"Randy was just awesome! He was very knowledgeable and very kind. I called him around 10 am after having a new refrigerator delivered. I explained that I needed some help with the water line that connects to the ice maker/water dispenser. He explained over the phone what likely needed to happen and then told me that he would get back with me in a couple of hours. I gave him my address and info and sure enough--2 hours later he comes, takes a look at what I need done, went to the hardware store, and bought what was needed. He then came back and installed everything and spent a good deal of time talking to me about installing our gutters. He's very friendly and I would not hesitate to call him again if we need work done on our house or remodeling. The quality of service we received definitely exceeded the price we paid to hire him. Randy, if you see this, thanks again very much for all of your help today!"

"I was told a few months ago by a technician who works for one of the larger Heating/AC companies that my furnace was essentially totaled and needed to be replaced, as the unit would turn itself on or off, seemingly at random (it was not short cycling, it was something else entirely). I decided to get a second opinion from David at Complete Image. Boy am I glad I did! For the cost of a service call and hour of labor, he figured out exactly what was wrong, and fixed it. It was a solution that I'm shocked the prior technician didn't mention (perhaps because he was trying to sell a new unit for $3,000+). David fixed the issue very quickly, and taught me a bit about HVAC systems and Nest thermostat wiring in the process. I highly recommend Complete Image!"

"Being over eager, I contacted the company early in the year before outdoor painting 'season'. Talked with Ron and we made arrangements to solidify a date as the weather became more spring-like. Was contacted in early spring (or maybe late winter)  to get a sense of my priority on getting the house done and to inquire about my paint color choice.  He also had some color suggestions which he came over and applied for evaluation.  As soon as the weather was good, a crew showed up to begin work.
Highlights
The crew was:
    Good
    Quick
    Thorough
    Nice
Eager to do what we wanted
    Neat
    Unobtrusive

Ron Scott was:
    Friendly
    Courteous
    Helpful
    Did inspections for quality
Did final touchups to make us happy.
Helped correct some silly choices I made the last time I had the house painted - like getting the windows painted shut.
Low lights
    None.
Overall
They were here, did work their work, cleaned up and they were gone.  If the house didn't have a beautiful paint job on it - you wouldn't have even known they had been here.  Every day when I come home and see my new paint job - I smile!  I am more than happy with the work done.
Would I use them again ........ in a heartbeat!  They did a GREAT job at a fair price.

"I had to reschedule the service from a previous date due to family conflicts. Richard was very accommodating. I received a call the day before the service to coordinate what I needed done. We had originally thought that it would take two men all day instead of the half day we originally thought. Richard decided that he would only need to send one man. He sent "Super" Dave. He arrived at about 11:00 AM and went to work. First he installed the shower valve and got it working. When he started to install he tub surround, he discovered that all the drywall around the area had to be removed.  This he accomplished expeditiously. We installed the surround and he sealed the seams between the tub and surround with silicone sealer. After this he cleaned the work area and packed up his tools. I am very pleased with the work and will not hesitate to call Mr. Fix It in the future.

