"We needed to replace our old HVAC system, and the entire process was smooth and stress-free. The crew was knowledgeable and gave us several options that fit our budget. The installation was clean, quick, and professionally done. Our home feels more comfortable than ever, and our energy bill is already lower. Five stars!"

"I previously had work done by EZ Energy last year (solar panels) the job they did was great so i decided to go back with them when doing my garage addition. The owner mike remembered me when i spoke to him about another quote he had his best rep come out to give me another estimate and all i can say is the work again did not disappoint me. my garage is looking great and both my cars fit perfectly with all my tools so i can do a little work in there as well! highly recommended for garage and solar installs!"

"Building Doctors did an energy audit of our 1940s house, reducted, reinsulated and installed an entirely new HVAC system--two actually--for our 5000 s.f. property. I can't recommend them highly enough. The house is strange, with big gaps in the roof that needed to be insulated, an unconventional layout, and some unpleasant surprises (a dead rat in the uptake vent; 60 years worth of rat feces raining down on the workers). The most important thing to know about Dan Thomsen is that he is very smart, committed to doing what makes the most sense logically, financially, and environmentally, and governed by integrity. We spent more than we would have with another contractor, who recommended that we only reduct the top floor "because the bottom floor is a big pain" and I know that in the long run we will have saved not just money but regret for not having taken the right path from the start. That said, Dan also knew where we could save money, and COMPLETELY HANDLED the energy rebate from the government. Who does that?! (Check came directly to us, but he did *all* paperwork and the city inspector who came to evaluate the job told me that Building Doctors' work always gets approved, which he said was not true for most of the jobs he inspected. A rare, excellent, responsible contractor. You won't be disappointed."

"Dav is clearly an EXPERT in what he does. He imparted a TON of valuable information and knowledge to my husband and I both DURING our Home Energy Audit, as well as in the report which we opted to have him do. This information is going to be a superb guide as we prioritize & move forward with home improvement projects that will increase our home's efficiency, conserve energy, etc."

"I got two bids, one from my former supplier and one from All Four Seasons. Ethan's recommendations were gently offered but was totally willing to work within the limits of my budget. He listened to my needs and we were able to settle on a working plan we both could live with. He also offered to begin installation within 24 hours although I wasn't available for 48. When the work began, his excellent, professional crew got the heat going by 5p on the first day and finished the AC by noon the following day. They were polite, hard working and cleaned up all the construction debris. They also were open to my suggestions about placement of the outside unit. My former supplier, who installed the prior unit and with whom I've had a 28 year maintenance relationship came in at a higher price and wouldn't have been able to start for another week. Ethan and his employees worked very hard to return my home to normalcy. Without any heat the interior reached overnight lows around 46° for the six days it was out."

"It was okay; it was nothing more than I expected. It was so cheap that I thought I'd give it a try and maybe we could get some insight into ways to make our house more energy efficient, it's already pretty efficient, and the option that they offered was just cost prohibitive. So honestly, I thought that it was more of an opportunity to get a qualified lead to sell their service to. But we did get some artefacts, and for the money I suppose that was worth it."

"I've been thinking of installing solar for quite sometime on our home and after numerous companies giving me quotes, I decided to go with Tesla. I thought that Tesla was the elite of solar based on their ads and promotions. After going through all but installing the solar panels, Tesla informed me that our roof needed work and that it would cost $9000 to repair the roof so that they can install solar panels. I was disappointed until I heard of Sun Lux over the radio being a roofer also. This was to test if I really needed a new roof. Sun Lux gave me a higher production of energy than Tesla and said I didn't need a new roof! They had several options on financing and leasing that made sense. I pulled the trigger and had them install solar. They assign you a Project coordinator that communicates with you throughout the process and Emma (my project coordinator) gave me the white glove treatment. She was always available. She took care of everything. What more can I ask for? I highly recommend Sun Lux even though I own a Tesla."

