The gentleman that came to do the service was polite, professional and took the time to explain everything to us. Initially I called other companies for quotes and most of them did not want to give me even an estimate. On the other hand Affordable water heaters was very upfront quoting an estimate and even quoted prices to us for water heater replacement in case that was needed. In addition, I was told that they guaranteed the lowest price, so if anyone should quote me a lower price (which no one did) their company would match it. "I had an issue with the initial technician, so I called and asked to speak to a services manager. The manager promptly returned my call, and arranged for another technician to come to my house. The second technician ("handlebar Chuck) was awesome! The customer services was EXCELLENT!!! "Technician stated hot water heater needed to be total replaced due to normal wear and tear. Hot water heater is initially the hot water heater installed in 1999 when home was built. Choice Home Warranty denied the claim after several years of being a loyal customer, making payments on- time every month. What is the use of having this warranty for times as this and when you need them, they denied the claim? Although the service was good, response time adequate, providing the services needed when your appliance break down and being denied repairs was disappointing and devastating, especially when coronavirus is rampant and you really need your hot water to wash clothes, dishes, bath, shower, and remain sanitary. I am so heart broken because I live on a fixed income and am disable, and can’t afford to purchase a hot water heater at this time. They determined that the water heater was not operating properly as a result of a lack of effective maintenance of the unit. What a crock!"

"AHS is ok. They cover repairs of most everything under the roof of your house. The companies that contract with them are not always the best. You call AHS with the issue, they send a fax to the repair company and give you the contact info. If they don't contact you within 24 hours, you call them. Sometimes they answer, sometimes they don't. When they arrive (usually three days or so later), they service the item. if it has issues within the 90 days, you call AHS again, they are sent out with no charge. If the serviceman decides the unit is unrepairable, AHS will allow you to choose a replacement from their listing (usually not as good as what you have) they will install and remove your old item, or give you wholesale amount to buy and install your own. Prices vary on what you want covered and what you want the copay to be, plus where you live. For me it is 49.99 per month with a 75.00 time of service order. You can have more than one item serviced at the same time under the same fee. If you have a SEAR product the repair guys are great. Not that wild about the other ones they send out. But it is a big savings compared to calling someone on your own. The cost of service is only the 75.00 copay."

"My outside unit was frozen so the heat was not working correctly. We had to manually switch from neat to emergency heat on our thermostat. They came out a total of three times. We went through American Home Shield so we only paid the $75 service fee.
The first time they sent a very nice gentleman. He explained that my outside unit was frozen up because of how cold it was. He explained how the emergency heat selection works on my thermostat. He said when the weather was above freezing they could come back out and find out what the exact problem was.
A month later my husband called to find out what was going on. The weather had warmed up a bit and we never got a call. The man we talked to on the phone should not be in customer service. He was rude and basically implied that we were lying. He said that everything had been resolved and that we had paid out service fee to be "educated on how a heat pump works". That's when we "lost it". I will confess that we got ugly and threatened them with all sorts of action. My husband demanded that someone call him before the end of the day with a proper resolution. They called us back and said that they would be out the next day.
The next day the same nice gentleman and another gentleman came to look at the unit. The second gentleman was the owner's son. He apologized for the rudeness the day before and said that the person had been educated in proper customer service. The owner's son is a very nice young man. He was earnest in his apology and wanted to make things right. I felt they did the right thing.They found the problem and said they would give us a call when the parts had come in.
About a week later we got the call that the parts were in and they came out the next day.Once again a tech and the owner's son came. The repair was done quickly. everything is going smoothly.
I feel that we talked to the wrong person on the phone. Everyone that we had personal contact with was friendly and professional. I would use this company again.
