"Had a chimney cleaning and inspection in early Oct. Both Sol and his assistant Margaret were friendly and professional. Sol is very knowledgeable and answered all my questions, and I felt very comfortable with going ahead to have his company install a chimney liner. Greg and Gary came about 10 days later to do the installation, and were also friendly, professional and respectful of my home. They politely answered more questions and cleaned up the area better than it was before."

"Very responsive, appointment easy to schedule. Our problem was a chronic (16 months) egg/sulfur smell in our hot water (also in our cold water but NOTHING compared to the hot water). The house has been in the family since 1973 and there has never been any well water issues - always great testing water with no smell at all. We came home from vacation back in September 2017 and immediately noticed the smell. We dealt with it for 16 months trying different things such as changing the anode rod in the water heater (smell returned within 1 week), later replaced the water heater, that didn't help at all, when we finally realized we couldn’t use our whole house humidifier because it was blowing the sulfur smell around we finally decided to call a professional. Brett tested the water, thankfully no concerns (other than hardness). He thought perhaps a particular bacteria was in our well causing the sudden onset of smelly water. Brett sanitized the well and suggested we do that yearly, drained and sanitized the water heater, replaced our old water softener, flushed the lines and everything is running great. It's been 1 week and there is no sulfur smell, water softener running correctly and water tests amazing. I love the new water softener, it has a countdown meter letting me know when the next recharge will occur. Very happy with the job. I will definitely use again and also recommend Hobson’s Plumbing to others."

"I hired Bill to replace the ice machine in my refrigerator. After he installed it, it did not produce ice. He brought over a new one and installed it. It did not work. He tried a 3rd time with the same results. He then blamed the manufacturer claiming all of their ice machines are faulty. He had no solution. I hired another company to look at the latest new one from Bill. They identified the problem within minutes and we’re out of the door in 15 minutes, I had a working ice machine. Bill did not wire it correctly!! For over a year Bill has promised to return what I paid to the company that fixed it. After many texts, he has gone silent. Save yourself the grief and hire someone who is qualified and honest, which Bill is not."

"Steve arrived promptly to change out a faucet and to assess a shower head that was too high for us to safely reach. Steve replaced our laundry room faucet efficiently and solidly. Such a relief to have one that works properly. Steve recommended an alternate fix to our high-reach shower head. He will look through the hardware options and see what Graham can provide. At least, we know the direction to pursue."

FAQs for gas piping projects in Park Forest, IL

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
