"Commonwealth Comfort was amazing from start to finish! Bo Juel, the owner, was prompt in giving us an estimate at an awesome price. He was very knowledgeable about the different HVAC and air purification systems, and he was patient with all of our questions. We chose a Bosch system and we are thrilled with its performance. Bo kept us updated on when the equipment would be ready to install and answered all of our questions. They removed the old system and installed the new system quickly. Bo and his team were conscientious, efficient, professional, and courteous. We will be using this company to maintain our HVAC in the future. We highly recommend Commonwealth Comfort!"

"Scheduling was a breeze. Technician - Tim - on time and completed service in an efficient manner. Tim is knowledgeable of the workings of all systems and quick to point out things to keep an eye out for. He has worked on our systems for several years. Based on our experience with Climatemakers, they were the first one that my son called when his HVAC needed work and ultimately replacement,"

"We met Tim the owner at the Homeowner show at the Convention Center. Surprised at how personable he was. Cynthia, who handles customer service was very amiable and eager to help. Ryan, the service representative came out and gave us an estimate of a new HVAC system, since ours had died at the colder time this year.we accepted the bid and Ryan came out started the prep work. System was installed in one day. Ryan came out the next day to check everything. We concluded our business and we have wonderful heat. I cannot sing their praises enough. I would recommend them to anyone."

"We were told that when he replaced the starter it would fix our problem. When our electric bill came in it was very obvious that it had not been. We called him to come back out. He did not show, or call. We called again and set another time. He again did not call or show, when he did return our call he said he had a family emergency, okay. I understand that, and we set another time for this past Thursday. AGAIN he did not call or show. It's been two days and I've already submitted another request and another contractor has agreed to come out on Monday and service the heater"

"I have had a geothermal water to air heat pump in my house for over 30 years. I have tried other HVAC organizations but I’ve had nothing but disappointment until I met Absolute Comfort. The system has worked flawlessly since they took over the maintenance and repair of my geothermal system. Since they replaced my 20 year old compressor a few years ago, they come by for routine maintenance every fall and spring. They are professional, clean, timely and without question the best and VA Beach!"

FAQs for central humidifier installation and replacement projects in Chesapeake, VA

A crawl space dehumidifier is a worthwhile investment, particularly in humid climates or if you've noticed musty odors, mold growth, or wood deterioration. Though costs range from $3,000 to $9,200, this investment helps prevent structural damage that could require far more expensive repairs later. Beyond structural protection, a properly dehumidified crawl space contributes to better overall indoor air quality and may reduce allergens throughout your home. Consider having a professional assessment to determine if your specific situation warrants this investment.

Addressing crawl space moisture effectively often requires a combination of solutions. A complete approach includes encapsulation plus dehumidifier installation. For minor moisture issues, a basic dehumidifier starting at $1,500 may suffice, while severe problems in larger spaces could require systems costing up to $14,000. The most effective moisture control strategy depends on your specific conditions, making a professional assessment valuable for determining the most cost-effective approach for your situation.

For a crawl space measuring 1,500 square feet, you'll need a dehumidifier with a daily capacity of 30 to 50 pints, with unit costs ranging from $150 to $600. Your local climate and existing moisture levels may necessitate adjusting this capacity—homes in particularly humid regions might benefit from higher-capacity units. Professional installers can measure your specific humidity conditions and recommend equipment that is appropriately sized, balancing initial cost with operating efficiency for your unique situation.

Crawl space dehumidifiers add $300 to $500 to your annual electricity expenses when operating continuously. Energy-efficient models reduce this consumption by roughly 15 to 30% compared to standard units. Most contemporary dehumidifiers feature humidity sensors that automatically cycle operation based on current conditions, helping manage energy usage. Proper crawl space encapsulation significantly improves efficiency by creating a controlled environment that requires less dehumidifier runtime, thereby reducing ongoing electricity costs.
