I hired G and B Carpentry to build a detached garage with an apartment above. I paid them everything per our agreement plus an approved Change Order. The agreement was executed on February 18, 2021 with an estimated completion date of 4-5 months. They missed three completion dates, told multiple lies as to the reason why, one of their subcontractors caused over $2,900.00 worth of damage to my existing home. In December, they wanted me to pay over $29K in what they classified as Overages occurred while working on my project without once having a discussion with me, presenting me with any Change Orders or invoices. This is after I have paid them everything per our contract!!! They filed bankruptcy around January 3, 2022. They indicated that it would not affect my project but they have not been back to finish it in over 2 months!!! I found out that they used another construction company to obtain my Building Permit and neither company informed me that I was not approved to have an apartment on top of the garage!!!! They have ABANDONED my project and left me to figure everything out! He stated on March 2, 2022 Hello Greg, As I mentioned before I am broke and pretty much out of business. If there is anything I can do to help you wrap up your project that does not require funds I am there to assist. Sorry for the inconvenience EVERYTHING that needs completed REQUIRES MONEY!!! Money that I already gave him!!!! If you are an existing customer, cut your losses and hire an attorney!!!

    Response from Company:

When customers refuse to pay for phases of work completed, as a company we are within our rights to freeze production. Instead of paying unfortunately some customers result to defaming the company. Our ratings prove our quality of work. We have over 300 "A+" ratings. G and B Carpentry took $15,000 deposit and never did any work, they asked for more money. three weeks after the contract was signed they filed for bankruptcy, they claim to have spent the money on materials but will not show me any invoices or give me the materials and now they no longer respond to any communication.

G&B did an excellent job of installation, finish and cleanup. They even spread out the dirt that was removed around our maple tree to cover the root system that had come above ground. They went above and beyond what was contracted for. They put grass seed and straw down over the fresh dirt. These folks alway go above and beyond. They have done several other jobs for us and they are our first call when we have new projects come up.

Plans were drafted by us and quote was given on the draft. Additional cost added to bill when project was in final completion that was not on the original plans. We paid the additional cost.

G&B Carpentry is the best! I use them for all my improvements, remodels, and repairs. They are prompt and professional, yet extremely friendly and caring. They communicate their progress throughout each project and seek your input. Their work is exceptional and exceeds my expectations everytime. They have finished a basement, made various repairs, and installed a new driveway for me. I highly recommend them!

Left our home a collapse hazard!!! Beware!!! Save yourself the hassle and keep looking for another contractor! Told us 3-4 wks for a project that they never completed. I filed a complaint with the TN State Contractors Board and they placed a lien on my home the day they got word of my complaint. The work they did was poor and they refused to correct issues and dismissed our complaints. They used an unlicensed plumber and we ended up with sewage in our crawlspace for 4 weeks before they even fixed the pipe that came loose!!!!!! They made promises they never kept and charged us more for things we had already paid for after we removed add-on items that were never completed. They would not be transparent and show us receipts on said additional charges. They do not handle their business well. RUN!! Like another review said, we will have to have most of our project redone. Do not waste your $$$! **I did not buy my home online. This is just another excuse this company is using to avoid taking accountability for their mistakes (as well as saying I canceled by email, did not pay my progression draws, etc.). I do not have misguided frustration-It all belongs to you. I did not pay my final payment because you never finished the job and I am having to re-do your work. Despite what you think you do not have lien rights on this project. TCA 62-6-103 A contractor exceeding their limit ($25,000) does not have the right to file a lien. That **beautiful** bathroom has a toilet that will not flush because it is not vented properly. You left our secondary bathroom without a working shower. There are several other MAJOR issues that we are having to pay to have corrected because of your neglect.

    Response from Company:

Unfortunately this customer purchased a home online site unseen. Her misdirected frustration was due to our company placing a lien on the property for non payment. The work turned out beautiful! Please see posted pictures. Please call us for your free quote! We have hundreds of pleased customers. Over 300 A+ ratings from customer with Angies List and Home Advisors.
