and concerns, going the extra mile to ensure a quality installation that met our needs. Our basement is already drier and we hope to build it out for a play/rec room soon."

"Crossroads was very professional from the office, the project manager, to the laborers. They were timely, clean, and accomodating. I did not like the outside electrician they contracted to install a new outlet, so hire your own. Other than that, I recommend them."

"It was expensive but it may not have been more expensive than another sewer system. They showed up and gave me an estimate and did the work. There was a problem after it was installed. They came out and fixed it so it was good."

"We hired Brian to waterproof our basement last year but this year, we received a heavy rainstorm that created massive flooding around the area. Everything Brian waterproofed was bone dry but there was an exit door entry way that we never even considered waterproofing. The door held back most of the water but it managed to get in through the cracks of the door.

I contacted multiple companies that night and the next morning, but Brian was the only one who responded back first thing in the morning. He agreed to meet us at our house to assess the problem, and we appreciated that he arrived quickly. After evaluating multiple options, Brian told us that we needed a sump pump and drain tile installed to permanently fix this problem. He initially scheduled us for the next Monday, but after understanding our urgency, he bumped us up to the next day. The workers arrived when he said they would, and the work was completed the same day in the afternoon. Thank you to Brian and his company for being so accommodating, being there when we needed him, and completing the work promptly.

*~update~*
After some heavy rains, we noticed that we were still getting some seepage in our "waterproofed" basement. After contacting Brian (for our lifetime warranty or whatever), he said he would come out. He then proceeded to cancel/make an excuse the next 3-4 appointments. Then he just stopped responding to emails/calls. We're very disappointed because we really liked Brian. Now we have to open the walls to see where the seepage is coming in and call someone else to seal them."

"Denny's did a great job with attention to detail.  They installed a perimeter drain, removed insulation, drilled holes in block for drainage, installed and plumbed the sump pump, and trenched a drain out to the back yard.   Workers were very pleasant to deal with and Mike made sure everything was right including a return visit.  They did a good job of picking up debris and left the house/space in better condition than before they arrived.  The thorough job was greatly appreciated."

"The work is impeccable! I had my basement waterproofed about 6 months ago. We had one of the rainiest seasons I have ever seen in my 20 years living in Indiana. I have not had a DROP of water enter my basement, even on the heaviest rains since we had Advanced do our basement waterproofing. Marty is very knowledgeable. The quote given was the price we paid! The crew did an excellent job and left our basement better than they found it. It took a couple of days, but the work was done right and the workers were professional. Mike (the owner) is very responsive and accommodating. Prices are fair and the work speaks for itself! Do not hesitate. We are hoping to work with them again on some more foundation repairs!!"

"Prior to choosing ABS, I received several quotes and made my final decision based ABS being family owned and operated. When I received my quote from Aaron, he inspected my crawl space and outside my home. He took several reading of the moisture throughout the wood. Aaron spent several hours going over all the issues he found. Time was not an issue for Aaron, as he explained the situation to us, he answered all our questions (sometimes twice) and was very polite. Now onto the days of installation, day one, Joe their lead engineer and crew arrived onsite. Joe was polite and knowledge of the job he was there to perform. He stayed in constant contact with me. Walked me through the process they were doing each day. They spent 5 days due to the size of the job. On day 4 is where they had issues, some larger jobs tends to have unexpected complications. The complications are where you will know if you hired a good company or not. As I stated Joe’s continuous communication with me helped me understand their issues and the company’s solutions. They had to call in more support and because this is a family owned company even the owner showed up. They took the time to explain to me what was happening and what they did to fix the issues. They did not charge me the additional material or time. They went above and beyond what most companies would have done. Now I have a solid and dry crawl space and that is all thanks to American Basement Solutions. I had a positive experience and would recommend this company to anyone. **Side note, Joe you where AWESOME! Thank you and Thank you to American Basement Solutions."

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Waynetown, IN

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
