"Our hot water heater began leaking from inside of the unit.  The existing unit was very old and needed to be replaced.  After researching Angie's List, I made a purchase for a replacement hot water heater with Henson Mechanical HVAC and Plumbing.  Henson Mechanical reached out to me later that day to schedule my replacement, and to verify information about my existing setup.  They were able to send an installer out the very next day.
Prior to his visit, Kurt Schmeisser called to inform me that he would be the person to install the new water heater.  Kurt was prompt, and extremely professional.  During the removal of the old unit, and the installation of the new unit, Kurt made sure not to damage anything in my house.  He made sure to put down plastic over runs of carpet in my basement to ensure that it was not soiled.
Since it is now code, Kurt installed an expansion water tank.  This was included in the initial purchase price of the unit, and was not an unexpected and added expense.
Before he departed, Kurt showed me how to manipulate the temperature of the tank.  He then demonstrated how to ignite the pilot light if there was ever a need.
Through the entire process, Kurt was very polite and professional.  I would consider using Henson Mechanical HVAC and Plumbing for future projects.

"The service workers were experienced; however, during the service they did not clean the removed vents. When I asked why they were not cleaning the vents they noted that the truck they used that day did not have cleaner. Since part of the service is cleaning the vents after removal, I asked if he needed to go back and get the cleaner. He noted that most customers clean their own vents or get new ones. I ended up cleaning the vents myself. Another issue which occurred was after completion of the duct cleaning my beds and floors had alot of dust from the vents.  My understanding was that this company was very careful to ensure they covered the areas  below the vents to help catch the dust from the vents.  I suggest if you use this company to confirm what they will clean and not clean."

"I used the $79 for two ceiling fans installed deal. I was charged an additional $20 per fan because both fans had remote controls. Many newer fans have remote controls, so the deal is actually $119 for two ceiling fans installed. The remotes did not require any additional effort. I might or might not use the service again."

The technicians seemed to know their way around my Trane unit. Neither the techs nor owner tried to upsell me repairs or products I didn't need."

"Booby came out and gave an estimate. We worked out to put plywood instead of plastic over the insulation under the sunroom because it is an area exposed more to the weather. We negotiated a good price.  A few days later, as scheduled, the crew arrived and got to work removing all the old plastic and insulation. They wiped down all the wood in the crawlspace with mold remover chemicals then fumigated the area. Next day they began putting in the new insulation and plastic. Before they could do this though they pumped out water that was puddled up. They found a dripping leak and tightened up that to stop the leak from a icemaker water line. This crew did an excellent job. The crawlspace lived up to its name- there is only about two feet between the bottom of the house and the dirt. The plastic they put in goes up the side of the walls and pilings. The most important thing is that we called twice after noticing 1) some mildew that was not wiped off in one small area and 2) some plywood that was sagging as though the nails had not quite caught the first time. Both times we called there were workers out within a day or two as scheduled, as promised. We are very pleased with the job:)"

"AHS is ok. They cover repairs of most everything under the roof of your house. The companies that contract with them are not always the best. You call AHS with the issue, they send a fax to the repair company and give you the contact info. If they don't contact you within 24 hours, you call them. Sometimes they answer, sometimes they don't. When they arrive (usually three days or so later), they service the item. if it has issues within the 90 days, you call AHS again, they are sent out with no charge. If the serviceman decides the unit is unrepairable, AHS will allow you to choose a replacement from their listing (usually not as good as what you have) they will install and remove your old item, or give you wholesale amount to buy and install your own. Prices vary on what you want covered and what you want the copay to be, plus where you live. For me it is 49.99 per month with a 75.00 time of service order. You can have more than one item serviced at the same time under the same fee. If you have a SEAR product the repair guys are great. Not that wild about the other ones they send out. But it is a big savings compared to calling someone on your own. The cost of service is only the 75.00 copay."
