"We had custom-width Jeld-wen composite wood doors installed on a bypass track on our pantry during a 2010 kitchen remodel. Unfortunately, due to their weight and effort of opening and closing them, one of the doors had torn free from the rolling bracket holding it at the top. A1 told us we already had the type of track they recommend, but not the right quality of rollers for the type and weight of door. I was dubious that the solution could be so simple as to just replace the rollers, but they seemed to know what they were doing. First the doors were removed and the damaged one was taken to a door repair shop in San Jose. Once the repair work was complete, they re-installed the doors with new rollers and I am amazed at how effortless they now are to open and close. This company seems to specialize in this one thing, but when that is the one thing you need, they are the ones to call."

"had original rotted T1-11 siding as sheer wall replaced with plywood sheer wall, hardy blueskin, and hardie panel siding. also had vinyl replacement windows and sliding door taken out and milgard ultra fiberglass installed instead. all work performed to high quality standard. good flexibility for our participation in the process. very focused on customer satisfaction. would definitely recommend to others who know what they want from their window/door/siding contractor."

"All of our windows and sliding doors probably dated back to when the townhome was built in the 70's. They were single pane and didn't work very well. Five star windows did an excellent job on the install.  I would recommend the quality of their product and install to anyone.
One of the reasons for the expense is the HOA does not allow one to just replace windows, you have to go back into the stucco and re-frame the windows. Several people have told me that not only is this the right way to do it, it saves aggravation later on because since the window is into the frame of the building itself, there are no issues with settling.
The only issue we had is that someone forgot to pull a permit with the city of Saratoga and the inspector showed up for the pre-closing inspection and shut them down until they pulled the permit. This is a contractor who had just done over a dozen installations in our complex; they should know better. The result was a little bit of nail-biting on our part as this was just before thanksgiving and we had scheduled cleaners, handymen, etc in anticipation of their completion date.  As it was, they did complete it two days behind schedule so everything worked out OK"

"In addition to being prompt, responsive, and professional Carlos does great work. My initial call was returned within a few hours and he was at my home doing a walk through of my projects within a few days. His prices are very reasonable and while he works quickly and efficiently, he also takes the time to make sure things are done well and thoroughly.
Overall, Carlos spent a few days at my house - some of the projects were a bit more problematic than we initially thought thanks to an older house, but he stayed until the work was done. In addition to other repairs, Carlos repaired / restored an original 1949 interior door that must have been kicked in by a previous owner. It was a bit difficult, but he spent some time trying to make it right. I didn't expect perfection because of the type of damage, but he didn't feel comfortable charging me the full amount because it didn't meet his personal standards (even though I was satisfied with the result).
Carlos is a keeper and I'm extremely happy to have found him. He's honest and hard working and has a lot of integrity around the quality of the work he does. He's someone who I feel comfortable coming to my home and I will definitely be using him for other projects and upgrades around my house.

"Our house was basically a complete rebuild from a 1941 bungalow. We expanded the existing footprint by more than double and also added a detached garage. Ben was the absolute best! We bought the house in February 2019 but were not able to complete the drawings/permit process until a whopping 7 months later-- by which time a substantial amount of our resources were used up by paying rent + mortgage+ storage. The contractor we had planned to use could not fit us into his schedule so we were in a bind-- I found Ben and contacted him immediately. He was very quick to respond and had an appointment to come out and see our house. We broke ground 09/2019 and moved in at the end of September! Everyone he has on his team was courteous, responsible, and just very good at what they do. the craftsmanship that went into our house was much better than many of the new construction track homes we have seen. Throughout the process, Ben was very patient and also had good suggestions as to what we should do with various things. I only wish we found him sooner--since his business also does the architectural drawings-- we probably could have gotten into our house several months earlier. His price was very fair, and timeline trumps everything. We are exceptionally grateful and look forward to working with him again in the future for any other construction needs."
