"Great. Atomic Plumbing's Jim Miller showed up during the scheduled maintenance window. We talked about the problem of the clogged pipe, and then he looked at a few things. Then he explained to me what was going, and why. My drainage pipe from the washing machine was smaller than it should have been. I could replace it, and other pipes under the house, or get it snaked out and cleaned out for now. I choose just the snake procedure. He was very thorough and meticulous as he drained the water from my deep sink and then undid the drain plug on the pipe, and proceeded to snake the pipe. Once done, he tested the drainage of the pipe with a full washing machine of water. It passed the test! I was very happy everything went as he said it would. Jim is also a funny guy, as he was working and we talked, he had some stories he told me, that I thought were quite hilarious. Bottom line, I am extremely happy with the job he performed at the price stated. I would not hesitate to recommend Jim, and Atomic plumbing if some one asked me about knowing a good plumber. I know if I have another plumbing problem, I will be calling Atomic Plumbers again. Thanks Jim!"

"I would not hesitate to recommend Ray to anyone seeking a plumber. We were without water for less than 24 hours after our pipe burst and Ray was a pleasure to deal with--he was accessible, timely, did the repair quickly, and made suggestions for modifications that we could do to prevent the problem from happening in the future. <br />"

"I initially contacted the company in November for a service and figure out why my fireplace wasn't running.  I have lived here a year and a half and never used it so I didn't know the specifics of the set I had.  The first date was set in December, and during the initial visit, the tech educated me on my set up.  He explained the difference between a vented and non vented set was.  I apparently had a vented set, which is not typical for heating purposes but more for visual enjoyment.  I mentioned that we would use it only for the heat.  He explained and wrote down his recommendations for replacing the set to a non vented set.  He collected the service fee even though nothing was done, but mentioned that an install is 250, so the remaining 100 would be covered when they return to install.  I immediately took the info and bought a new set.  January came, the next tech came and completed the install.  He offered to take the set that was removed and boxes, but it was the day before trash pick up so I offered to keep them and toss them myself.  The fireplace has been working very well.  I have to say the two techs that assisted me were very straight forward, full of knowledge, and extremely polite.  I will be using this company for annual service calls in the late summer/early fall to prepare the fireplace for the winter. <br />"

"First off, these gentleman know their stuff! They were not only punctual, they were early. We've had the worst luck with contractor's as a matter of fact we were referred to Norwood A/C initially. Homeowners be aware of this rude, unpolished, and completely unprofessional nut case. Darrel Norwood, is a creep. Do not leave your wives and girlfriends alone with this clown! To make a long story short he hung up on me when we were in discussion about the work and pricing. He started speaking in the third person and ultimately held a one way conversation about the work in my house. I had to call the Gas Guy and immediately recognized the level of sophistication and professionalism they had to off. Darrel Norwood is a rip off and tried to charge me $180 extra. Whereas, the Gas Guy only charged $95 for the same service. They even looked at my gas logs when they discovered it was a faulty logs they didn't charge me. They are honest and dependable. Their honesty and knowledge wins my business again. Again, choose the Gas Guy not these companies that use their namesake as a ploy to exploit women (Darrel Norwood A/C)."

"I called Jack (owner of planet plumbing) at 8 am, he called me right back and had Todd out to my house just an hour later. Todd was very professional, courteous and knowledgeable. He found the problem, replaced the pipe in question and cleaned up afterwards. The price was very reasonable since they came out on a holiday and very quickly fixed my problem. I would recommend them to my friends and will use them again if needed. Very happy with the results."

FAQs for gas piping projects in Newport News, VA

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
