"My girlfriend called me to tell me she had just got home and there was water on the floor.  I went straight home and found the water heater leaking.  I called Bamford Plumbing and spoke to a lady who asked several questions concerning the the tank number and approximate age (in case it was still under warrenty) and she took my phone number and said she would call me right back with an estimate.  Roughly 4 minutes later she called me back to give me an estimate and unfortunately to tell me that they couldn't be out until the next afternoon.  She recommende several other plumbers in my area and said she would hold the apointment just in case I couldn't get someone out sooner.  Well I called Heidler and was told someone would call me back.  45 minutes later a technician called and said he would be out and it would cost $185.  I asked what the charge was for and he said to look at what was leaking!  I explained it was the water heater leaking and I had turned the water off to the heater at this point and he said he could come out and cut the line to the water heater for $185 and there was nothing else he could do since it was after 4pm.  Again I said I had turned the water off and to have a good night.  I called Bamford back and told the lady I wanted to keep the appointment and told her what Heidler had said and she was shocked and appologized for what had happened and suggesting them as someone to call.
I received a call from Bamford in the morning to give me an approximate arrival time.  They arrived in the early afternoon as promised and replaced my water heater and necessary fitting.  They also had to install a inline preassure tank as required by Anne Arundel county, since there wasn't one at no additional charge.

"Sila was one of three companies I contacted for estimates on replacing my oil-fired systems with heat pumps. I have a boiler and two forced air furnaces, so the work would be extensive. I contacted Sila because their reviews were favorable, they sell Carrier products (which I was leaning toward), and they sell high velocity systems, which I felt might be a good option in the older part of the house where I don't have ducts. I was prepared to really go over the things that work well with ducts in the house, things that don't, and what my general asks were for the systems. The salesman was pleasant enough, but seemed completely uninterested in how I felt my current systems were and what my goals were. I asked for a price on two levels of Carrier (Performance and Inifinity) for the existing forced air systems, and then price me out for a reasonable high velocity system. The sales person who came out was pretty perfunctory and didn't take good notes while we spoke. I didn't think he was really that engaged in my concerns about the routing of high velocity ducting and placement--he just told me how it would have to be. While sometimes that's how things work, I don't think he really addressed my concerns with having all outlets in the ceiling only in the lower level, which would potentially leave me with lots of heat hanging around the ceiling. However, the larger issues were that the bids did not match the requirements for the project. First, he sent only the high velocity bid and nothing for the other systems. When i asked, he sent the other estimate, but only for the Carrier Infinity, omitting that I specifically asked for a bid on doing those systems with a Performance line that would allow me to use my existing non-communicating thermostats. In addition, their bid was the most expensive and their attention to detail seemed poor for a $40,000+ job. Spending less than an hour with me and sending lackluster boilerplate bids (with all kinds of language that should not have been in the bid, like references to other brands, etc.). A bid should be custom for the buyer and tailored for match what I'm asking for. This lack of attention to detail and customer focus lost Sila this job."

"Everything went smoothly. I had called the week prior to check on getting an appointment to get a new hot water heater installed and fix a problem toilet. The guys at Hamilton were very responsive, took my call and were able to schedule an appointment 1st thing in the morning early the following week. Service was prompt and efficiently done. Although they arrived a bit later than expected, the inspection was performed efficiently and completed well within the one hour I had expected it to take. I had been remiss in replacing my filters and Henry explained to me why it is important to change them every three months. Knowing the possible consequences will lead me to be more responsible in the future. My A/C unit is installed in an attic and even though the ladder I provided was rather short, Henry said not to bother getting a longer one and made do with what I had provided. John volunteered to carry the ladder back downstairs and carried the longer, heavy wooden ladder out to the yard for me. I was also pleased that both men put on shoe covers to walk through my house. In sum, the service was carried out professionally and cordially and I would definitely use their services again."
