I purchased a "repair special" and didn't learn until I had purchased it that the repair service was located in theBronx and the repair was needed in Clifton, NJ.  When the repair service responded, I asked if there was a problem with the service needed in New Jersey and was told no.  It took over 2 weeks to schedule the repair.  When the repair was made, I was not there, but the person who was there called me and told me that there was an additional charge.  I authorized it (I had left a blank check with the person), but stressed that I wanted a copy of the repair bill for my records.  I have made three requests to the repair person, and still have not received it.   My disappointment isn't with the repair that was done, but rather with the difficulty making an appointment and the lack of response for the copy of repair bill.  In the future, if responding to any of Angie's "specials", I will first ascertain the location of the service provider before purchasing it.

Upon calling 1 Hour Chimney/AAA Chimney, the service rep scheduled the free estimate for a new chimney liner at my convenience. The owner, Tony Sapun, came to do the inspection. He confirmed that I needed a new liner and also said that he would have the water heater exhausted to code as its current position is incorrect. His recommendation and advice exemplified his expertise in this type of work. Tony was also friendly and reassuring. He honored the Angie’s List discount. His pricing was in the ballpark of the previous chimney company that offered to change the liner after cleaning and inspecting the chimney over a year ago. I didn’t consider this company for the job because I didn’t like being put on the spot to do the job that very same day in order to receive the discounted price. Tony applied for the permit in my town. A service rep called a week later to schedule the job within two weeks. Two of his workers then came and explained what they were going to do and confirmed what was on the ageeed contract. They ran the steel liner (one that could handle higher btu capacity than I currently use just in case) down the chimney from the roof and put on a new chimney cap. They checked the pointing and flashing around chimney for its condition. They made a t-connection for the water heater to the furnace exhaust, so another hole in the wall would not be made and sealed the hole for the water heater exhaust to the chimney. His workers confirmed it was done to code. The job was finished in just over an hour because my chimney configuration was simple. 1 Hour Chimney/AAA Chimeny offers a lifetime warranty on the steel liner and chimney cap as long as inspection is done by them according to the timeframe specified by type of furnace one has.
