"On April 26, 2021 we used Freedom Plumbing Heat & Air to address a plumbing issue with one of our toilets. I called a few days before that, and they promptly returned my phone call and got me scheduled for service. The gentleman that they sent out was professional and efficient. He removed the stool, replaced & upgraded the wax gasket, replaced the stool, and even addressed a couple of faucet issues I had in the bathroom and kitchen. He did all of this in a little less than an hour. I was VERY impressed with the speed and quality of his work, and the price we were charged was very fair and reasonable. This is going to be the only plumbing company we use going forward."

"I had completed the same repair on my previous house in the past and it was a simple process. I expected the replacement kit would cost about $20-$40. I was told by their office when I made the appointment that I would be told of any other repairs needed before work was commenced. They replaced the toilet bowl kit and also a short water hose leading into the water tank without talking to me. The total cost over $260 for what I thought would be a simple project. "We have used Airco for annual maintenance on our home HVAC.  Our upstairs unit has had a coolant leak for a while.  Other servicers wanted to just top up the coolant, which has been getting more expensive with the rising cost of coolant and government regulations.  Airco checked for the source of the leak and determined that it was in the evaporator coil.  Government regulations do not allow replacement of just the coil since it uses R-22 coolant.  Airco sent someone to check our cooling needs, measured the area to be cooled and advised on the size of unit needed.  I asked about getting a larger unit with more heating and cooling capability but they said that it would be a waste of money (although it would have been more money for them).  They also advised on the different units available and credits available for installing a more efficient unit then what we had.  We selected a unit and within a week it was installed and operating.  It working great, and we're even letting it carry some of the load for our older unit which covers the downstairs zone in our home."

"Sooo....first, Jim is a very nice guy.  However, Jim now works in Nashville during the week and is only home to the Huntsville area on the weekends.
My first impression of him was that he was awesome.  My computer system had crashed because I pulled the plug during a thunder storm before the computer fully shut down which resulted in the computer hanging up.  Jim took my call while in Tennessee and suggested how to fix the system.  For this I am very grateful.

What happened next was I had him come and check my computer to make sure everything was working properly.  He came to my house and spent an hour tweaking it (basically running various checks on the system), for which I paid him $50.  He suggested that my laptop would work much better if I had Windows 7 and increased my RAM up to 4 GB.  He said he could install it for me for (including the RAM) for about $160.  We met the following weekend for the handoff and he loaded Window 7.  When I received the call it was ready, the bill was $227.50.  I was surprised that is was $70 more than quoted, but paid it anyways.  When I asked about the RAM, he mentioned he did not upgrade the RAM and this would be another $60.  I was a little discouraged at that point since I felt like I was being taken advantage of, but the guy is relatively nice, so I said to go ahead and order the RAM.  He did so and the following weekend was supposed to install it.  Due to some personal things in his life, he wasn't able to install it, so I picked it up since I had to go out of town and could use the IT guy at my new location to install it for me.  When we went to install the RAM, the system wouldn't let us do it since my particular type of laptop can only take 2GB of RAM max.  If Jim had gone to the crucial.com website (where he bought my RAM) and entered my computer system on it, it would have told him the max amount of RAM that could be installed on that unit.  He did not do that.  He is supposed to refund my $60 this next weekend.

I think if Jim wasn't burning the candle at both ends by having a job in Tennessee during the week and trying to run this business on the weekends, it would've been a better experience.  Perhaps taking a few extra minutes to SLOW DOWN and write out an estimate of everything he would need for the job including the prices would ensure people know up front how much the repair would/should cost so they can budget accordingly.  I think if he had taken that approach, it might've been a better experience.  So now I am stuck with a laptop that runs slower because Windows 7 uses more memory and a laptop that can't be upgraded to more RAM.  Basically, the last step which cost me almost $300 was not necessary.  If you need something simple done like coming back from a system crash, he would be okay to use.  Otherwise, for the bigger jobs, I recommend he provide a written estimate with the items he plans to do.

UPDATE:  After posting this review, I received a number of text messages from Jim commenting on the bad review.  I understand he is upset, but harassing someone about a review is not a good way to go.  My review was honest and not meant to be mean, but to let those that use Angie's list get what they pay for...an honest review of someone's experience."

"Late showing up, Left natural gas line loose. Was blowing gas into my house for a week and a half before it was discovered. Gas line improperly installed. Asked to use my shop then took it with them when they left. Took 2 weeks to get it back. They still have the attachments."

"BEST CONTRACTOR I HAVE EVER WORKED WITH! I am a detailed oriented person with a background in construction and a DIY'er because I don't trust anyone to do it correct due to past experience with contractors. This was a semi-emergency project and we did not have time to do it ourselves and honestly it was a complex project. PROS: 1. Excellent workmanship. 2. Communication was excellent. 3. Always did what they said they were going to do. 4. Scheduling of work was seamless 5. Raam is very knowledgeable and has great ideas, but final decision is with the owner. 6. INSTALL: Walk in tile shower where garden tub was located, to include a custom shower drain pan. Re-plumb from garden tub to shower using existing walls. Install new lights, fans, reposition toilet, convert old shower to linen closet, to include new dry wall and plug old shower fixtures. Install new cabinets with fixtures, repaint walls and ceiling, new light switches with new electrical covers on plugs and switches. Install new "barn door" to entrance to bathroom and install new vinyl flooring in bedroom and bathroom. The remodel looks better than we expected and as stated previously, we will have RDA do any remodel project we may have in the future. HIRE them... you wont regret it..."

"Technician came to the house and analyzed the problem. It was determined that the cost of repair was over the allowable Choice Home Warranty limit and it should be replaced. Choice Home Warranty issued their replacement cost. This cost was unacceptable and I challenged their figure. After some negotiation I was offered an increased settlement amount. I still balked at their offer but I was told to take it or repair my old microwave. I finally accepted their amount, even though it is still well below what it will cost me to replace the unit. I might add that the existing microwave has the convection feature and I want to replace with same features. The cost that I will receive also does not include any removal, disposal or installation costs. At this time I am debating whether I will continue with Choice Home Warranty or consider other options."
