The technician, Scott, showed up right on time (which is typical for SPH&A), extremely courteous (also typical), and did a timely but thorough job of the system checkup. This may be my favorite local business in the Richmond area; I feel I get a tremendous amount of value for the products and services they provide. When we needed our downstairs unit replaced two years ago, I went to great lengths to find the best possible value. During my research, I kept seeing comments about how great Short Pump Heating & Air was, and I have to say, it's all true. When they installed the downstairs unit, I was extremely impressed by the professionalism of the entire team, from the office staff to the technicians to the owner. In fact, I was so impressed that I had them replace the upstairs unit a year later, and didn't think twice about whom to call. As a homeowner, it gives me great peace of mind to have such a reliable organization as SPH&A for something as important as our heating and cooling system. This most recent service may have been a routine maintenance check, but it's great to know they still commit themselves to service excellence for their customers. "Upon experiencing deficiencies in the cooling of my home over the summer, I had my heat pump inspected by a local HVAC service. They were contracted through my home warranty plan and I do not recall the company name. I was told that the system had just become "too old" and was not repairable. I began the process of soliciting quotes for replacement. I called a local "big" company who I won't name, but is well known through their TV advertising and locally flavored name. They sent out a representative who briefly opened the door to my crawlspace, then viewed and photographed my air handler without stepping inside. From this I received a quote for a brand new heat pump system. Two days later I called Automatic Climate Control to ask for a quote for comparison. Michael Snipes came out the next day, opened the door to the crawlspace and immediately saw a section of ductwork collapsed on the ground and broken open. He then entered the crawlspace and spent about 20-30 minutes evaluating the situation. He provided me with quotes to replace the system, but not before explaining to me that much of my cooling problems were due to the collapsed and open duct work. Inside that ductwork was considerable mold and other biohazards, which he had photographed and showed me. He suggested to me that I open a service request to have the system looked at again, even if I chose to have another company do this, before I decide to replace it. I did make a call for service that afternoon, and I requested Automatic Climate Control through my home warranty contract. Their technician came out the next day, found the duct work broken in three places and losing 80% of the conditioned air into the crawlspace. He also found that the blower motor was faulty and needed replacement. I had Automatic Climate Control replace the blower motor which was covered under warranty. I also had them replace the main trunk of duct work which had collapsed and was biologically contaminated, and clean my remaining duct work. This was all done promptly in a single day. I am happy to say that my home is cooler and cleaner smelling than it has been in years, thanks to Michael and ACC. They chose to do right by me and not just offer to replace a system at considerable cost, which I didn't need. I will look to them for all of my service needs in the future, and when it comes time to actually replace my aging heat pump, Automatic Climate Control will be doing the installation. They saved this customer thousands of dollars instead of selfishly lining their own pockets. Thank you so much!"

"I had some issues with my 10 year old furnace and started looking into issues. I used to work for Carrier as an HVAC researcher and tried to fix the issues myself. I disassembled the burner and tried to get things right. In the end, I exhausted options and gave up on repair. I called my serviceman, trying to have the furnace repaired. He recommended getting a new furnace or replacing the whole HVAC since it was more than 10 years old. My serviceman gave me a quote for a Carrier furnace, which I thought was high since I knew the price of the unit (ex-Carrier R&D engineer). That was when I decided to look around. I received three quotes after reading through reviews in google and Angie’s list. In the end, I chose ARS Manassas by virtue of their overall competitiveness. In any business, it takes two things to win a deal: trust and value. In my case, one salesperson, Cliff Allen (who I will talk about more in a minute) delivered both aspects, which made the decision easy. Since I know the HVAC system in and out, I had many detailed (and even tedious) questions, to which he answered professionally with knowledge and courtesy. He did not try to upsell anything. In fact, he recommended to check a few things for repair, even while giving quotes for me. Although I decided to get the new one in the end after trying a few more attempt for repair, Cliff earned my trust and respect in the meantime. He tried to provide an optimal solution in terms of price and performance, which was more competitive than the other two quotes. I ended up getting 16 SEER performance series furnace and AC. Cliff truly knew what he was doing during the selection process. He answered all the questions an ex-Carrier R&D engineer raised and provided several quotes for comparison, which helped me to reach a satisfactory solution in an efficient and rational manner. He never tried to upsell, clearly understanding customer’s side. To the contrary, he did his best to give me the best deal without compromising performance. His professionalism does not stop at sales. He went over all the items in the specifics of installation, meticulously jotting down any notables in the contract. I was not surprised to see the technicians, Michael and Melvin, show up on time and finish the job, following the specifics and notables that Cliff had prepared at the contract phase. They tried to make the installation smooth and went over every single item to make sure that it was done to perfection. About a month later, the town inspector came out and made sure that the unit had been properly installed. The inspector confirmed that the job was done to the standard but pointed out that it would be better to add another bracket to the outdoor unit so that it would not move around. I called ARS to inform the findings of the inspection. ARS has promptly scheduled another visit (even if they could have waited for AC checkup in the late spring) to fix the issue. This time Jeremy and Josh came out and meticulously fixed the issue. These two gentlemen really knew what they were doing. They went a lot further than just adding a bracket. The outdoor unit is so sturdily attached to the bracket now that even a hurricane would not shake the outdoor unit. My kudos to Jeremy and Josh. I will come back and write a further review in 6 months to report any issues I experience but for now, I am glad that I chose ARS Manassas for new HVAC installation. If you ever need a new HVAC near Manassas area, the choice is simple. Go for a trustworthy and knowledgeable man that would deliver the best value for your investment, Cliff Allen at ARS."

"Mr. Ferrell first connected his computer to my computer via internet and worked for quite a few hours trying to determine what exactly was wrong. The next day he continued working from his computer for several hours. He determined he would have to have my desktop tower to complete the repair. He and my son met in Huntsville to exchange the tower. He then cleaned up a lot of what was wrong and reloaded Windows 10. He deleted the D: drive which had way too much memory allotted to it. The tower was returned and I plugged it all back together and it is working better than it did when I first purchased it. I would use him again and I recommend him highly to anyone needing computer updating and/or repair. His work is warrantied and he is very personable, knowledgeable, and helpful."

"Woke up to cold downstairs -- heating system not working.  First floor furnace was not turning on.  Called company and service technician arrived same morning.  Very professional.  Troubleshot the furnace and found burnt out ignitor.  Called Carrier to confirm part number and appropriate replacement.  Installed new ignitor and verified operation.  I also decided to purchase yearly service plan for both Heat/AC zones (two visits per year for each) for $270.

"It was fine. I had to pay additional cost. There was some confusion about this. I'd purchased it to have a particular problem addressed but I couldn't get a refund. I had them come out for what they thought the coupon was for. They didn't end up cleaning or doing any of the stuff we thought the coupon included. It was supposed to be a tune up of the H/Vac unit but I don't really know what their services entailed. I was under the impression that the coupon that we purchased was for a complete tuneup and that's not really what it was. They didn't clean the unit, they couldn't clean the coils which is was really what needed to be done. They gave me a long list of things that needed to be done in the unit, that I should call back and have done at a later time. They were there on time. They misinterpreted the coupon. This was the first time I used them. They were friendly."
