"Dan did a great job of going through everything very thoroughly with me and pointing out a plan of remedy for the aspects of my home that seemed most significant to least significant. I would recommend him in the future for anyone looking to get an understanding of their home energy performance."

"I called Perma-Seal for a Foundation Crack in my home. James came out to evaluate the problem, he called ahead to let me know he was on his way, arrived on time and even came with his own clogs to enter my home. I must say James performed a very comprehensive analysis of the problem, he spent nearly an hour and a half mapping out my basement and inspecting the exterior of the house even in a slight drizzle. He reached out to his colleagues for input and when done explained the problem and solutions professionally and with video presentations of the process. Jame’s professionalism and attention to detail was impressive along with being very courteous and respectful of my property."

"Excellent. Fast, courteous, showed up on time, did a thorough walkthrough of the space, identified the problem and documented with pictures so I could see the issue. As it turns out the problem is external to the HVAC and will need another contractor, but Tom was clear about my options and recommended an insulation approach that would result in less work for him but less expense for me. We discussed backup plans and pricing and I am very confident that if I need a full vent replacement (last resort) that I will call this firm to do it. Expert, honest, friendly, and fairly priced. Hire these guys."

"Jason from Integrity came out and was extremely professional. He measured all the rooms in the house to make sure he quoted the proper size, as the old furnace was way over-sized. We actually felt bad not using Integrity because we were so impressed with Jason. However, at this particular time, we got a substantially better price elsewhere. We would definitely consider using them in the future."

"The inspector arrived pretty much on time. He spent about 30 minutes or so in the crawlspace looking around.
Upon the completion of his inspection, he made recommendations and showed me pictures of what he found. He provided a  weather station that indicates internal and external temperatures. I did not know I had moisture in my home particularly in the crawlspace.
In addition, his office sent me a written list of the recommendations.  I would like to use their service to have my crawlspace
sealed in the very near future.

"Overall the company is very good. They did a thorough job. They showed me where the house needed some additional insulation so we actually purchase additional insulation. I felt that they did a good job of doing the job overall and I didn't have any problems at all. There were a couple of scheduling snap through that due to some of their issues and it as a little aggravating because I had to set up time that would be available for them and everything and they weren't quite on time because of that. They could have been communicated a little bit better."

FAQs for home energy audit projects in Bensenville, IL

To prepare for a home energy audit, begin by preparing your space. Clear any obstructions around the attic, basement, ducts, crawl space, appliances, windows, and doors. Gather all your energy bills from the last year and information on home upgrades if you’ve made any changes. If you’ve previously had an audit done, include that information as well.

Finally, be prepared to discuss any questions or concerns you have. If you’ve noticed a rise in your energy bills, hot or cold areas in your home, or unusual sounds from ducts or appliances, make a list to discuss with your auditor.

How often you should get an energy audit depends on the age and condition of your home. New homes with no issues are recommended to get an audit every five years, while older homes should audit every two to three years. If you’ve noticed any changes to your energy bills or other areas of concern, you should get an audit as soon as possible. It’s also a good idea to conduct an audit if you’ve made changes or upgrades to your home, such as installing a new furnace, windows, or doors.

An energy audit takes three to four hours to complete. Your auditor sets up testing equipment, conducts an exhaustive walk‑through inspection, and performs all required evaluations to identify energy loss points. The audit follows a systematic review that includes visual assessments, mechanical tests, and detailed documentation, resulting in a precise report of improvement recommendations.

You can schedule a home energy audit any time of the year—it all depends on what's convenient for you. That said, timing it right can help you tackle issues before they impact your comfort and bills. If you live in a colder climate and want to avoid high heating costs in the winter, getting an audit in the summer allows you to make improvements before the temperature drops. On the contrary, if hot summers are your concern, a spring audit can help you stay cool and save on air conditioning.

To find a qualified home energy auditor, start by searching for local energy auditors with great reviews and recognized certifications like those from the Building Performance Institute (BPI). These credentials ensure they're qualified and can help you qualify for rebates. Don't hesitate to ask about their audit methods and schedule a consultation to see if they're a good fit for your needs. Doing some research upfront helps you get top-notch service and maximize your energy efficiency.

Once you have your energy audit report, it's time to take action. Review the recommendations and prioritize the upgrades that make the most sense for your home and budget. Reach out to experienced pros to get quotes and discuss how they can help. By making these improvements, you'll boost your home's energy efficiency, lower your utility bills, and enjoy a more comfortable living space.
