"David came out to inspect our app. eighteen year old natural gas furnace. Upon startup it was apparent that our heat exchanger (that had been a cause for concern before) had cracked. He explained that the system was not safe, explained that the cost to replace the exchanger was prohibitive (something that we had been told by other contractors) and provided a quote for a new furnace. He waived the service fee for the inspection, explaining that he offers free quotes and that that was really what this visit came down to. His quote was more than competitive, he didn't try to up-sell me on more than what we needed (in fact when I asked about additional features, he explained what would, or would not, be worth the investment), and he was able to install the new system in less than a week.