"The first day Tim from 5 Star came out, he looked at the bathroom and stated he thought that the half wall at the entrance to the bathroom was already supposed to be taken down by my husband. My husband had already taken down the wall between the sink and the shower area, but the contract had stated 5 star would remove the other wall where the new door was supposed to go.
We pulled out a copy of the contract and showed it to Tim. He said ok and then proceeded with his work. A few days later the tile installer started with installing the tile in the shower and on the floor. He was very reliable, courteous, and went out of his way to make sure the shower tile was installed in a way we would be pleased with. Warren-[the tile installer], did a nice job overall, especially on the floor. There were a few things done on the shower we would have liked to be done a little differently, but in the end the shower and floor looked very nice. The problems started when the tile was finished.  5 Star expected us to do the dry wall at first. It did not state in the contract who would do the drywall. We explained that my husband did not have any drywall experience, and that he was not comfortable doing it. Chris who was one of the project managers, said he would send someone out to do it. A few days later Tim came to do the drywall. He did not look very happy about being there, and stated he had a
toothache and did not feel well. We left for a few hours, and returned to a very sloppy dry wall job. Several days later and a few phone calls later, Clinton came out to work on the drywall. He tore down some of the sloppy drywall that Tim had done. He finished the dry wall except for some sanding which my husband did. The drywall ended up being just fair, but a big improvement from the first day.
The next problem was the shower door. I had explained to Keith, who is one of the brothers who own 5 star, that shower doors in stock at the local home improvement stores only came in a few standard sizes and ask which size I should buy. He stated to go ahead and buy the 44-48inch door and that they would built up the sides of the wall where the shower doors would be installed so that size would fit and we would not have to custom order a door. The conversation of course took place while they were building the frame for the new shower-before it was tiled.  Before Warren tiled the shower door entry site-we measured the opening and did not think the shower door we were told to buy would fit. We had Warren call Keith-with us near by, and ask if we should add some more lumber so the shower door we had would fit. Keith told Warren not to worry about it, but to go ahead and tile.
When we were ready to have the shower door installed, they sent Clinton out to do the job. He measured the opening again and stated the door we had would not fit and that we would have to custom order the door. Needless to say we were not happy. We returned the $300.00 door and had to pay approx. $950.00 for a custom order size.
The job wall finally completed a few weeks later. I never knew for sure when or if anyone from 5 star was coming unless I called them first. The whole project ended up taking approximately 8-10 weeks, which we felt was a long time for a small bathroom remodel. I felt they lacked organization skills.
A few positive things I can say about them, is that other than Tim, they were always very courteous and polite, they listened to our complaints but just took too long to act on them. When we signed the contract, we agreed that my husband would do some of the work, but the contract was not clear enough about who would do what. We learned a lesson and know that if we sign a contract in the future, we need to make sure it is more specific and detailed.
In the end James came out took a look at the bathroom before we paid. He was very polite and apologized for the problem with the shower door. He also took the time to listen to some of our other concerns, and ended up taking the price we had to pay for the custom shower door off the total bill. We felt this was fair and a nice gesture on his part.  To sum it up, I think 5 star would be fine to use for a small job that only took a day or two, but as nice as they were, I cannot recommend them for larger jobs, especially BR remodels. I would stick to a company that specializes in this area. The whole experience was a lot more stressful than it should have been and we would not use them again in the future.

"The people they sent out came out, they came out , I think about 4 or 5 different times. I talked with the technicians and said, "this is ridiculous, the furnace is old" and he said, "we agree, but they only want to do the patching". They would patch it and it would break, they would patch it, and it would break. Finally, I said, "I want a new furnace. What do we have to do to do a new furnace. You've been out here, this is like the 6th time," and he said, "I'll have my manager write something up", and so they did and they replaced the furnace. They tried. They were more interested in patching things than replacing things. They were willing to send out 4 or 5 different parts. The things that I see that would help the most is if it were easier to get a hold of them on the phone or if their website worked. Just being able to contact someone in person. Sometimes, you can't explain everything online. We were able to get a hold of them, we were able to talk to them. It just takes some time, they had to jump through the hoops with their company, we understood that, but they came through and got us a new furnace. A nice new furnace too."

FAQs for thermostat installation and replacement projects in Holden, MO

Smart thermostats may be worth it for many homeowners. They come with various features, including voice control and smartphone apps. Vacation mode can help lower energy usage when you’re out of town for an extended period. Alert warnings let you know about major spikes or drops in temperature. Smartphone apps can track energy usage, and smart thermostats can learn your routine over time to adjust your temperature and reduce wasted energy consumption automatically.

You typically do not need more than one smart thermostat. While it’s common to see multiple mechanical thermostats throughout a large home, multiple smart thermostats may try to override each other. This can lead to problems with the HVAC system. Ensure the unit you buy has the option for dual- or multi-zoned systems to avoid compatibility issues.

Installing a programmable or smart thermostat may save you $180 per year in utility costs. A big part of this comes from a smart thermostat’s ability to learn and adapt to your regular routines. With smartphone apps or web-based interfaces, you also have the option to control your thermostat when you’re not home.
