"I have used this company for several different things. This time it was to replace some duct work in my house. Originally they were supposed to replace the chimney liner but when they got inside they realized a bird nest was just causing condensation to run on the outside of my pipe and my liner was actually good. They answered all of my questions and took care of the chimney so that the bird could no longer make a nest. They closed off some of the air gaps in my basement as well. They are always on time and very professional. The woman that does the scheduling is very kind and has great follow through. They always call when they will be late or early. I use them for all of my furnace and air conditioning cleaning as well.

"Sooo....first, Jim is a very nice guy.  However, Jim now works in Nashville during the week and is only home to the Huntsville area on the weekends.
My first impression of him was that he was awesome.  My computer system had crashed because I pulled the plug during a thunder storm before the computer fully shut down which resulted in the computer hanging up.  Jim took my call while in Tennessee and suggested how to fix the system.  For this I am very grateful.

What happened next was I had him come and check my computer to make sure everything was working properly.  He came to my house and spent an hour tweaking it (basically running various checks on the system), for which I paid him $50.  He suggested that my laptop would work much better if I had Windows 7 and increased my RAM up to 4 GB.  He said he could install it for me for (including the RAM) for about $160.  We met the following weekend for the handoff and he loaded Window 7.  When I received the call it was ready, the bill was $227.50.  I was surprised that is was $70 more than quoted, but paid it anyways.  When I asked about the RAM, he mentioned he did not upgrade the RAM and this would be another $60.  I was a little discouraged at that point since I felt like I was being taken advantage of, but the guy is relatively nice, so I said to go ahead and order the RAM.  He did so and the following weekend was supposed to install it.  Due to some personal things in his life, he wasn't able to install it, so I picked it up since I had to go out of town and could use the IT guy at my new location to install it for me.  When we went to install the RAM, the system wouldn't let us do it since my particular type of laptop can only take 2GB of RAM max.  If Jim had gone to the crucial.com website (where he bought my RAM) and entered my computer system on it, it would have told him the max amount of RAM that could be installed on that unit.  He did not do that.  He is supposed to refund my $60 this next weekend.

I think if Jim wasn't burning the candle at both ends by having a job in Tennessee during the week and trying to run this business on the weekends, it would've been a better experience.  Perhaps taking a few extra minutes to SLOW DOWN and write out an estimate of everything he would need for the job including the prices would ensure people know up front how much the repair would/should cost so they can budget accordingly.  I think if he had taken that approach, it might've been a better experience.  So now I am stuck with a laptop that runs slower because Windows 7 uses more memory and a laptop that can't be upgraded to more RAM.  Basically, the last step which cost me almost $300 was not necessary.  If you need something simple done like coming back from a system crash, he would be okay to use.  Otherwise, for the bigger jobs, I recommend he provide a written estimate with the items he plans to do.

UPDATE:  After posting this review, I received a number of text messages from Jim commenting on the bad review.  I understand he is upset, but harassing someone about a review is not a good way to go.  My review was honest and not meant to be mean, but to let those that use Angie's list get what they pay for...an honest review of someone's experience."

"I called the office of Gnoth and Naragon, and they have a wonderful scheduler/office manager named John. He promptly set up an appointment for Bob Gnoth to come out and give me an estimate for a new, 95% efficient furnace to replace the existing old furnace. The house had never had central A/C, and I got a quote for that, as well. Quote was hand delivered on my doorstep within a couple of days, and was much more reasonable (about $3,000 less!!) than another quote I had gotten with another company. I decided to go with Gnoth and Naragon, and an install date was quickly scheduled. It took two days (very reasonable amount of time, due to the install of brand new central A/C system in a home without existing A/C.) I was not at home either day, but everything seemed to go well, except a small issue the installers had with trying to fit everything back into my very small furnace room (house was built in 1958, and its on a slab.) Installers left a note that they weren't able to hook the water softener back up and I may have to consider moving it elsewhere. Obviously, I wasn't too happy about this, and left a message with Bob Gnoth, who immediately returned my phone call. He came out the next day, took a look at the situation, easily figured out a way to fit the softener back in, with a little maneuvering, and running some new pipework, and sent his guys back out the very next day to re-hook it back up. Problem resolved! A couple weeks later, heard a strange noise coming from furnace, called the office, and Bob came out himself. He recalibrated a switch, and all is well. I'm having some remodeling done, with very messy sheet rock dust everywhere. I had just changed the furnace filter a month prior, but Bob also noticed how plugged up the filter was. He replaced the filter for me without even asking or charging me (I wasn't home) - how wonderful!!!! Who does that? Usually someone would just tell you, "hey, by the way, you need to replace your furnace filter." He did remind me while remodeling, it's important to change the filter every two weeks. Very quiet furnace. Central A/C was heaven for the few short weeks I used it (installed in September.) Looking forward to a winter with a much quieter, 95% efficient furnace (my speakers on my television and my bank account will thank me!!) and a hot summer next year with heavenly central A/C. Great company, good references, responsible, professional, dependable owner and workers. You won't be dissapointed!"

