"David came out to inspect our app. eighteen year old natural gas furnace. Upon startup it was apparent that our heat exchanger (that had been a cause for concern before) had cracked. He explained that the system was not safe, explained that the cost to replace the exchanger was prohibitive (something that we had been told by other contractors) and provided a quote for a new furnace. HOWEVER, we do have a whole-house Aprilaire humidifier and I would have appreciated him ensuring that was working, maybe offered to replace filter, etc. (for addl. fee, of course).  This was our first winter at this home and I did not think to request they look at this (again, would hope they would be looking for such).
