He even met with us after installation to explain the almost incomprehensible PG&E bill. Although not the least expensive bid, his was competitive and I felt he was as interested in educating me about solar and the various types of panels and inverter systems as he was in selling a system. He demonstrated how the array of panels would meet our energy needs and as opposed to some of the other companies, wasn't selling us more than we needed. My installation was up and running with all approvals 3 weeks before his system was allowed to be turned on. "After getting bids from several other companies, I went with Independent Energy Solutions because they were by far the most professional company. Chris took the time to educate me on solar energy as well as to provide the most sensible design to give me the greatest amount of solar energy production for the available space and layout of my roof. Joseph, the crew foreman, was a delight to work with, and he was very responsive when problems came up. They thought of all the little details to make the installation aesthetically pleasing, like running the cable down along the back of the rain spout to hide it from view and painting it to match the stucco so that it virtually disappeared. Throughout the entire installation process, they went the extra mile, and they treated me as if I were a VIP.
Were there problems during the installation? Yes. The City Building Department lost my application, and then both their inspector and the inspector from SDG&E were annoyingly nitpicky. But IES handled all these problems with grace and elan.
Having my own solar panel system has caused me to look around the neighborhood to see what other solar installation contractors have done and there's all the difference in the world between what they've got and what I've got. "We purchased the home energy audit with the understanding that we would be receiving a more extensive analysis of our home energy usage along with possible solutions. Ultimately, the process was more about a presentation for solar panels that anything else, which was not what we were looking for when we purchased the offer. Richard was very professional and thorough in his presentation and presented options regarding areas to save in terms of energy usage but those areas were not as thoroughly explored as the solar discussion. Green Source Energy should be more direct about what the Home Energy Audit entails so buyers can make an informed decision."

"Jim is amazing. We needed new windows for the bedrooms - the old ones were original from 1949 and no longer closed! Jim came over and helped walk me through the options. He also did a quick assessment of other areas where we might be losing energy efficiency and offered multiple solutions (some of which he suggested I could even do myself). The new windows are beautiful and keep the cold air out!! When I'm ready to order more for the other areas of the house and to insulate our walls, I will be sure to call Jim.
