"After quite a bit of research I decided on a Mitsubishi ductless heating system and received bids from several companies and ultimately decided to go with Westin Air LLC Heating and Cooling. While I specifically asked for Mitsubishi, the other companies either tried to sell systems that I didn’t want, or their price for the system was higher than Westin (in one instance over $1,000). On the other hand, after looking at the shed and judging the scope of the project, Westin’s representative Cathy Shankland (great person, easy to work with & loves pooches), provided a bid for the same Mitsubishi system at a very competitive price and, gave a 2% discount for writing a cheque. It’s worth noting, that having received the bid in July 2019, by the time the requisite remodeling work and wiring in the workshop was completed, it was the end of December, before I could call to get on the schedule for January. Initially, the installation had to reschedule because of the rainy weather. The next week the crew (Jason, Frank and Zack) arrived around 9am on the appointed day and got to work in the freezing cold! In a word, these dudes were just GREAT and got to work immediately! They were efficient, diligent, extremely hard-working, and had a great sense of humor as I asked countless questions and poked around. One could not have asked for a nicer group of guys. When I asked about the rescheduling, they explained it was better to work in the cold than the rain because the rain could not only rust their tools but could be detrimental to/have a negative impact on some of the internal mechanisms of the system. I made an old-style percolator pot of coffee and brought it out with cups and, then baked molasses cookies, (after all, I had to warm them up somehow)! Initially, we thought it would take the better part of the day, but because the electrical preparatory work was done, the job was completed by early afternoon. They cleaned up so well, one would have never known anything had been done in my little workshop, except for the fact that it as toasty warm, and will be cool in the summer. Whoopee!! By the by… they’d finished the coffee and almost all of the cookies. My experience with Westin Air, LLC was wonderful! The office folks were great, the rep that worked with me was great and the crew was super! This is company is a hidden gem, and we’ll definitely be using them again."

"They could not use the furnace that was advertised, they had to upgrade. Something about a down flow and up flow. The one being offered was either down flow or up flow, I cant remember, and I needed the other one so they had to upgrade it. I spend several hundred dollars more then that. I thought that they were prompt, the guy that came in explained everything in detail to me, showed me how to install the filter. He created it so I could easily install the filter which I couldn't on the other one. He was patient, took his time, and what was required to do a professional job. He was very professional, cleaned up after himself and was good."

"We had a great experience with Franklin Heating/Cooling and their employee Tony when they came to fix our AC. From start to finish, Tony was professional, efficient, and incredibly honest. It's not every day you come across a service company that doesn't try to upsell unnecessary repairs or replacements. They took the time to thoroughly assess the issue, explain what needed fixing, and offered a clear, fair solution. We really appreciated his transparency and how he genuinely prioritized our best interest over making a quick sale. It's rare to find companies that are this trustworthy, and I will definitely be using them for any future HVAC needs. Highly recommend!"

"Awesome job. Jimmy, Andi, Logan, Shannon, Bob and the rest of the team did an incredible job. In one day, they removed and replaced my 100+ year old sewer stack, connected to city sewer, corrected poor old DIY plumbing jobs (pre-dated me) and replaced the main city water line. The hydrovav was fast, clean (I taped over my windows, but didn't need it in the end) and didn't rip up my whole yard. And it was so quick on the supply side that I didn't even know they were nearly done. All of this was done in one day, the inspector was out promptly and everything was great. Was it pricy - yes, but it was a fair cost and the work was great. 100% will use them again (new water heater on deck)."

"On May 24, 2019, I replaced two 20-year-old York AC units with (two) 2-ton 13 seer Carrier units at my rental. The two technicians Brad and Kevin arrived around 10:00 AM. They removed the old units and installed the two new units. The total cost $6,174.00 including permit fees, tax, and installation. It includes a 5-yr parts & 1-year labor warranty. The technicians, Brad & Kevin were great. They were conscientious, personable and willing to answer all my questions. Unfortunately, it rained part of the day. They made sure to put down drop cloths and kept the mess to a minimum. The entire installation took approximately 9 hours. I stayed and watched the entire time so I can attest to their work ethic, expertise and honesty. The old equipment was removed by a scrapper they called. The only issue I have and it is not with the installers but the company's policy of only giving a 5-yr warranty rather than the normal 10-yr residential warranty. They considered my residential rental as commercial. But I knew this up front. So the issue for me was should I go with another company that I received a bid from but which was around $350 higher per unit to get the 10-year warranty or go with New Albany H & C? I chose the lower price over the longer warranty. New Albany H & C is part of a larger group of companies that include Pickerington H & C, Hilliard Dublin H & C, and a few others. I like the company's policies and customer service but the warranty issue does stick in my craw. I would use the company again and I would request Brad and Kevin again."

"Excellent service, very fast response to my request for service, picked up laptop, diagnosed issues. Initially thought it was an OS update issue but the hard drive had failed along with other components (including 'CPU). Because other components were involved, a new solid state hard drive was put into a laptop with a working processor - same type CPU as in the failed unit. The laptop was repaired and returned in less than a week. This company picked up and dropped off the laptop (driving from Huntsville, AL (about 60-70 minutes)-- great service in this covid environment. I would recommend this company to my family./friends and will use again."

"I called on a Saturday morning and Jeff was at our house in about 10 minutes.  We call him any time we have heating/air conditioning issues.  He does not charge extra for weekends or after hours - and his pricing is the best I've found.  He always tries to go with the least expensive method and never tries to sell you anything you don't need.  He has fixed our old furnace, put in a new air conditioner, and put in a new vent stack on top of our house when a storm broke the old one off."

FAQs for swamp cooler installation and replacement projects in Newark, OH

Swamp coolers are quite energy-efficient, using only 15% to 35% of the electricity that traditional central air conditioning units consume. This can lead to significant savings on your energy bills. However, keep in mind that swamp coolers require water to operate and may not cool your home as effectively in extremely hot or humid conditions. When considering overall efficiency, it is essential to weigh both electricity and water usage, as well as the cooling needs specific to your local climate.

Evaporative coolers only work in dry climates because they cool by moistening the air. If the air is already moist, this will have little to no cooling effect. Central AC is a better choice if you live in a humid climate, such as the Midwest, eastern, or western coastal regions.

To install a swamp cooler on a roof, a local HVAC specialist will first find and cut a spot free of wiring and obstructions. They’ll then install metal bracing, legs, brackets, the ceiling duct register, ductwork, power, and thermostat wires. Once installed, they’ll seal all openings, attach duct connections, and install a thermostat. Before leaving, they’ll run cool water piping to the unit and inspect all the connections.

The cost to repair your swamp cooler ranges from $50 to $600, depending on the issue, whether new parts are needed, and the chosen repair service. Depending on the type of pad your system uses, you will need to change out the pads every one to three years for proper operation. When budgeting for the cost to repair a window unit, expect to pay around $230.

The U.S. Department of Energy states that swamp coolers can cool a single room by five to 15 degrees Fahrenheit. However, this largely depends on the size and installation method of the evaporative cooler. You can only achieve these results in a dry climate, such as the American South, as it’s easier to cool rooms in humid environments with central air.

Swamp cooler water usage varies depending on the size of the unit. Smaller evaporative units may use one gallon per hour, while much larger units could use up to 15 gallons of water per hour. Most homeowners can expect their unit to use between seven and 10 gallons of water per hour of usage.
