With the system being over 5 years old, I was uncertain what it would cost me, however, the only thing better than the equipment they provide is their customer service. No cost to replace with a better system. Now that is service!"

Once time was for an estimate and he did a little tuneup no my furnace, another one was to winterize my system, they fixed a part for about $97 and the last one was in April when I had a furnace installed with a humidity controller. "This company has treated me well, especially Mike Museus, who worked over a year (last summer and this spring) to find out why there was a fluid leak in my new AC unit. The leak didn't affect the cooling of my home so I wasn't concerned, but Mike was persistent, even to returning finally with an "expert" to help diagnose the problem. What they found was that the A-coil above the furnace was full of tiny pinholes. On the day this was to be replaced, Steve came before 9 a.m. to remove the defective A-Coil and install the new one. He worked on it all day, without lunch or a break, leaving shortly after 5 p.m. There was no charge, as it was still under warranty. With all that, he still took the time to explain to me why the replacement was so important: that the defective A-Coil could eventually leak enough to damage the furnace below it. Because he was using solder, I believe, to install the new part, he turned on the ceiling fan in the adjacent room to mitigate the fumes. My only complaint is that a few of my vinyl floor tiles were damaged/discolored by the soldering process. That part of the flooring has had water damage before and is missing a few tiles so, after a day of hard work, he may have attributed the damage to work done before. It's not a big deal; I just wish he'd have said something. I have to hand it to Steve, though; he was working by himself, which frequently required him to leave the furnace area to check the outdoor AC unit, then rush back to the indoor work. I think it might have been a two-person job. At least, an assistant could have facilitated some of the work done."

"My freezer went out in the middle of the week, and after calling a couple of other places, I was pleased to find that SOS could send someone out as early as the next day.  The repairman was prompt, professional, and concise.  I noticed that he took his shoes off at the door without me asking, which I (and my hard wood floors) appreciated.  It was about 30 minutes worth of work, which he completed in 30 minutes.  I also appreciated the $20 instant discount for being an Angie's list member.  
I intend to call them again with any appliance issues in the future.
That being said, I rated price a B, not because it was high, but just a really small thing I'd like to see improved for the future. Up front I committed to a diagnostic fee in the event I did not accept the service ( which makes perfect business sense and provides assurance that I'm a serious customer), but the repairman quoted me a price ( only verbally) that perhaps came from his computer or his experience, but I think I would have felt a bit of assurance myself to have seen a listing of prices next to services. Again, small thing, I'd still recommend SOS to anyone."

"It is always so nice to come home to a clean house after a long day at work.  Especially when I didn't have to clean it.  I like that I can communicate with them via text or email.  My dogs really like them.  When I get home they always leave a card behind.  They are friendly and helpful.  I was nervous about hiring someone because we are not clean or neat people.  So I sucked it up and got over the embarrassment and I'm so glad I did.  They put me at ease from the first appointment.

"I have read the comments on Home Energy on here and yes, they are sticklers for having both homeowners present. Good or bad, that s your call. My wife sat in with us on the conversation with Kevin, and we had to reschedule a second conversation with another company because of some of her questions after our meeting. I was skeptical, but think that it is a good idea that they do this. The presentation had a lot of tidbits that we did not find helpful. It came off as if no other HVAC company in MN knew what they were doing thus we should use HEC. As a new homeowner, a lot of this stuff is new for me, thus an explanation on what s available and why one would benefit from X rather than Y would have been more appreciated. Although our questions were answered, it did not seem like there was an attempt to connect with our vision of the work."