"<p>Initially I spoke with Jeff who later came out and worked on the monitoring system.</p> <p>My consult was with a young man named Chris who was very knowledgeable and best of all did not give off the "salesman" vibe.  Some of the other companies sell Solar like the aluminum siding salespeople in the movie Tin Men.  The more I spoke with Chris the more trust I had with Mimeos and the more I found myself hoping that the pricing and product was going to be fair and solid.</p> <p>I had gotten answers to my many questions about Solar from other bidders who had come out, but when I asked the same questions of Chris he usually gave me simpler, better answers to those same questions.</p> <p>The company does more than solar and hires independents to do the work.  They do have all the necessary licensing--I would check this online for any installer I plan to hire.</p> <p>One of the most important elements in my buying decision was to make sure that I generated enough energy to cover my entire bill for the year.  When I brought up the fact that my last years energy usage might be low compared to previous years with other companies it was mostly ignored.  Chris took time to look at my spreadsheet (with my previous energy totals and bills) and discuss what would work best for me.</p> <p>All the people who worked on the job I got to know on a first name basis--not because they were there too long--just because they were all professional and friendly.</p> <p>Keeping the work area clean everyday is important and they were extremely thoughtful in this regard.  I was told ahead of time when workers were coming and everyone working on the project went out of the way to make sure my neighbors weren't disturbed.</p> <p>All the hardware went in easily and the only issue I had was with accessing the monitoring software.  I switched from a static IP to a dynamic (the system was originally set up with a static IP and was working), so there needed to be some changes to get it working.  The system was still generating energy fine, but I wasn't able to view it.  Mimeos kept following up until the system was operational and functioning normally.  Other companies might disappear after final payment is received, but not Mimeos.</p> <p>I would frequently get emails from Kaliza during the process about inspections, rebates and general updates on the entire process.  Whenever I would get an email from her I sometimes thought she was even more excited about my solar project than me--just a very pleasant vibe.</p> <p>On occasion I spoke with Matt, the owner, about certain concerns I had and he was very accommodating and took care of me as well.  </p> <p>When I almost made the decision to hire another company I spoke to Chris and explained the situation and he worked with me on the system to get the bids closer in price.  I consciously made the decision to pay a little more knowing that I wouldn't have to worry about the end result or have aggravation during the process (and I'm sure glad I did)! </p>  I highly recommend Mimeos! <br />"

FAQs for home energy audit projects in Westlake Village, CA

To prepare for a home energy audit, begin by preparing your space. Clear any obstructions around the attic, basement, ducts, crawl space, appliances, windows, and doors. Gather all your energy bills from the last year and information on home upgrades if you’ve made any changes. If you’ve previously had an audit done, include that information as well.

Finally, be prepared to discuss any questions or concerns you have. If you’ve noticed a rise in your energy bills, hot or cold areas in your home, or unusual sounds from ducts or appliances, make a list to discuss with your auditor.

How often you should get an energy audit depends on the age and condition of your home. New homes with no issues are recommended to get an audit every five years, while older homes should audit every two to three years. If you’ve noticed any changes to your energy bills or other areas of concern, you should get an audit as soon as possible. It’s also a good idea to conduct an audit if you’ve made changes or upgrades to your home, such as installing a new furnace, windows, or doors.

An energy audit takes three to four hours to complete. Your auditor sets up testing equipment, conducts an exhaustive walk‑through inspection, and performs all required evaluations to identify energy loss points. The audit follows a systematic review that includes visual assessments, mechanical tests, and detailed documentation, resulting in a precise report of improvement recommendations.

You can schedule a home energy audit any time of the year—it all depends on what's convenient for you. That said, timing it right can help you tackle issues before they impact your comfort and bills. If you live in a colder climate and want to avoid high heating costs in the winter, getting an audit in the summer allows you to make improvements before the temperature drops. On the contrary, if hot summers are your concern, a spring audit can help you stay cool and save on air conditioning.

To find a qualified home energy auditor, start by searching for local energy auditors with great reviews and recognized certifications like those from the Building Performance Institute (BPI). These credentials ensure they're qualified and can help you qualify for rebates. Don't hesitate to ask about their audit methods and schedule a consultation to see if they're a good fit for your needs. Doing some research upfront helps you get top-notch service and maximize your energy efficiency.

Once you have your energy audit report, it's time to take action. Review the recommendations and prioritize the upgrades that make the most sense for your home and budget. Reach out to experienced pros to get quotes and discuss how they can help. By making these improvements, you'll boost your home's energy efficiency, lower your utility bills, and enjoy a more comfortable living space.