"New installation went well. I was a little upset that only 50% was covered being that the unit was 19 years old. I'm sure that parts for something that old would be hard to find. Replacement was recommended."

"We've got American Home Shield. So that kinda varies but united air temp has done some work for us. Probably a couple years ago, I think so. I think its two years ago. They did work on our air conditioning. Well you know with American Home Shield you only pay $75.00. You sign up for a year , its like something you subscribe to.  You call and contact American Home Shield and they have somebody contact you whose in line with their services and agrees to work with them. You pay $75.00 and if its not done correctly for each visit but if they come back twice you don't pay again. Its like 400 and something a year. Its fabulous, its fabulous. If you need plumbing , H VAC, lighting, its amazing. Its worth every dime. And if they can't fix it they replace it at no charge unless you want to upgrade There are some different companies but even when we refinanced our house they had us, no we bought another house in Winchester for our son. And they made us have it in with our policy and they use American Home shield. its fabulous and you don't have to do the searching or anything, If you aren't happy you just tell American Home shield. One time United Air Temp tried to talk us into , they did some plumbing work too, and they were going try to talk us into replacing it with a cheap model. That isn't American Home Shield policy its with the same thing or you can pay to upgrade. Pay the balance of an upgrade. We use it all the time. When my son has issues with his house I tell him just call American Home Shield. They guarantee they will be out within 72 hrs but its usually within 24 hours. We contacted them last week about my son's air conditioning. They came out right away, they had to order something. They had to come back out and they did last Wednesday and they fixed it."

FAQs for swamp cooler installation and replacement projects in Bristol, IN

Swamp coolers are quite energy-efficient, using only 15% to 35% of the electricity that traditional central air conditioning units consume. This can lead to significant savings on your energy bills. However, keep in mind that swamp coolers require water to operate and may not cool your home as effectively in extremely hot or humid conditions. When considering overall efficiency, it is essential to weigh both electricity and water usage, as well as the cooling needs specific to your local climate.

Evaporative coolers only work in dry climates because they cool by moistening the air. If the air is already moist, this will have little to no cooling effect. Central AC is a better choice if you live in a humid climate, such as the Midwest, eastern, or western coastal regions.

To install a swamp cooler on a roof, a local HVAC specialist will first find and cut a spot free of wiring and obstructions. They’ll then install metal bracing, legs, brackets, the ceiling duct register, ductwork, power, and thermostat wires. Once installed, they’ll seal all openings, attach duct connections, and install a thermostat. Before leaving, they’ll run cool water piping to the unit and inspect all the connections.

The cost to repair your swamp cooler ranges from $50 to $600, depending on the issue, whether new parts are needed, and the chosen repair service. Depending on the type of pad your system uses, you will need to change out the pads every one to three years for proper operation. When budgeting for the cost to repair a window unit, expect to pay around $230.

The U.S. Department of Energy states that swamp coolers can cool a single room by five to 15 degrees Fahrenheit. However, this largely depends on the size and installation method of the evaporative cooler. You can only achieve these results in a dry climate, such as the American South, as it’s easier to cool rooms in humid environments with central air.

Swamp cooler water usage varies depending on the size of the unit. Smaller evaporative units may use one gallon per hour, while much larger units could use up to 15 gallons of water per hour. Most homeowners can expect their unit to use between seven and 10 gallons of water per hour of usage.
